Scuba diving Minard Bay, Loch Fyne, Scotland

- A underwater narrated scuba dive along the west side of Minard Bay, Loch Fyne. Narrated using an OTS Guardian full face mask to record the audio underwater. The bad weather forces us to seek shelter and we visit a dive site I've not dived in a number of years.

Yeah thanks for that, it's amazing the amount of things that crop up in the videos that you don't notice in the water. I've still not fixed it!
The scary Sea Tree is pretty wild.
I was not expecting it and gave me a fright when I turned round and I was nearly in it.

Loch Fyne is a great place to dive no matter the weather, whether from shore or boat there's always somewhere you can get in.
Hmmm... I thought you we're only allowed 6 scallops per boat in Scotland now or has that changed again?

The regulation is pretty clear an unlicensed fishing boat may take no more than 6 scallops in the Scottish zone in any day. The application of the legislation is less clear, does a dive club rib count as a fishing boat? The spirit of the legislation was “to target unlicensed fishermen fishing commercially under the guise of conducting a hobby.” they also state “no one is attempting to prevent genuine hobby fishermen from catching ‘one for the pot’...” so my interpretation is that as long as it's not for commercial gain and only small amounts for personal consumption (not defined by Marine Scotland) are involved then it's okay, whether a boat is involved or not.
You should video someone's fishing tackle and fight with a fish under water mate that's will be worth a watch see how thay take it and fight you 👍
Thanks for the suggestion James. I have thought about baiting to attract fish to a location to see if I can film them but have not considered filming tackle underwater. Fish tend to be frightened by our bubbles and we have to be quite close due to the visibility so it would pose some challenges.
Would you dive in to loch awe this a much clearer water and has big cannibal trout
@@jamesmcshane5248 I've not dived in Loch Awe but I have dived in Loch Lomond, I'm assuming the conditions are similar. In the freshwater lochs there is little if any bottom life so not much reason to go there. You do get shoals of fish under docks etc. but the chances of seeing fish outside of this are poor. As divers we can only see about 5-10m and fish can see you long before you see them. To video successfully you have to be a lot closer, 2-3m max.

@@jamesmcshane5248 Like any sport kit is expensive especially if you buy it all new. I would suggest that you seek out a nearby diving club. They will be able to give you ideas on training and kit to suit your needs and budget. So check out the Scottish Sub Aqua Club (scotsac) or the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) for a branch near you. Hope that helps.
