  • This is the standard Easton Glacier Climb/Ski Descent off Mt Baker. Other than the ski descents off Mt Rainier, Mt Baker has the the longest single ski descent in the US not skiing below a standard trailhead. As we did it, this route was more than 20 miles round trip, 8000+ vertical feet, 2.5 miles (one-way) on snow covered road to reach the trailhead, an overnight at upper Sandy Camp. From the toe of the Easton Glacier to the summit is 3.6 miles one-way and 5648 vertical feet at an average slope of 24 degrees. The only steep section is the Roman Wall with more than 700 vertical feet at a sustained 31+ degree slope. The tour was 11-12 May 2023 and there were no problems with any snow bridges over the creeks (check local Snotel sites for SWE these days for reference).
