Hi Mike and Jess. Through the Fire was composed by David Foster in 1984 and sung by Chaka Khan. Piano in the Dark by Brenda Russel. I think the song was released in 1988. This is Gigi and her band called GG Vibes. They are playing live and the audience is requesting what they want and they play it. If you wanna hear old-school music, GG Vibes is the right channel. Hers a suggestion: Do NOT react to 'Unholy' until you have listened to at least 3 or 4 of their other songs first. You mentioned Karen Carpenter, so try "I Won't Last a Day Without You". Maybe Nora Jones, "Don't Know Why", then "Fly Me to the Moon", like that. Then, once you fully appreciate Gigi's amazing chameleon qualities, you will be ready for Unholy.

Its amusing how most American reactors are clueless about their culture. Am Filipino but like many Filipinos here, young or old, I know Chaka Khan and Brenda Russel and the titles of the song you're reacting to from the time the songs were first released and played here in the early 90's. If you knew the original, it would help expand your reactions by making a comparison of the original to her performance in a positive way and the skills and artistic choices she made to make it her own.

I saw recently that she collapsed on stage while performing. Apparently she was in a car accident earlier. I haven’t heard what happened after.
Gigi De Lana begun her hiatus which was supposedly to start June and July but got it earlier because of car accident while going to another gig last May 14, 2023. She is recuperating from accident and at the same time treatment of her vocal cords nodules. She is sad but okay now as shown on her latest video she posted in answer to her fans and followers requesting for her status. We missed her terribly😢❤❤❤❤

You've reacted professional and famous Filipino singers why not try to react ordinary Filipinos singing in the malls, in drinking sessions, in the party rven in school. It's funny how so many younger people know nothing of 80's music, the artists, the albums, the songs, nothing.
No offence intended, it's just something that I have been noticing from all these reaction videos that youtubers are
doing on this particular GiGi video. And none of them seem to look anything up before they review the video.
That not how our reactions work. We've heard plenty of stuff from that time period and before. We only react to what we are requested to and we go in blind. Sometimes we realize we've heard the song before as we get into it. Sometimes we don't. We have fulltime jobs and three kids and also have over 2000 requests right now with more coming in everyday. We don't have the time to research before hand, and even if we did we wouldn't, we think our blind reactions are some of our best. So do most that watch our content. We love going through the comments after and being informed by our community. If you want to react to someone who has already heard the song before and knows all about it and breaks it all down to you when you already know yourself that's fine. I'm sure there are channels that do that. This is not one.
