Now I love a doner kebab - what better way to soak up the excesses of a Friday night. But what GDK are offering just doesn't cut it.

Looks like a nice place and your food looked fresh. The bread looked rather nice. I have never had a donner kebab though because my son would go out drinking with his friends then they would order kebabs and then save half of it in the oven. I would have the joy of cleaning the bathroom afterwards. What put me off was a take away place in my town and the kebab was in its burner during the day whilst the takeaway was closed and bluebottles were laying eggs on it. Iceland used to do a pack of Donner meat. The strips were all the same size and looked like Amazon packaging but with the fragrance of marmite. My son loved them but they had the texture of those strips you buy to give your dog a treat. Anyway see you on the next one. 👍

This "kebab shop" gives us Germans a bad name. Here in Germany, I'm not aware of any large kebab chain. Most restaurants are small family businesses. I would recommend anyone who thinks this "restaurant" is "German" to go to a real kebab shop in Germany. We don't eat the kebab as dry as it is apparently served there. We usually have a garlic sauce or yoghurt sauce on top. Depending on the restaurant, there might also be other sauces.

I think that sums it up, but not only was it tasteless, it also lacks authenticity, so I have to wonder about these places; I mean, they can be either good quality but have a spin on things so as not to be authentic, or be truly authentic and do their best. But when places lack quality and authenticity, why do they even bother?

The Doner kebabs hey sell in Turkey is usually in the regular bread, which is a small olad, similar to the bread yor are eating your kebab in. As a meal it seems incredibly expensive seeing that it is fast food. No knives, no plates, no cups to pour you drink in.
Did you see Gary Eats review of this place. It was served luke warm and he didn't rate it at all/
I don't think I will try them out. Haven't h\d \ kebab in a long time, well in the UK anyway.

Agreed, price a little on the high side, but I wouldn’t have minded paying that if the quality was decent. Can’t grumble about the fries and sauces, they were good, but the supposed star of the show a real letdown.

Well actually the kebab meal only comes with 1 sauce, I only got 2 sauces as I also ordered the spring rolls. Fact is, bearing in mind I speak German, have German friends and have been to the country frequently ....... German cuisine absolutely sucks .... the only thing they can cook is a sausage, nice with their well known curry sauce with pommes frites .... so effectively, it's all Death by Sausage - whenever I was there we always went for a Greek or Chinese .... my German friends wouldn't inflict their cuisine on me.

Interesting, maybe the kebabs they had in Glasgow growing up weren’t great, and they used that as a frame of reference!

Almost every reviewer that I’ve seen that has done the German Donna have all said how bad it is, I’ve commented more than once the Germans need to stop making them and go to what there good at, sausages, particularly bratwurst, kielbasa and other German sausage and leave the kebabs to the Greeks, I’m surprised you didn’t have the same opinion as Gary and many other reviews and just absolutely slate it for being so bad

I think it’s fair to point out the good as well as the bad. The fries and sauces were actually really tasty. But it’s not the German Fries and Sauce - the kebab should be better.

Greeno stop stealing Gary Eats reviews, i thought you were his friend 😡

Not sure I am stealing reviews from Gary or anyone else. Of course, there are certain venues or chains many CZcamsrs will visit. But each will have their own thoughts and perspectives.
