    I don’t care that I may sound soppy, but I genuinely had a lump in my throat of complete and utter happiness for you both. I’ve enjoyed your videos for a number of years, I’ve watched you “grow” and become this strong, beautiful, inspiring woman with many important messages to share. To see you in your dream home is a joy in itself. I know you’re incredibly grateful for everything you have but Darling, it’s YOU and Alex that has made this happen. Your hard work and dedication is paying off. I’m just so happy that I’m here to see you enjoying life. I Love You both. xxx

    A suggestion for a paint color for the north facing guest bedroom (if you can find it in the UK): Ibis White by Sherwin Williams. I painted my bedroom in my family home that color years ago (which is also a north facing bedroom) and it just makes the room look illuminated with a soft glow. It’s a white with very subtle peachy undertones and it almost looks like white walls being kissed by the light of the golden hour all the time. I think it’s a great warm white to use in spaces that need a little dose of sunshine.

    For the TV, why not mount the TV on an arm on the wall? You can tuck it back against the wall where it is when you aren't watching it, and when you want to watch it, pull it out. Then it also doesn't dominate the room. A friend did this in a similar space and it worked great. There are some great wall mounts that extend out securely and then fold back flush against the wall.

    Would you consider removing the door from the living room? I don't imagine you would ever have it closed off and you do have to work around it slightly with the furniture. My parents cover their veg beds with fishing nets that have washed up on the beaches over the years. Worth keeping an ear out for that kind of thing after a big storm!
    Can drape the nets over a frame when things are growing & with empty beds, even just having the net flat to the earth deters cats because they can't dig around without getting tangled! (just to clarify, we've never actually had anything get stuck!)

  • @linzertube
    @linzertube Před 3 lety +1

    Did you try the tv on a bench/console or dresser to the right of the doorway? There, it would not dominate the room but still be as comfortable to view from the couches. You could keep the couches and big chair/s against the walls, for a conversation spot, with the fireplace as the focal point. In the evening, you could be lying down on your couches and chair/s for tv viewing.
    How about building a small 2x3 sand bed for the cats to pee and poo in, and place it just on this side of the fence so the cat won’t even bother to go to the veg beds?
    The garden is so lovely and seems to go on forever. The growing beds are awesome, too. I like your configuration for the patio furniture.

    Congrats on the beautiful house and garden. I've used chicken wire on the garden bed (bury it down about 1/2 inch and then put seeds or starts through the holes. Cats don't like digging and getting their claws stuck in the wire. They also sell stuff specifically for this, but it doesn't always help in veg gardens.

  • @barrbuff
    @barrbuff Před 3 lety

    We have same problem with cats and raised beds. If chicken wire on the gait doesn't work, I suggest making a more attractive place for the cat to go wherever you deem is a good spot. Rough up the soil in that spot to make it inviting and easy to dig, perhaps put some sand there or loose mulch. They like the raised beds because it's easy to dig in with the loose dirt. Love the new place and especially the outdoor part of it.

When my husband of 52 years died I had to sell our little place in the woods. It sold quickly (sadly) because it had beautiful vines on the sides and looked like a fairy house in the woods. ( moved from Britain to Canada in 1967) I later learned that the parents of the people suggested getting rid of the vines. Just a thought you could put the TV on a swing arm on the wall to the left of the window have it kept to the wall when you are not watching and swing out the tv when you want to watch it. I feel like you may need an L shape configuration for your sofa so the longest sofa against the wall and one chair facing the fireplace with the door behind it you could put a small table between the sofa and chair on the corner of the L shape. Define the seating area with a rug. The only other thing is to build out a false front of the fire place where you can then set in the tv which could be lined with heat resistant panels and hidden wiring behind. A little more expensive but a cleaner finish.

    You should put your extra chair from the living room in the kitchen by the fireplace and your piano in the living room where the chair was. Two cozy places then.

    The blue flowers look like Muscari botryoides wich could be a grape hyacint and the other one is a Frittilaria meleagris wich I believe are called snake’s head in English.
    There are these fences made out of chestnut that you buy in a ”roll” that I think look so beautiful around a kitchen
    garden! They look simple and rustic. But Maybe he’ll just jump over it😂.

    In the US we call the little purple flowers grape hyacinth and the upside down tulip-style flower is Fritillaria or Guinea-Hen Flower

    10:44 the blue ones are called grape hyacinth (Muscari is the botanical name) and the reddish ones after those are called snake's head or chess flower (Fritillaria)

    The purple flowers are muscari aka grape hyacinths, the checkered ones are fritillaria meleagris. Powdered cinnamon or cayenne pepper sprinkled around perimeter are supposed to help deter animals from wanting to dig in certain areas. Just have to reapply occasionally. So excited for you two in your new home and looking forward to the new gardening content!

    That garden is beautiful!! I wonder since your fireplace may be too high for the tv, perhaps you guys can put the projector there instead! At least that way you guys can have that space be multifunctional ☺

    If you sold the oversized sofa and chairs and replaced with narrower sofwand just one chair and removed the door it wouldn’t be co crowded. Donna, Mikes wife

    Have you considered a projector? You can move your current tv to the bedroom and use a projector so it doesn’t take up too much space/ruin the aesthetic

    What if you mounted the TV on the wall its current angled against and then had a mount where you could pull it out or angle it so when you're spread out in the room yall can still see it.

    love your garden area, so beautiful. I wonder if, for now, you got a small table or stand to place your tv on and have it corner wise in the corner it is in now and in front of your shelving unit, large couch on the wall it is already on so you can see tv and out window, and one chair angled in the corner same area (wall) as the couch if it would fit. Then maybe put one chair somewhere else in your home since they do appear too large for your livingroom. If you have company and need another chair, you could use a ktichen chair or outside chair to bring in for the visit. Just a thought that may work for now and someday maybe purchase a new living room set that fits better? You have a lovely home. I enjoy seeing European homes as they have so much character. I live in Ontario Canada and although we have some older homes that are nice, they are not like those you have.
