    Here is the oil pan I used. I do like ones that seal up for transportation, or allowing you to change oil on a couple of things before recycling it. amzn.to/35nKTtB

      Chad Payne Yeah it was a lot harder on previous generations. They don’t even put these things on the trial bosses, so a simple part that comes off easy was likely in the design plan.

    Just removed mine today. Looks a lot better. I removed all the screws and tabs as well and although you really don’t notice it, I have to say the finish looks better with the valance on due to hiding the hardware and locations for the hardware. Even with that said, mine is staying off. 👌🏼

    Great video! My only suggestion would be to always put the vehicle in the gear you want BEFORE removing the parking brake. It seems to prevent that "hard shift" you get when you do it the other way around.

    • @jav_eee
      @jav_eee Před 3 lety +2

      The proper way is to put the emergency brake on before you shift into park and let off the brakes. This prevents the weight of the vehicle from resting on the park pawl. Then when it’s time to leave, shift into gear before disengaging the parking brake, as you stated.

  • @jadahoob99
    @jadahoob99 Před 3 lety

    I am currently looking at a 2018 GMC Sierra and this was a big question for me (it should be similar, I hope). One of the greatest features of a truck is the higher ground clearance. I had recently looked at another truck that had the driver's side end of the dam ripped loose and and hanging down. I assumed that I would just remove it if I bought it (if I could). I think it looks better without the air dam too! Thanks!

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  Před 3 lety +1

      jadahoob99 🤞The trail boss doesn’t come with it, so it was designed to not be apart of the molding. Not sure if that was the case in 2018. Good luck!

    The GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500 only have a ground clearance of about 8 inches. The Ford F 150 with no front air dam has a ground clearance of about 10 inches. Do you think this air dam is the primary reason the Chevy and GMC are so pathetic for a truck with their ground clearance? Is there something else under the truck restricting the ground clearance. I'm looking at buying a new truck, and a big negative for me is the difference in ground clearance. Also, I've noticed the Fords without an air dam seem to get better MPGs. Also, the approach angle up front is a terrible only 19 degrees on GM trucks where Fords are more like 23-26 degrees. For those who go off-road occasionally, these are important factors. If it is just this plastic air dam up front, that would make a big difference. I wouldn't even care if it got scaped up some if I couldn't remove it. Thanks for the video. Interested in your thoughts.

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  Před 2 lety

      Maybe… but as a Minnesotan, unless someone is right in front of me slinging it up, that wouldn’t be an issues. It’s your tires that that throw it on your truck… Unless your drift bombing lol, and in that case I’d still take the ground clearance. They don’t even sell air dams on the Trail Boss.
