    Got a brand new heritage in 2008 what a drama then in 2014 I got a brand new indian vintage joy from day one when you pay that much money you don't want drama and I thank Harley for the drama so I looked elsewhere and indian was like a reborn smile on my face.
    What ever you ride if it makes you happy that's what you want but it wasn't Harley but indian for me

    Harley and Indian are both fantastic in their own separate ways. I prefer older Harley motorcycles hence why I own a 1959 XLCH; however, I prefer the Polaris-guided Indian offerings over the past few resurgences that Indian went through after going belly up in the 1950s. I am not knocking either brand and still enjoy them both but I think that Indian bikes have a more modern and sportier design cue; whereas, Harley body lines haven't really changed much over the years. I think that while Indian does nod to the vintage bikes in some of its body lines and the look of the Thunderstroke engines in the big cruisers they still have a more modern flair to them and well the FTR is just wicked for a factory naked street-fighter/scrambler type unit. Harley needs to do a naked version of the Pan America so that they have something to rival the FTR because the Sportster S is not even close to being in the same league. Just my thoughts.

      @justinwreden89 Před rokem +1

      I gotta agree with you. Indian has definitely stepped up their game in terms of design and Harley needs to follow suit or risk being left behind. I love both Harley and Indian, but Harley hasn't really changed their design is a LONG time..I'd personally love a design that gives a nod to the old Panheads woth a modern flare to it.

    Outside looking in as a new rider. The street glide special hooked me. However, now with the resurgence of Indian and my need to be different. Indian Scout will be my first bike. I just wish Indian had stretched bags like Harley used to, now they've gone away from stretched bags for some reason.

    Indian will never have the dealer network that Harley has.Indian left in the 1950s and didn't return until 1999 with the Gilroy Indians until 2003 when they closed the door again. Then the name was bought again and started Indian back up for a few years then Polaris bought them.They are making good motorcycles with new ways of doing things.Harley are also making some of the best motorcycles they have ever made.Its good to have both Indian and Harley still building bikes.

  • @MichaelH416

    Harley owns that market decidedly. Harley has been consistent in the culture, where as Indian has come and gone and come back. Harley offers a greater support network than Indian. Harley offers better customization options. Indian’s engine is also no longer a traditional engine. Indian builds a great product. Off the showroom floor Indian offers more torque and HP than a stock Harley. Indian also charges a subscription to some of the infotainment features. I’m a loyal Harley guy and always will be. Harley needs to simplify the line up of bikes offered. Then they need to lower the price. Here’s to the next 120 years of H-D.

    The one thing that kept me from buying an Indian over Harley is the lack of dealerships at best you can find them in only the biggest cities. I’ve owned Harley’s and I’ll confess I like them but I’m not necessarily loyal to Harley. And even though I’ve never owned an Indian I certainly would… electric motorcycles I don’t think so the best part of owning a motorcycle is the ability to go to get on the road and go something I think would be severely hampered with an electric bike

    Lets get it straight. Harley and Indian have not been battling for the past century. Only Harley has been around that long. The indian name and rights have been bought 2 or more times and now rests in the hands of Polaris.

    • @MichaelH416
      @MichaelH416 Před 8 měsíci

      If you do end up having to push your bike somewhere, Harley offers a much larger support network than Indian. There are dealerships everywhere. Indian has closed several Indian dealerships by me lately, and not every Polaris dealership is equipped or trained to deal with Indians. You want to customize your bike? Harley offers way more options, both in house and aftermarket. You don’t see 100,000 Indians outside the Full Throttle Saloon at Sturgis for a reason. Harley is the more supported, more traditional choice. With that said, if you wanna spend money once and have a faster, torquier motorcycle off the showroom floor? Buy the Rogue. Just know you’re gonna face some limitations compared to owning a Harley.

      @@MichaelH416 I agree Harley has more services than Indian but the reason is because Harleys break down every 100 miles

    • @MichaelH416
      @MichaelH416 Před 8 měsíci

      @@mrdude3540 got over 150,000 miles on Harleys. Never had a major issue. I ride 15-20 thousand miles a year. I will concede that Harley has way more aftermarket customizations that can be done. If those are done by owners that don’t understand what they are doing I’m sure there are complications that arise. My buddy with the Street Glide is proof of that. I also have a friend who has a Heritage Softail and a Challenger. He rides the softail more cuz he has tried to modify his Challenger himself several times and now it doesn’t run right. They outsell Indian 10 to 1. Go to any rally and Harley represents 50 to 1 over Indian. You’re entitled to your opinion. Millions of people world wide don’t agree with you.
