As soon as John took a drag of his cigarette in the video someone walked under my window in the alley smoking, and it blew in at the just the right second. SMELL-O-VISION.
John Lydon...complete underrated for his punkhistory. Great Voice...great song... i wish that PIL will be played much more on radio...ps: the guy behind John in this video is unique
El tipo de atrás hace lo mismo que hacía acá , en argentina un tipo de apodo geniol, se presentaba con la banda sumo, de Luca Prodan. A penas lo ví , dije, es el geniol inglés!
It makes you want to dance, makes you laugh, and makes you think all at same time - yeah! I love how John's lyrics often have a repetitive chant that really sticks in your brain - "this is what you want, this is what you get" - gets into your brain - really effective songwriting.... and the gets into your body on a primitive level, makes you want to move, very danceable. I liked the surrealist montage of his eyes and mouth at 3:20 - way cool! I like the silly, crazy way they're dancing, it's entertaining - yes, the blue-jacketed Martin at 1:40 is GIF worthy!
I can't get people's point on saying that this vid-song is too bad. Man, I've just found the song 1 day ago and I'm in love with it! It's a sticky rhythm, and dat bass. I love it!
breakfastmachine: No Daniel Eyre is completely on the money; there was nothing in the least bit revolutionary about The Pistols..... apart from the sloganeering.
I’m not being rude, he sounded like the late Malcolm, when singing and he ginger too, lol 😂😈the one who done “Double Dutch” my favourite song when I was born the same month July ‘83 and “Buffalo girls” and “madam butterfly”, lol, I know he was the manager of the Sex Pistols, am I right?? My favourite song from P.I.L when I was small on U.K television called Top of the pops in 1986 “Rise”, when they performed it on Top of the pops, the atmosphere was good with two drummers (the heavy beat), that was my first time to know the famous Johnny Rotten and that time I think it was 10 years ago when he was in Sex Pistols, I remember I was born in early 80’s, ‘83, but grew up quickly in the mid 80’s after I lost my brother in ‘85 and that time in ‘86 I took over taping top of the pops from my dad at age of 2 and half years old and that’s when first saw Johnny that I will never forget it, some of the rock music looked after me like his song “Rise”, 😃
He's just so cheeky with his in your face antics...I love him. Public Image were such a surprise upon the break up of The Sex Pistols. I'd never heard anything like it...ever.
This is kind of creative actually. Songs that hang on one chord like this have to have lots of interesting dynamics - which this does. Just like The Beatles did with "Tomorrow Never Knows."
Chadwick Rogers As well as his his collaborators! I think this album is better than most people give it credit for being. It was definitely a smart creative choice to emphasize the main elements that were left within PiL: Atkins' drumming and Lydon's voice. (I especially like how although they double tracked Lydon's vocal, it seems as if they may even have gone out of their way to make sure that the two parts did *not* sound the same.)
The ultimate irony ... the album is a railing against their label who was demanding that they sound like more the Talking Heads. Of course, despite the protest, this album really put PiL in the public conversation.
I'd heard "killing joke" described as being post punk. But it never made any sense whatsoever until i heard PiL with Johnny here who is definitely post punk. 😂
Really? I like it all up to '9'. I'd say the last great PIL track is Disappointed. A unique statement on friendship and such a great piece of music....plus great live!!
@@davidsanderson5918 It's a goodie, but by 9 PiL had lost the mystique that could still be found on this and previous records. They had become college rock. (The blue blazer long gone by then.)

I love how Johnny’s prepared to put himself out there for what he believes in which is brave in this day and age.
Always loved Johnny's crazy stare! And his crazy voice with such a thrill!

Sorry but the Commercial Zone is way better. Without keith levene pil is not the same
The guy behind John is Martin Atkins,as PiL were basically a duo around this time.

I acnt believe that in 2022 there is no one as honest or reviving the punk scene for the kids. Love you Johny.
Como será q é ser uma das pessoas mais importantes do cenário musical ......
I don't know what it is, but this is good. I think because it's real.
In many ways PIL were so much more revolutionary than The Sex Pistols.
I love them all XD
Daniel Eyre false
You kidding right?
breakfastmachine: No Daniel Eyre is completely on the money; there was nothing in the least bit revolutionary about The Pistols..... apart from the sloganeering.
dqve11 Everything the Sex pistols did was already done years before them. They popularized the genre in Britain sure but that's about it

Me and my younger bro saw this video on vh1 classic over 10 years, ago, I'm 24 now, He's 23...we were laughing hysterically at this monstrosity. Lol
+Steve Gongos you do know the video is a piss take right ? ad the guy above was talking about the video not the group.....
Kiss is a good band to some people.. By the looks of it, he's a Bowie fan, which is even better...
John Lydon!

Love this track it has such a sexy baseline and sexy saxophone throughout the whole track 😎💓✌🏻

Love the song, but how much speed went up Mr Rotten's nostrils in the making of that clip? Haha!
Not a drop. John has said repeatedly that he thinks drugs are pointless, and he witnessed first hand what they can do with his bandmates.
