    What are you thoughts on debuffing? Or are you more of the stack additively type? 🧙‍♂

    Finally a channel that actually plays the game. I still can't believe there were NO people talking about Expanded Arsenal abuse back in the day.

    the way that demon perished trying to chase the prophet of pestilence is impressive.. thanks for posting another compact and entertaining video

    Great overview of the top options. Would be interesting to see a video on the "must take" buffs and what class combinations could provide them.

    Incense Synthesizer is the best Alchemist...hands down!

      it's majorly hampered by only getting level/rounds a day of the incense. So a level 20 incense synthesizer gets 20 rounds, a level 20 bard has 45 rounds.
      They let extra performance/mythic inspiration work on Martyr paladin, but not incense synthesizer for some reason.

    Witch of Gyronna also has +2 to everything that inflicts fear. Fear is also mind affecting. You can have banshee blast hit a bunch of guys, fearing them, dispelling them, and doing a ton of sonic damage

    When it comes to fusing magic, I think combined single target with AoE spells is significantly better. The azata zippy magic chain lightening combo in particular is very strong.
    I am not that keen on the prophet of pestilence. I cannot remember the details, but there is a distinct awkwardness in a capstone which spreads the effect AOE, which really just encourages you to max stat damage, and lower level upgrades allowing you to sacrifice stat damage for debuff effects and spreading effects.
    If you dont mind respeccing, its fine, but I do, and either I waste its level 20 potential or in the mean time have a build that stat drains single target with no other effect, which honestly isn't very effective. And you need to play a demon to get the DCs high, but if you are doing that, you cannot help but wonder why not just play a weird/phantasmal killer build. Even selective/persistent/heightened stinking cloud is arguably a significantly stronger corrupter build than prophet of pestilence, and with demon DCs, you hardly need to debuff for the spell to land.

    • @themagescorner
      @themagescorner  Před 2 měsíci

      The prophet of pestilence is slow to take off, but I think of it as getting all the shaman hexes + ability damage on top which can also reduce saves. Either by the stat damage itself (for example lowering Con reduces fort save) and/or the mutations on top of Plague of Abaddon which can, for example, reduce fort even more - thus making it likely too that the Plague will keep ticking.
      This in end will make your save-or-die spells much easier to land.
      It's kind of a snowball effect - it can spiral hard out of control, or if the enemy makes all the initial saves, then sure, the archetype will be just a regular shaman then.

    • @notalefty999
      @notalefty999 Před 2 měsíci

      @@themagescorner My point is about the optimal mutations before the capstone and once you have the capstone being totally different.
      With the capstone, you are best to maximise one stat drain, have it apply AOE automatically and take no other mutations. But it will be lousy build in the mean time.
      If you take the decent mutations, however, it will be nowhere near as lethal once you have the capstone. It feels like a class you have to respec.

    • @themagescorner
      @themagescorner  Před 2 měsíci

      @@notalefty999 Sure, personally I like focusing on Str/Con drain - but usually I will build a party to complement this style of play too. The mutations just take a while to come online due to prerequisites.
      But like I said, you can always just do evil eye, prot luck and other hexes early on. But yes, it's not an early game build but I think it can be quite good mid-to-late.

    • @acrab6527
      @acrab6527 Před měsícem +1

      The capstone also has a second effect:
      Any enemy with a disease is immediately, with no save, also given plague of abadon.
      So fungal infestation on the weakest enemy, kill weakest enemy, fungal infestation explodes and spreads to every other enemy. every other enemy now ALSO has plague of abadon. Or just plague cloud.

      i highly suggest to go with some of following options:
      Skald is hands down the best class in the game and has massive power early already
      The new mariner Ranger archetype with the hyppogriff can nearly solo unfair maze
      Sylvan Sorcerer is amazing becoz of pet power (also druids but i dont think druids can carry you in the maze)
      Demonslayer Ranger is insane through the entire game for obvious reasons
      Cavalier is easymode thanks to pet and charge boosts (charge is very powerful in this game)
      If you dont like cheesy pet builds and you dont wanna run a skald becoz everyone tells you to, theres hope:
      2 handed fighter is amazing early mid and lategame, also it allows you to multiclass into a vital striker after lvl 3 or literally anything non caster after lvl 7
      Kineticists start strong and scale very well and can certainly carry you early (psychokineticist worked really nice for me)
      Slayer is pretty much a mix of a demonslayer ranger without pet and a fighter but with unique feats and sneak attack (very powerful class)
      Dual Cursed Oracle can do the trick for you if you want a mage but feel like sorc/wizard/witch aint popping off at lvl 2
      Freebooter Ranger gives you a full 20 bab class with a unique debuff and melee buff (both stacking with everything) (also solid choice for wenduag level up to lvl 2)
      Important to avoid in the early game: lightning damage, poison damage and generally caster "dps" (if you make a caster use grease, sleep, hideous laughter etc)
      General tips for unfair maze: equip 2 handers on everyone who can and charge those bastards.
      I had very good success on equipping no armor on some fights and just equip ranged weapons, run through the entire dungeons with the water elemental for example.
      The maze is too early for any build to pop off, so you need to cheese everything. charging with 2 handers and kiting both work very well, the scary ones are the barbarians as they hit for 32 damage on a regular hit, while seela has 22 hp ---> permadead in 1 hit. you cannot waste the blur potion on them if you want to beat the water ele, so you need to kill them either in a single knockdown (grease) or charge them and hope for crits and those idiots missing their attack and the bite back to back XD (enlarge person is the name of the game if that is your strategy or only option)
      good luck and also take into consideration to lower difficulty during the maze to hard and going back to unfair when you have access to shops and lvl 3 after the hosilla fight.

    Oh there are one spells for Insquisitor, Litany of Eloquene, which is Swift spell, can stun enemy one turn, no saves, just spell resistance, and this is the important note, Since living Grimoire is prepare spell caster, so they can heighten it and all use as Swift action.

    • @themagescorner
      @themagescorner  Před měsícem

      Good point on the living grimoire, I was trying to find a good use for that archetype.
      Metamagic might be the solution!

    • @violau8550
      @violau8550 Před měsícem +1

      @@themagescorner they have....I think 4 spells are swift spell, so now my living Grimoire Nenio is killing machine, dual wield rapier ( or any speed weapon off hand) and holy book main hand, the thing is after your swift spell or charge attack, you want the holy book boost. Use swift meta magic rod for Divine favor and divine power, now she hit hard.
      But her build online real late, not until you get 3rd level spell and mythic abundant spell.
      As long as we make use of this class that use INT and prepare spell caster, means we can boost them even further with court poet. I actually learn a lot by keep trying to use this class well.

    Magic deceiver's Inhibit Courage and greatness has no saves, lower enemies 4 saves is huge. But gonna do the song before the combat start though
