Problem is Hatos-Hall doesn't have the rights to this era since it was produced by Dick Clark Productions. GSN had the same problem when they were airing lmad reruns.
Along with the ratings not being too great for this revival, I also recall the show was said to be expensive to produce from the Disney Studios. Dick Clark's company produced the show this time, instead of Monty himself, so there was less tolerance for keeping a high cost show in production. When Disney kept increasing the cost of using their facility, Dick Clark said no way. Disney took no time at all to destroy the set which had been created. Rather then re-build or try to re-group at NBC Studios in Burbank, Dick Clark Productions said "forget about the whole thing".
Monty himself said that a big issue was the staging itself and getting the prizes in and out behind the doors. You can see there is there is NO ROOM - a boat or car would be up against a wall. Other studios and, yes, The Price is Right, have a huge amount of room behind their doors. Apparently, they had to take extra downtime between acts to move prizes around, and it would be rather exhausting to keep an audience attentive. For instance, the entry to backstage would be on the side of Door 1 instead of behind the doors. Well, if that was true, you'd have to slide a car across to behind door 3, then a furniture grouping behind 2, and appliances behind 1 for the Big Deal alone! Monty was not thrilled to have to host this version.
For 2 Weeks in 1990, There wasn't a American hosting a Game Show on NBC, Gordon Elliott (From Australia) hosting To Tell The Truth, Alex Trebek (From Ontario, Canada) hosting Classic Concentration and Monty Hall (From Manitoba, Canada) hosting Let's Make A Deal.
Talk about the "new generation" creating "ground breaking television". In 1990, NBC had revivals of Let's Make A Deal, To Tell The Truth, and Concentration. None of their new stuff worked. LOL The more things change, the more they stay the same. It took an 80 year old Kitty Carlisle and an 80-something Monty Hall to fill NBC's daytime lineup.
That because Network Daytime Game Shows were on the decline at that time - Court & Talk shows were replacing game shows (today only 2 hours a game shows weekdays - both on CBS, both ABC & NBC have crap)
Monty was suppose to guest host but for some reason Bob Hilton didn't bother returning so Monty Hall hosted the rest of the series until it got canceled.
cutemimi25 Bob Hilton was basically "let go". The ratings weren't that great, and Bob Hilton, while he tried, didn't seem to "get" the show. Monty had a persona of "the used car salesman", someone that you couldn't entirely trust.Bob basically went through the motions... it felt like he was "substituting" for Monty instead of making the show his own. If you can't already tell, Monty DID NOT want to step in and take over. He had hoped to find someone that could carry the show. Wayne Brady has certainly made LMAD his own show, and my only criticism of his version is WAY TOO HEAVY on the suspenseful music cues. I GET that it's a party, but we don't need music playing throughout most of the show!
@@matthewkaiser76 Monty had been wanting to retire in the midst of the mid-80s era (the all-new lets make a deal) hence why Geoff Edwards and announcer Dean Goss got to sub during the run.
@@matthewkaiser76 You know who I think would've been the perfect host for this show? Jim Perry. His energy and hosting style from Sale of the Century always reminded me of Hall in a way and I think that would've been perfect for this show to.
Monty should of gotten dean goss to come back and do the show at this point the show was not doing good in the ratings and only had 3 months left and 2nd of all why do the show from Disney knowing they are going to charge a arm and a leg for using there studios should of did the show from Burbank ca.
I haven't heard about it hopefully some network in Australia will pick it up most probably channel 9 I'm not sure i loved Wayne Brady I. Whose line is it anyways the older ones the new ones are ok not like they were when he was working with drew Carey and Ryan and Colin they worked really well I'm from Australia
I'm looking up where else LMAD has aired, and it looks like the last time it aired in Australia was around 1990-1991. According to information I found, it aired on Network Ten, and the host was Vince Sorrenti. I always seem to be curious about versions of certain shows in other countries. I wonder if any of those episodes have been posted anywhere.
I was on lets make a deal in 1990 in Orlando dressed as Donald Trump. I would really love to get a copy of that episode. Does anyone know how to get past episodes?
Marc, funny you mentioned Donald Trump. He had a first-run syndicated game show with his last name in the title, "Trump Card" which did not air here in my city as well this version of "Let's Make A Deal".
R.I.P. Monty Hall (1921-2017) :'(
*cues Zonk fanfare sound effect*
You will be Missed Monty Hall.
Didn't even know this existed. Too bad it didn't last long. Monty was great as always. RIP.
They need to aired this version of LMAD 1990 On buzzr
I doubt it
Yes they do need to air this version on buzzer

Not to say, the firing of its previous host Bob Hilton.
So this is why Fremantle, the company that made this game show completely ignores this short lived 1990 revival.

That moment with 3 ladies was impressive, $1,500 for 1 person the others gave up the Zonk and got $2,000.
I remembered this game show!!!
2014 now I watch Wayne Brady every chance I do not have to work ....revive the show now I search the original Monty Hall shows ............
I first only knew Monty Hall form Split Second... but I can honestly say, LET'S MAKE A DEAL is where its at

Jessy Leppert Do you have any of these episodes
The 1990 version guest hosted by Monty Hall is a good deal.
He should have hosted it. Not Bob Hilton.
@@actownsend7288 vvv
Well Hall was only supposed to be the guest host for two weeks but Hilton wasn't up to it to return
@@jessyleppert2 NBC didn't want him to return.
Probably the worst daytime version, but had the best theme music. I wish there was a clean copy of it somewhere.

+snowden67 : NBC Revived CONCENTRATION in 1987 and was an instant hit. It stayed on until 1991.
+Abel E. Jimenez Yeah they revived Concentration & called it Classic Concentration from 1987-1991 & was been rerun until 1993.
Monty was 69 when he did this in 1990.

All the old 1990 commercial's are neat to look at again !!

The issue of TV Week from that week had an article that tead "Monty re-hosts as Hilton unhosts"
Do you have more of those
He returned again to the show on the 3/1/2013 episode in the 50th anniversary of LMAD/
According to Wayne Brady, the current CBS version of Lets Make a Deal airs in Australia. Is that true?
Pacific Data Image does the show's opening sequence.

Good deal
The 70s LMAD was a lot better with better gifts with more money. Remember the value of 8k in the 70s compared to 1990s money!!
INFLATION + LOUSY PRIZE BUDGET is to blame !
The 1984-86 version was the best one by far.
jim overhead door
whats behind door number one
luck of the irish
Bob Barker is cool, but Monty is waaaayyyyy cooler.
You mean Hilton
