The online exam is done at Pearson Vue Education Center. I am currently a nurse, switching over to ABA. I have my bachelor of psychology and is working on my Master of Psychology specializing in ABA and I think it is definitely worth it. It is challenging because of all the different steps I have to take and the amount of information I have to learn to get to my final goal, BCBA. Its an rewarding field, the job market is great, you have open up your own center, work in a center, work in the home, or travel. it has a lot of opportunities available. I would recommend it.

@@RICARDOMONTES12 not sure if you are still looking for this information, but not necessarily. It depends on the school. The school I am going to is just looking for a bachelor's of any kind and a grade point average of over 2.9, but their ABA is considered a Masters of Special Education. Some colleges have it under psych, so you would need to figure out what the university is requiring for masters enrollment.

However, I am wondering if it'll lessen my chances of a better job if I get a masters in Education versus ABA. Additionally, my next question is are those 1,500 paid or unpaid hours? • @ABAmadeeasy
      @ABAmadeeasy  Před 5 lety +1

According to the BACB, "Acceptable fields of study are behavior analysis, education, or psychology." So you should be good to go! It will not lessen your chances once you have board certification. And those hours are paid. The only ones that may not be paid are the ones with direct supervision but that depends on your agency. Hope this helps!

I'm thinking about going for a Masters in Behavioral Psychology, would I be able to take the exam and meet the requirements for BCBA after I get my masters degree in a two year program, or will I need to continue with additional courses since I didn't take ABA related courses for my BA?

If you go on BACB website, they tell you specifically which courses you need to take in order to sit for the exam. I would imagine there would be a lot of overlap but you have to look on the website or call them directly and ask. But yeah as long as you fulfill the requirements during your Master's, it does not matter that you did not take the related classes during your undergrad.

    • @burneraccount9100

You need a Master degree that has a "verify course sequence" by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Most Master degrees that meet the verify course sequence are indeed psychology related. for example they are ' M.S Applied Psychology', 'M.S in Behavioral Psychology', M.A in Counseling Psychology. If you google BCBA Examination Pass Rates, you'll in short end up with a list of all university that currently have a 'Verify course Sequence' and thus have students sitting for and taking the exam for certification as a BCBA. As far as your Bachelor Degree, most A.B.A programs perfer B.A/B.S in Psychology, but some institution will offer bridge programs for students with a bachelor in another major.

No, I would recommend getting hours during undergrad. Two reasons. 1) You will have experience in the field and know earlier if it is the right career choice for you. 2) Once you complete your bachelors, you will have your hours accumulated and will be able to sit for the BCaBA exam immediately instead of graduating and using the next 1-2yrs accumulating hours before being able to sit for the exam. So, it depends on what you want to do. If you’re looking into going to clinical work, getting your BCBA-D doesn’t make a difference billing-wise. So there’s no need for the BCBA-D. People that are going more into the academia/research route will already have the qualifications for a BCBA-D, so they’ll get that level of certification but functionally it allows the same privileges of a BCBA.

ABA workers have a great lack of education and are not even educated about neurodevelopmental disabilities, the BACB leadership believes 1 month's training is all a person needs to safely help disabled children with no education about their disability. A great portion of psychology is not included in ABA education, ask ABA workers in comment sections "who is Albert Bandura?" or "What are the differences between compliance, internalisation, and identification?"
Then see extremely few will be able to provide the answers.

Well, well, well... if it isn't my favorite denialist trying to bully people to try to sound important. ABA continues to grow as the most empirically backed, evidence based procedure shown to help autistics. You are misinformed and only trying to sell your little diary that will never be published. You are a paint salesman, your only "research" is on Google, you're a nobody. Nobody listens to you because you lie to make yourself sound better (but fail miserably). Where's that article you said you have about the non-EBP floortime being more effective than the established EBP, ABA? Why do you keep ignoring me when I ask for the article? Are you lying again?

I find it disgraceful ABA are not even educated about neurodevelopmental disabilities themselves.
Until ABA updates its scientific methods, its functions of behavior, and incorporates modern day psychology - including neurology, child development, educational psychology, and other vital research - it cannot be considered to be a safe, effective, or ethical field.
There should be something like this on every consent form:
ABA therapy focuses on the behavior of your child but does not take into account modern research in neurology, biophysical factors in behavior, neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma, or child development.
The methodology behind applied behavior analysis was founded in the ’50s and ’60s and your analyst’s education may not have incorporated more modern discoveries in psychology or behaviorism.

Wrong. You're dumb. ABA has thousands of scientific articles showing its effectiveness. Why don't you pick up some scientific articles and stop getting all your info from blogs?

@@danielmoore4024 you are a denialist and a misinformed liar. It's funny you say you're a master at autism, yet, nobody knows who you are, nobody ever will, your diary will never get published, you will work at home depot until you're 80. You are not important, nobody would care if you went away tomorrow. Stop bullying people in the field of ABA. You don't understand it, keep your mouth shut

I was hoping this video was going to have the sexy Lisa Guerrero from Inside Edition, but we instead have a 1/10 Lisa Guerrero instead. My eyes are sad.
