    I'm building the exact kit right now myself for the Art in Miniature contest in Gothenburg here in Sweden in 2 weeks.
    I must tell you about the skulls used as roundels. They used Finnish markings, blue swasticas on a white background, but as the Winter war ended and they returned to Sweden, they wheren't allowed to do so in Finnish markings, so they got creative.
    The yellow letters went from A-L, and are quite easy to mask out yourself if you want to make another individual.

    I'm just getting ready to start back after 60yrs away from it , it's not the same now. I like that your not afraid of pointing out a mistake or errors[ not that I would see them]. GOOD VIDEO enjoyed it.

    Wonderful build! One tip for the primer! If you mist a coat of mr leveling thinner to the black primer, it will make the surface perfectly smooth!

      Thank you! Yeah I'm really sorry about those..they ended up taking the entire afternoon with a lot of frustration haha. I'll do a dedicated video to rigging one day.

    Great job....I can't believe how small it is! Very hard to get some life into a paint job that small, but you did it.

    Dude, you did such a sweet job on this one! I've still got the earlier Shuttleworth/Irish Air Corps version of this kit to do at some point, but will have to seriously consider getting those PE and Resin parts that you used - especially those parts for the rigging!
    Edit: Using CA glue as a filler is also something I might have to borrow :P

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  Před rokem +1

      Thanks v. much mate!! Yeah definitely have a crack at the shuttleworth mk.I, its a lovely little Weekender - and yeah, the extra parts really give it a spark! Cheers mate

  • @kimavery788
    @kimavery788 Před rokem +1

    Pretty sure the MkI had two prong wooden prop where as the MkII had the three prong aluminium prop.

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  Před rokem

      You are correct - under fairey production the mk.ii was fitted with a variable pitch 3 bladed prop. The first few j-8a's also shared this component, however the decision was made (very soon after delivery in Sweden) to switch back to the earlier type - nobody is entirely sure why they did this, but it's likely down to the blade pitching system seizing up in the cold weather :)

    Interesting besides being a fine build it’s also a historical gem
    Sweden during ww2 was a neutral country and didn’t take part in any action
    Wrong , in fact we did. During the winterwar in Finland 1939 ?
    Sweden set up a volunteer squadron called F19 to fight against the Soviets
    And they did quite well. But when they were returning to Sweden
    After their time in service , they painted over the insignias as a protest
    for the lack of further Swedish support for the Finns
    It was hard times and the Finns were forced to negotiate with its attackers
    history sadly often repeat itself.
    So end of history class
    Great build anyway didn’t know that in was in Airfix product range

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  Před rokem +1

      Very interesting bit of history there! I'd heard of F19 but didn't know about the rest of the narrative - thanks very much mate
