  • Tina Turner was destined for superstardom. Access Hollywood sat down with the late music icon in 1997 for an in-depth discussion about her life and legacy, and she discussed launching her solo career after leaving ex-husband Ike Turner and how she never wavered in her goals even during her lowest points. "I knew I would work again. I must say, I just wanted to be as big as, let's say, the superstars that's filling the stadiums and et cetera, and I had kind of put it on hold because I was trying to actually take care of my life," she said. "And then, when I decided to go back to work, that was the focus. I want to play stadiums. I want to fill stadiums. I never doubted myself because I've been performing long enough to know that I'm good at that. That's all I've ever done."

As a woman, I am SO proud of her. She knew how to give her audiences what they wanted. A time when the industry was filled with men, she worked twice as hard as many of them. What a great attitude, she waited her turn so to speak. She knew how to change with the times. Such talent, grace, class, a real lady.

She had such class and grace when expressing her dislike of certain questions and people behaviours. Such an inspiration! I love her and hope she RIP. Thankful for everything she shared, I learnt a lot. But her ending is much more because it has taught me;everyone has a past, work very hard and everything will fall into place❤

I absolutely love Tina. It's annoying that this interviewer didn't get it when she said that she was over Ike and the interviewer kept bringing him back into her interview.

The main reasons she looked so good is because she never indulged in smoking, drinking, drugs & gluttony. She also said she maintained a pattern of proper rest. Having a healthy relationship with a much younger man helped too, I'm sure.

I’ve seen a ton of her interviews, and never seen this one. 1997 was when my 7 year old self was introduced to Tina - have been a fan since listening to We Don’t Need Another Hero last night in 2023. She’s an incredible fighter, and a role model. Love her 🫶🏾

What I see is peace in the ultimate form…she had this way of not holding on to pain & hurt…pushing past negativity and just loving the beauty of life…this is all anyone could ask for. Rip Queen ❤️

This magnificent, massively talented, highly intelligent woman and music icon was always so gracious in interviews. How many times she's been asked the same predictable questions by journalists. But she responds with with truth and integrity - and always a warm smile on her face.

It always annoyed me when interviewers brought up her first marriage. Knowing what a horrible experience it was, if I was an interviewer, I would not mention it.

She was pure talent, beauty and class. What a total knockout. And even when having to deal with interviewers like this. This woman keeps trying to get the "story" and Tina is so gracious.
