    This song is SO good. You should check out Skindred “Rat Race” for reggae mixed with metal-fronted by a black man who is phenomenally talented and one of the best performers I’ve seen.

    OMGGGGG that metal & rap mix is so powerful ! I love to see that mentalitties changed, I remember the dualities between music styles, and to see that kind of masterpiece matching these styles so perfectly is amazing !!
    The voice of the rapper is incredible, what a talent !
    Wooow big Dave Face Approvals, I see haha !! I understand why your face hurts then 😂

    I know I’m a bit late, but this was filmed in Austin tx. They are not paid actors, I know one of the dudes that pops up with a sign. The hype was real.

    You are funny bro, there are plenty of trailblazers from Punk to Metal. For example BAD BRAINS, PURE HELL, DEATH and newer artists like The Objex, Sevendust, Straight Line Stitch, Body Count, Backwordz .......etc just to name a few. Good reaction and thank you.

  • @DarkKnightofHeaven
    @DarkKnightofHeaven Před 3 lety

    The guy on killswitch engage is Howard Jones. he actually left the band due to mental health issues and started up his own band called Light the Torch, which is fantastic.
    Other African American guys in metal include Lajon Witherspoon with Sevendust, Rasheed Thomas the rhythm guitarist for Nonpoint, Skindred's Benji Webbe is a Jamaican immigrant to Britain who does 'Reggae Punk' as they call it, and Hyro the Hero is a pure rapper who raps to a heavy metal/Hard Rock sound. I'd be able to recommend songs from all of these groups on request.
    Edit: P.O.D. is who I was forgetting and they're fantastic, with Traa Daniels at Bass Guitar.

  • @LordRae
    @LordRae Před 3 lety +1

    Fire from the Gods is great. You should also check out Hyro The Hero if you liked this. He's got a bunch of great tracks and aside from some light radio play is mostly underground.

  • @RyanCogar
    @RyanCogar Před 3 lety +1

    Their last 2 records have plenty of bangers, some are more on the heavier/rock side & some lean more towards the rap/electronic vibes. 1 track in particular "They Don't Like it" (features guest vocals with Sonny Sandoval of the band P.O.D) heavily utilizes that reggae-ish vocal quality that he brings in the middle section of this track a little.

    2:30 but Howard Jones left the band, and that whitey, Jessie Leech, came back. (and after that, i stopped listening to the band altogether.)
    but also, there's this one old band (whom i think broke up), which also had a black leader singer. this band called "God Forbid".
