You should put this on the Linux CNC forum. Thanks for putting this out!

    Nice work Eric.
Is this a cape which plugs straight onto the 7i73?

Hey! Love your channel. It's a custom PCB that the 7i73 plugs directly into along with the display and the keyboard PCB. It also has integrated pull up/down resistors with jumpers to select what you want for each input and screw terminals for the I/O to make things easier. Most of the programming is done with classic ladder. Here's a picture of one actually put together: imgur.com/3bu8Oaj
I should probably do a better video at some point. If you're working on a pendant and want a set of the PCBs let me know. I have extra. Can also share the CAD for the housing and my HAL/classic ladder code.

      @@Eric-vq9nq Hi Eric, thanks.
I really like your design work there. You must be a master of classic ladder. I am still taking baby steps with that.
I am currently designing a sort of pendant for my Schaublin lathe. It will mount on the rail on the front of the base, which the swarf cover runs on. I already have a 7i73, and will be integrating two jog wheels, and a few buttons, and no display, so your integrated solution is not really applicable to this build, but I appreciate your offer on the PCB.
      Cheers,
      Mark

@@RotarySMP That sounds similar to what I did with my little lathe. I was trying to somewhat replicate our Trak toolroom lathe controls at work. It has independent X/Y jog wheels and an analog joystick. I still used the same board as I did for the pendant as it makes everything easier to wire with the screw terminals. Here are some more pictures including of the back of the pendant so you can see more of how it's set up:

I tried to make it non-specific to the pendant so I could use it in more than just that one way.
Definitely not an expert on classic ladder. But it's not terribly difficult after you figure out what the logic components do. If you don't have any experience with ladder logic there are a ton of good videos out there and almost all of it applies to classic ladder.
I should probably make a video on classic ladder specifically as there isn't a whole lot out there. Definitely let me know if you get stuck on anything. Happy to help.
