Indonesian people are one of those who, in my opinion, are friendly and happy to help, but if you don't speak Indonesian it might be a different story! Try to learn Indonesian even a little bit, I think it will be very useful if we have small problems. And Indonesian is a language that is easy to learn and understand! As long as we are on vacation and can speak Indonesian, we will be very happy to enjoy our vacation.

For us Indonesian, bahasa Indonesia is a bless because we only need to learn just this 1 language to communicate with all Indonesian brothers from other regions - from Aceh to Papua.
It is also a bit curse for foreigners, as not much of Indonesian have need to speak in English. This has been change in recent years as a lot of younger generation now learn at least 3 languages: bahasa Indonesia, bahasa daerah/local traditional language, and English as well.

Thank you for making me thinking about Indonesian generosity. I think our kindness to help people came from our cultural roots. Our parents and elders always teach us to be kind and helping people is an important value for our social lives. On the other hand, many people become more individualistic, and many others try to manipulate our kindness and do some scam things. I'm pretty sure, if you're not doing vlog challenge and you're really need something to eat or somewhere to sleep, and they trust you that you're not scam, many Indonesian people would like to help you in any possible way. Have a good trip while you're exploring our country and inspiring more people.

as a person who lives in Jakarta I can't believe this works even though it's hard, if you want to sleep for a while I recommend you go to GBK Hutan Kota (Forest City) in front of SCBD, don't forget to bring a mat to sleep on

In my opinion, maybe the problem is the language barrier in Indonesia for tourists. Basically, most ordinary people in Indonesia cannot use English because in the community in Indonesia they rarely use English even though they have been taught during in schools. After all, of course, the language will be remembered if it is practiced daily. Regarding Indonesian citizens who are willing to help, it's because of our belief that if we help people who are in trouble, we will get something in return, whether from a different person. As long as the assistance given is incidental in nature and still within the limits of what we have. Moreover, assistance regarding money and service assistance, it's not a big problem as long as we can afford it, because helping others doesn't always have to be rich first. Many who have the principle of money can still be sought, but kindness as a human being comes from good behavior.

But as Indonesian, I understand that we have this soft spot for people who are in need especially foreigners who seem lost or need help in general😅. I'd been an expat before, I'm glad I treat my expat friends well in Indonesia, so when I moved to the US, people help me, I believe it's a good karma 🙏. Also you might be aware that you have this white privilege, and this factor plays a big role in Indonesians' mindset. I thought you might agree with me on this. Anyways, keep inspiring 😀

I hope you get to visit more of East Java especially the smaller town😁, I live in Mojokerto and it's rich with historical heritage, temples even human fossils were found here. Unfortunately a lot of the museum collection is getting lesser year by year, it's sad that these stuff is getting sold to another country (that's what I heard). It would be interesting if you could look into that.

indonesia is one of the best country but the only thing i hate about em is when you`re in hotel and they served a lot of fruits a lot of fruits everyday and the food is super ultra mega spicy (well like thai spice) but overall indonesia is the beest! xoxo love from ph

If you want to nap, just go to the mosque and sleep there. OR, there is plenty of park-bench to sleep on in GBK stadium. And also there is mosque in GBK stadium too, plenty of people having a nap inside the mosque. I did sleep sometime inside my car in the parking lot around GBK.
Well Harry, good challenge, it's really hard to communicate with local who doesn't know english, you have to know that actually hey really want to help if they understan what you mean, second they scared that if they help you, you may not comfortable with their house with their hospitality. That's why it is easier to get instan help like buy you something like that.
