  • One of my favourite underwater photography sites is a shore dive at Inverinate on the shores of Loch Duich, near Eilean Donan Castle in the Highland region of Scotland. This is quite a deep and low energy site, so great care is needed to avoid a blizzard of silt, but perseverance is rewarded with sightings of all three UK species of Sea Pen and spectacular Fireworks Anemones.

I’m from a wee village on the Skye side of Inverinate and I’ve always wondered what lurked under the water at Loch Duich. I just snorkel in and around Lochalsh, the south of Skye and Plockton so far…..I’m 45 and learned to swim in these waters as a kid. Thanks for sharing your video - gorgeous footage!

Glad you liked it. It's a special place! I've dived on the other shore of Loch Duich, near Letterfearn, but Inverinate is a favourite of mine.

Forgot to say, where you entered the water is where loads of otters clamber in and out of the loch. There’s always loads of them and some are fairly bold and will hang around for a while and show off!
