I love to hear the Buddist chants. At my church once, we had a group of Buddist monks come as guests and they chanted. It was one of the most moving and beautiful experiences I ever had.
I never said I was the person with the truth, that's your statement. Ending wickedness in this world and bringing us to an everlasting utopia is not my job. What I've done is work toward ending wickedness within myself and developing myself into a loving, kind, compassionate, happy, peaceful person. It starts with me, changing me from within. It was the Mantra of the Lotus Sutra from Tinas film, and he took me to a group of people in which all of them chanted the Lotus Sutra. It's important to let people be themselves. I know being a practicing Nichiren Buddhist has helped my life and I wouldn't force it on anyone else. To say that she needs to come back to Jesus is actually slandering the teachings of Jesus which says Love thy Neighbor, and turn the other cheek. So many so called disciples of various faiths really miss the message behind their mentors teachings.

I found chanting brings the material things but I am not attached to them like I used to be. Chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo more importantly brings courage, peace of mind and intent. Its like the material things come so that you are more able to practise your spirituality. Its simply a means to an end.

Have you ever try to practice Buddhardharma a little bit to see whether ii dangerous or not ? Do not feel fear to test it , because nobody require you to take a vow to be loyal to Buddha , and when you give it up , nobody or no sutras threaten you that you will be punished in hell .
I was in an abusive 10 yr marriage. And its hard to get out of it. We are survivors !!! Thru Spiritual Enlightenment ....we can repair our soul and become who we really are. When we place our focus on positive inspiration many good things happen
So true...I used to be just like that...I'm glad I renounced Christianity...it seems to bring out the most base instincts in many of it's adherents, mainly violence & hatred toward anyone who don't have the same beliefs. One thing I never even considered while I was neck-deep in the muck of this religion is why would a loving god allow his only begotten son to die such an excruciating death? HE'S GOD. How can you hope to get to know God or anyone for that matter without asking questions and seeking. Man (namely religious officials) told us not to question. God welcomes inquiry. You can't get answers if you never ask the question.

The other chanting she does is a partial chapter of the Lotus Sutra. We chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, and parts of the second and 16th chapter as our daily practice two times a day.

I know your comment is from 7 years ago, and I have no idea if you'll see this, but I believe the chant roughly translates from Sanskrit that the practitioner declaring their devotion to the principles of the Lotus Sutra.
Bernice Feagins buddhists do not depend on another being to feel good. We work and polish ourselves from the inside with lots of prayer and dedication (twice daily), it's like a buffering of the soul and the mind. Then you progress, start seeing life differently and learn to love yourself more, let go of problems. It really is an amazing practice.

So true...I used to be just like that...I'm glad I renounced Christianity...it seems to bring out the most base instincts in many of it's adherents, mainly violence & hatred toward anyone who don't have the same beliefs. One thing I never even considered while I was neck-deep in the muck of this religion is why would a loving god allow his only begotten son to die such an excruciating death? HE'S GOD. Surely, he could have found a more humane way of figuring this whole redemption thing out.

It was the Lord that said, "Come now, let us reason together...". How can you reason without opening your mind, and asking questions? How can you hope to get to know God or anyone for that matter without asking questions and seeking. Man (namely religious officials) told us not to question. God welcomes inquiry. You can't get answers if you never ask the question.
I am very proud of Tina Turner for finding her way. She chose the right way for herself. She is life life filled vibrant soul! Let's take out time to speak positivly about others. Keep judgmental condemnations to yourselves and if you really practice what you preach take it to God peacefully in prayer as a christian! She is a great black, female, overcomer example!

The other chanting she does is a partial chapter of the Lotus Sutra. We chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, and parts of the second and 16th chapter as our daily practice two times a day.

Bernice Feagins buddhists do not depend on another being to feel good. We work and polish ourselves from the inside with lots of prayer and dedication (twice daily), it's like a buffering of the soul and the mind. Then you progress, start seeing life differently and learn to love yourself more, let go of problems. It really is an amazing practice.
