She also talks about her debut novel, her relationship with her late mother, and the influence of her mother's experiences as a black woman during the Civil Rights Movement.
Freedom of speech is such an indispensable part of our free and democratic way of life that we can sometimes be in danger of taking it for granted. Attacks like this, tragic and inexcusable as they are, should remind us all of how rare and precious this right is, and how many have suffered to maintain it.
I'm happy he is OK. I was angry he was attacked. Losing a parent is very hard. Will check out the novel!👍

Why can't the extreme Muslim's who carry out these atrocities in the name of Allah, let Allah defend himself? Or are they just self-righteous self-serving gits who expect Allah to give them a pat on the head. Freedom of speech is essential for a civilised society, otherwise it is tyranny. True religion, more than anything else, must permit people to chose their faith with absolute freedom of conscience. The instance a religion is imposed, or violently defended, then it no longer is true religion. The one Being who would have freedom of speech more than any other is Almighty God, as He would have people say to Him, 'I love You,' in perfect freedom. otherwise such a sentiment cannot be in truth.
