  • Welcome to Steve 3D, your Indie development and game art channel! In this beginner's tutorial, we'll dive into the fascinating world of texture painting. Join me as I demonstrate easy shapes and introduce basic rules for beginners to get started. Although the model may not look perfect, our focus is on showcasing the entire workflow. Remember, the more time you invest, the better your end result will be. By following along with this video, even a beginner can paint this texture in just a few hours.
To begin, let's open the table model we created earlier in this season of tutorial videos. If you need assistance applying textures to your model, refer back to our previous video where we covered setting up everything for painting. Now click on "Texture Paint" at the top.
With our table ready for painting, let's start by creating a color palette like the one shown here on the right side of your screen. This palette allows us to easily switch between colors as needed. We'll begin with a midtone brown for the base color of our table.
Before diving into painting, it's important to turn off lighting effects so that we can view our table without any distractions. To achieve this flat rendering style, simply click on "Viewport Shading" at the top right and select "Flat."
To ensure symmetry while painting, enable Z-axis mirroring so that every stroke is mirrored onto both sides of the countertop.
Now it's time to add some color variations and depth to make our table come alive! Take your time with this step or feel free to speed up the video if needed.
Once satisfied with these initial passes of coloring and shading techniques applied thus far; let’s move forward by adding planks using freehand strokes for natural variation.
For added realism and detail practice; create cracks along edges or wherever desired throughout tabletop surface area.
Let’s also apply some color variation around all sides of our table. This will enhance the overall appearance and make it more visually appealing.
Now, let's refine those planks! Test different colors to find the perfect match and add knots where branches once grew outward. These details will give a realistic impression of wood grains flowing naturally.
Depending on resolution and viewing distance, consider adding additional details for a more polished look. Remember, practice makes perfect!
Join me in this exciting texture painting journey as we bring our table to life with stunning realism. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more amazing tutorials! #TexturePainting #GameArt
