- The Golden Boy is an award given to the best young player in Europe that year. Sometimes the Golden Boy winners live up to the hype and become football greats, but other times, things go horribly wrong and they never fulfill their talent, so we’re going to find out what happened to football's 21 Golden Boy winners since the award was created..
If you enjoyed this video, I'd really appreciate if you would subscribe!! I'm trying to hit 100k this year ;) - Sport
Besides Messi, Who lived up to the hype the most? for me its Mbappe
ronny.
Aguero
Me also mbappe

If you want to ruin your career, sign for Man Utd
This is the football transfer rule
Rooney might disagree with you
You mean Real Madrid or FCB
For me MU is Alex FC, other than him they did nothing in this century. Sad for a mighty club like that.
@@NdumiesoWhere is Rooney Now?😂😂😂
Even if Van der Vaart didn’t become a constant World Class Player I still think you did him a bit wrong here, as he managed to get 109 caps (25 goals) for the dutch national team and is found to be a legend at the HSV in Germany… also he got nominated for the Ballon d‘Or in 2008, managed to play for Real Madrid and had some pretty successful years at Tottenham too. So he might not have become an all time great but he was one of the best COMs in the world for a couple of years still
Couldn't agree more, it feels like if you become a messi or Ronaldo they somehow had bad careers but he had a great compared to most especially considering he won trophies (obviously not at Spurs) so yeah done completely dirty.
RVV was a great player period.
Yeah was thinking the same thing van der vaart was a really great player, maybe the video says he didn't fulfil his golden boy status to get more comments and reactions, which is what we're doing right now
The spurs part got me lol
Nah
Messi is basically the most successful Golden Boy winner ever. While we're still waiting to see more of Haaland, Gavi, Pedri, Mbappe(even though he's won a world cup) & Bellingham
yeah Messi cant really be compared to anyone on the list. hes in a class of his own
I expect Lamine Yamal to win the next one

But Trust me when Wirtz will go to Real for over 100 Million you will see why he is the best. Wait for the EM Musiala and wirtz midfield for Germany and say no more.
How is it that Mourinho had to deal with both Balotelli AND Pogba 😂

Isco was a baller. Always felt gutted he didn't sign for Barça, who was a better fit for him imo.
He surely doesn't regret going to Madrid since he won literally everything multiple times.

Great vídeo. 17:50 was crazy, Iniesta reference turning into Gavi's part was smooth well done.
Ps- As a Benfica fan I really feel like both Sanches and Félix could've already accomplished much more.
Such talented Portuguese players. They haven’t had bad careers but man I feel they could’ve done sm more
@@TopBinsFootyy honestly I find that Felix has gained form with Barca unlike what we saw with Chelsea he's has been inconsistent but on his day he does madness like vs athleti both games vs Cadiz vs Las Palmas and ofc in the beginning of the season and thing is he's not been playing much recently which I think is temporary so idk id say Felix is heading in the right direction
Anderson was almost literally picked from the streets becuase of his talent and put immediately in the first team, so it was not really fair to him. He should have been trained before he got into the first team.
What a baller but what a shame
Not true, he was very promising for Porto until he broke his leg then he was never the same again.
It's a shame that there are so many misfits in this list and yet was never given to players like Cristiano, Neymar, Suarez, James Rodriguez, Bale, Vinicius Jr or Rodrygo despite being young and having more successful season

Anderson one is kinda unreal, it just shows how good of a coach Sir Alex was
Anderson made some amazing things in Porto. He was a kid back then. And i'm from Sporting.
Anderson had raw talent. He lost his acceleration when his knee was injured, and after that he was never the same player. Anderson, if luckier with injuries, would be mentioned with the likes of Rooney at United, because his natural abilities were that good.
@@razhmazh true
Injuries ruined Anderson
Kostas Katsouranis ended Anderson's career when he broke his leg. I'm a Benfica supporter and I loved Katsouranis, but had it not been for that wreckless tackle and Anderson might've gone down as one of the best players in history.
Calling the 2014 WC winner the most important goal in German history is such a stretch considering that Germany won 4 world cups anyway and espicially considering the importance of the '54 World Cup for early Post-War Germany.
"he didn't fulfill his golden boy expectation" while talking about the netherlands legend Van der Vaart. You cannot just look at his club performance. In Netherlands national team, he was a menace, and performed incredibly over the peak of his carrer.

Small mistake but the most UCLs was won by Francisco Gento who won six.
My bad brother. Thanks for pointing it out
@@TopBinsFootyy Gento won most European club cup, youre not wrong
@@duylongnguyen7154 European cup was the old name for the Champions League. Saying he has won six UCL's is like saying Real have only won 8 UCLs, which is just not true.
It was a very different format. The old EC, esp. back in the 50s and 60s had much fewer real contenders.
I'd say the UCL qualifies as the top European competition like the EC was, but the EC is not the CL.
VdV was not a flop for being second pick to Kaka. He was a star. He belongs in the middle class in this list unlike Anderson or Balo, or even Pogba who are players with technical and physical potential but poor mentality.
It’s actually crazy to think that Ronaldo wasn’t a real great player in his early stages
he took his time to get going but then he aged like a fine wine.
he was 2nd in voting when rooney won it, not like he was unheard of
he didn't win it but he was 3rd in 2003 and 2nd in 2004, so it wasn't like he was an unknown player
cr7 was definitely a shock player like Vini with Madrid in 2022 we just never expected that from him but he as still a great talent at sporting and at united being more of a dribbler than goalscorer which is why I find that dribbling youngsters like Leo, Vini, cr7,neymar etc. usually turn out the best and that's what players like yamal or doku can be they might not finish well but they have a higher ceiling in my opinion
Nice editing🔥🔥🔥
🥶
When Kaka was at Madrid, CR7 and Messi were above him as footballers.
He was injured tho
i still dont believe that how ronaldo never won the golden boy
Because Ronaldo didn't peak at the start. Ronaldo peaked in Madrid.

Imagine Gotze remaining in Dortmund, Balotelli listening to coaches, Aguero not getting arythmia, Pogba staying in Juventus, Pato not being so injury prone. They all had the talent to be among the all time bests. Aguero is a legend, but he could be even greater.
Mbappe and Messi definitely lived up to the promise. But Halaand, Pedri, Gavi, Jude, cannot be discounted yet.

The 2005 winner looks like he has decent potential
Maybe he’ll win a cup
gotze , haaland, bellingham , dortmund conenction!!
Totally unfair to say that Götze didn’t fulfilled his potential. FYI his career was seriously jeopardized by autoimmune disease. He did a long break before returning to PSV and later to Eintracht.
I mean, he didnt really fulfill his potential tho
Well, he was a key man in Dortmund, winning everything there. He played a good role in Bayern and scored the winning goal in the World Cup final. He had a tough time being sick and was far away from football. I think that, perception-wise, US or North American fans will probably have trouble understanding that Dortmund is a football institution. Btw he was brought by Eintracht to play Champions League for them as a starting player after they have won Europa League. To say that he hasn't fulfilled his potential is wrong. He did a lot; he has won everything.
And nowadays still playing here in Frankfurt for Eintracht which is a good and solid club and strong club. Many guys form this list went from hero to zero.
Btw being a golden boy doesn't mean anything, it just puts a lot of pressure, and if you observe legends of the sport, many of them were top talents but became really top and world-class players after turning 24 or so like Modric, Xavi, Pirlo, De Bruyne.
"It is only Spurs" :( it broke my heart
