If you watch their team this year so closely, the Chiefs were basically what Brady was on his second run on his dynasty with NE. It was him, Gronk, OK weapons on the outside and out of the backfield. It is so Brady like what Mahomes is doing right now.

We've never seen someone do what Mahomes has done. People dont appreciate the insanity of it. In his first year as a starter, he threw 50 TDs, won MVP, and nearly beat the GOAT in the AFCCG. Since then, hes basically never slowed down. Its bonkers.
People seem to forget how pedestrian Brady’s numbers were those first few years (really everything prior to when they got moss) still credit to him he found a way to win but nobody really thought of his as the best qb in the league it was always manning, favre, Rodgers. mahomes is on a better career arc so far because everyone already believes he’s the best qb in the nfl but I have a hard time believing he will beat the lifetime numbers of Tom because who the hell is going to play 20+ years

I've been tuning into NFL games since 1972, and in all those years, I've never witnessed a quarterback come close to the level of excellence exhibited by number 15. He's undoubtedly the greatest quarterback the game has ever seen.

So my kids went to Texas Tech, and we had season tickets and watched Mahomes for a couple of years when he was there. I said repeatedly that he had a great arm, but that his crazy, undisciplined, school yard style of play wouldn’t translate to the NFL. I guess I could have been wrong on that. You might not want to pay attention to any of my stock market picks either.

@Apocalypse2031 You have no way of knowing that. Brady got his ass whipped in the Super Bowl twice by Eli Manning and once by Nick Foles. Does that mean one of those two is the GOAT? Obviously not. Brady is still the GOAT for now. But to say unequivocally that Mahomes has no chance of taking that title given the fact that he’s already accomplished more in his first six seasons than any other quarterback in history including Brady is ridiculous. Of course it’s a realistic possibility.

Brady only had 11 yards more passing in the first game and Manning had more yards passing in the second. You also excluded external factors when you pointed that out about Mahomes losing to the Bucs even though the Chiefs had lost their ENTIRE starting offensive line due to injury prior to the game which caused Mahomes to be pressured and hit on almost every snap. That same starting offensive line that wasn’t there played earlier in the season when the Mahomes actually beat Brady in Tampa. In spite of that fact Mahomes still threw for 69 more yards than Brady (who only had 201 yards passing). You can’t have it both ways by saying it was the defense when Manning won then turning around and saying that doesn’t count when Brady won.

Patty and Kelce didn’t do anything until Greenlaw got injured. That flipped the game. The middle of the field was wide open after that. Then Patty got gifted a TD from the muffed punt, and the Niners missed an extra point which allowed the Chiefs to send the game into OT. Yes Patty had a great winning drive in OT, but the Niners lost that game more than the Chiefs won it.

Everything you said is true. How many times did Brady benefit from mistakes from his opponents. How about when dee ford lined up offsides? How about when the falcons forgot to run the ball and fumbled it away? How about that crazy lucky catch edelmen had in the seahawks superbowl? Tuck rule game? You can start to say that great players are lucky or you can admit they make their own luck. Many players and teams have had some lucky moments or opponents make mistakes...However, you don't remember this moments unless they win. The great ones find away. Sure it's annoying to watch when it's not your team. But every team needs a break to win. This league is a week to week league.

I think where Mahomes compares to Brady & the greats the most is cashing in on opportunities. Truth is as time passes these historic moments become larger than when we saw them live. We forget more and more of the moments where the losing teams couldn’t cash in and heap more praise on to the winners. For example, the Seahawks IINT on the goal line or the Niners muffed punt recovery. What separates Mahomes is a numbers game, if you give him more opportunities he will eventually cash in. I think that’s what terrifies opposing teams when they don’t score points. You can see that they get tight and lose their identity. They abandon what worked all season and the pressure causes them to eventually make mistakes.
If Tom Brady had signed with San Francisco this past off season, and we had Brady vs Mahomes in that game. Who doesn’t believe Brady would have led the Niners to victory?

The early 2000s Patriots helped usher in some of the rules that made things "easier" for receivers and Brady had his most productive years during the "softer" era you people go on and on about.

Mahomes would have lost 2 out of the 3 playoff games that year if the opposition had scored 34. It took Brady a number of seasons before he evolved to greatness, Mahomes has been great from the start.
As a sad Jets fan who wants someone to finally supplant Brady, I can't give Mahomes the GOAT title yet. He's the best ever. But Mahomes only played less than 30% of Brady's 22 seasons so it's unfair compare them at this moment. If Mahomes can't match Brady's 7 Super Bowl wins, he must make up for it by matching Brady's 5 Super Bowl MVP's and win more regular season MVP's, 4. I think Mahomes already surpassed Brady in the eye test and will eventually beat him in stats.

He managed to win with no Future 1st ballot HOF on the roster (Kelce and Hill). He did all that playing for a defensive HC. No he won’t. Since you’re not very good at math let me break it down for you. In order for Mahomes to surpass Tom he would need to average 5,000 yards per season for the next 12 years. He would also need to average 40 tds for the next 10.75 seasons. He would need to average 450 completions for the next 13.5 years and would need to win at least 5 more superbowls. This is all highly unlikely. We forget how astronomical Brady’s numbers are and how he plays at a high level into his 40’s. Pats numbers are already going down.
