  • A torque wrench is a staple in any cyclists toolkit, and this new Feedback Sports Range click wrench is among the best I've tested, and that includes the Park Tool TW 5.2.

    I watched this yesterday and literally received a Silca Ti Torque wrench yesterday and the ratchet mech is plastic and skips occasionally straight out of the box at torques as low as 4-5Nm, so I immediately returned and bought this one! Thanks

    I will agree that I think other brands have outlasted most of the Park tools that I have in my shop. The best small torque wrench I've had and still use is a Pedro's, and will admit that I like the softer case for more protection. The Pedro's torque wrench is also a "click" model and I've used it for years, with no difference in sound of click or "feel" of the click. Repair stands: for the mobile portion of the business, the Park stand I have far outlasted the more recent Feedback Sports stand, and that was a very quick, hard lesson. It's always great to hear other suggestions on choices as well. Thanks for sharing!

    Cool, if I had not recently purchased the Unior (1-20nm) torque wrench, I would pick this one up - cheaper and has those extension. Looks awesome! Great review as always,

    I wonder how this Feedback Sports model compares to the Effetto Mariposa line of torque wrenches. Effetto sort of promote that as a very premium and accurate mini torque wrench. Would love to see all these different models (including some of the fixed value wrenches) go up against your new Torque Test Machine of Truth (tm).

      I've never come across a single bike shop in my country that uses industrial-grade torque tools. It's either a Chinese or Taiwanese brand, Park Tool or any cycling-related brand.

    I bought a Lexivon torque wrench about a year ago and ended up immediately returning it because I wasn't getting that click. I actually couldn't tell when i was hitting the correct torque. I went with a Vibrelli torque wrench instead and it's much better. But now seeing this one I might end up getting this because of how compact it is. Update: nevermind $120 is a little too rich for my blood, lol.

    Can this tool be used to loosen things when it's at it's reset setting? Or is it primarily just for tightening? I have a prestacycle ratchet torque tool which is like a beam type and I can use it for loosening and tightening, but reading off the display can be awkward, so considering getting this too, but if I need to switch between tools I when loosening and tightening I might just reconsider.
    EDIT: I'll answer my own question. Their video suggests it can't be used to loosen it.

    • @yonglingng5640
      @yonglingng5640 Před měsícem

      Torque tools should never be used to loosen any fastener, with the exception of Prestacycle's TorqKeys (do not use to loosen stubborn fasteners). Just use a regular hex or Torx tool to loosen.

    Bike specific brands are only viable for bike specific tools like bottom bracket sockets, spoke tension meters and hydraulic brake tools. Get a Wera or some other quality tool brand.

    In your "does torque grip matter" video can you answer as well what happens if you accidentally left your torque wrench set to 5Nm instead of resetting? Asking for a friend.

      haha good question

    • @yonglingng5640
      @yonglingng5640 Před měsícem

      If a torque wrench's internals are constantly under tension, its accuracy will run off. Therefore, even if it indicates like, say, 5 Nm, the actual torque value will be higher than this. This is exactly what happened to one shop's torque wrench and it ran out-of-spec in just a few months. Mine has been in service since October 2020 and is still in-spec to this day.
      That out-of-spec torque wrench in question? It's an Effetto Mariposa Giustaforza 2-16, a very expensive Italian torque wrench.
      Stahlwille's mechanical torque wrenches are one of the only, if not the only, analogue torque wrenches that don't require the user to reset them back to their lowest torque setting thanks to a wear-resistant trigger system with a flexible rod. Look up "stahlwille flexible rod principle" to see how it works.

    I'm sure this is a great wrench, and I love torque tools, but 14 nm is way too low for a shop tool. My torque multi-tool that goes in my top tube bag goes up to 10 (not clicky, sadly). And my rear axles all require 25. I remove the rear wheel every time I deep clean the bike, which I'm doing after pretty much every long ride considering how muddy it is right now, here in NorCal.

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  Před 2 měsíci +1

      25Nm??? You got grade 8 axles or something? Anyways most ppl will have a low and high range torque wrench, eg 2-14 and a 20+Nm tool.

    Tekton TRQ21101: $60, bigger range, better design, better case. With the extra $60 you can buy a set of useful long socket bits, normal socket bits, and have about $20 left.
    Im not saying the feedback is a bad tool, but it is literally double what it should cost.
    Loose bits are crap. They're incredibly cheap, almost always crappy metal, and they're a filler part to make it look like your overpriced wrench was a good deal. Stop using them in your home shop unless you love unnecessary annoyance when they inevitably fall on the floor while you're trying to use them. Get a set of socket bits that match the drive size of each of your torque wrenches and you'll be a happier wrencher for thr rest of your life.
    Feedback stands have been the home gamer gold standard for a decade, but no one ever called them inexpensive. No reason to go with this torque tool, however.

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  Před 5 měsíci

      I’ve got a couple tektons for heavier duty stuff. They aren’t bad. This one you mentioned is as big as the park and the Nm scale is a converted in-lb scale so it’s not intuitive. Not sure what you mean about loose bits; is a magnetic head which holds them in place nicely

      I'm looking forward to seeing comparisons especially with non bicycle specific wrenches and cheaper ones as well. Bicycle specific tools always seem like they cost more than they really should when compared to say the auto industry imho.
