Dear Mr. Rushdie, I am a great admirer of your literary work that so elegantly and masterfully blends real magic with history to create a gem that stands alone. Upon reading Midnight Children, I was literally drunk for three days... I am happy to know that you are mostly recovered from your injuries. I would have liked to witness that the assassin was appropriately punished for committing such a grave crime. Thanks for all your brilliant oeuvre.

Such grit at the face of violence and extremism. Salman isn’t a mere survivor at the hands of an extremist force but a torch bearer to free speech, a liberal voice and free thinking force. More power to him. We need more of such men to live and thrive to remind us about not giving up and keeping at it come what may.

But she probably did; I was probably wrong about that too; and anyway, what other word is there? When there’s that gratitude in you for life’s dumb luck, when there’s nobody to thank and you need to thank somebody, what do you say? God, Vina said. its like music. what he discribes about the word is, to me a note, that carries to the next note, then music is there,it is singing. the player, the performer is a mediator, then the note tells the mind. its mine. may i take his words like that? to me,the true writer is a musician as well! great, great man he is,a true artist!!! lucky to have him in our generation!

"the audience is sweet and liberal and progressive and you'd never expect any attack there"........uhhh, yah, sorry but that's the kind of setting an Islamic extremist would be more likely to get into with no questions asked. If anybody did have a suspicion based on something they saw/heard/knew about the person, they wouldn't say anything, out of PC-ness.

Please go back to history as the zone of arabia peninsula extends up to Syria.I do respect this man because no muslim scholar was able to debate him academically and refute his arguments. It's a terrible pity !! Instead of challenging him through academic debate, most muslims attack him and he is totally wrong on the issue of 'satanic verses" as the text of the Koran stands divine in the cognitive structure it conveys.Thanks.

Belle interview!
