The Crow (1994) is one of the few movies I can remember seeing on opening day in a theatre. The soundtrack is still on my iPhone.
The soundtrack was impressive! The movie...eh. First half is good, but by the ending it got pretty goofy.
The best❤️🔥
The soundtrack is itself one of the greatest albums of all time
@theogonia1983 yes it is and I have both movie and soundtrack on my phone. That's what happens when You dedicate an album to be a soundtrack for the movie!❤️🔥
As it should be. 😈
I saw The Crow on opening night.
Yeah, I'm old.
Thank you for supporting the original.
I'm there with you brother.
I am “old“ too and so whaaat 🤪.
Only as old as you feel bro! Dial in your diet and gym game and you'd be surprised what happens!
@@rochskier The dumb "entertainment" is what tires me.
Especially when it was done better decades ago.
same, and same.
It cant rain all the time Jay...
Good line, great song.
There was a beautiful old theater closing down in my city. The last film they were showing was The Crow and I went with my brother.
I will never forget in 1993 where I was, driving with my mom when it came across the radio that Brandon Lee died.
1994 the movie was released. 1993 Brandon died during production.
@@MiladyMetalhead Yup
Happy 30th anniversary to The Crow 1994
Friday may 13 1994 I was there for the first showing in my theater and it literally changed my life. Rest in peace Brandon Lee.
What a night that must have been! Are you going for the anniversary screening?
@@P.Roach85 was awesome!
I think the theaters would make more money by replaying great movies like this instead of the new garbage that keeps getting pumped out.
Totally. I wonder if this will become a thing.
Those 30 years fly by so fast, Brandon Lee's best performance, hands down
Indeed
I said the same thing in a conversation yesterday. Put out Star Wars, Alien, T2, etc....on the big screen, and I'll buy a ticket.
Checkout flashback cinema. They do replay classics in theaters. Been doing it for years.
As someone that saw The Crow in theaters, I am GLAD a whole new generation will get to see this on the big screen. The transformation sequence is one of the best directed and edited 60+ seconds of film ever. However, I am SAD it will not be playing in AMC theaters, the largest theater chain in America. I'm also SAD that Cinemark will not be showing the film in XD.
Definitely worth checking out for hardcore fans.
AMC can go screw themselves. Thank God I have a Cinemark near me.
I felt how emotional you were becoming after saying that the original Crow changed your life. The Crow was released three years after I was born, but I didn't discover it until much later in life. It changed my life, too. I can't wait to see it in theaters.
I saw it in the theater when it 1st came out, not because it was the crow, but because I saw everything with Brandon Lee in it. I lost my shit when I found out he died during the making of it. I loved the movie but mourned the loss. R.I.P. gone but not forgotten.
And that soundtrack will always be the greatest ever!!!
I have to see if it's in my city.
Nope.
It's tied with Judgement Night.
The Violent Femmes "Color Me Once" is the unsung heroes of that soundtrack.
@@woodrowgodshyne1654 snarkyjay is too fine
This must be only in America, which is disappointing. I remember seeing this in the cinema when it first came out. Beautifully haunting and fitting tribute to Brandon's final performance.
yeah I wish they would do this also in europe Q_Q
UK'er here and I've got tickets for it on June 4th at Vue 😊
Old man here, who was around when the original was released. I was in my mid-20s in 1994 and so wanted to have that Brandon Lee hair and look. Never quite pulled it off. But to this day, it is in my top 3 movies along with Escape from NY and the twisted (in the best way) original Willy Wonka. I still have a Brandon Lee (Crow) action figure on my home office shelf. YOUNG PEOPLE...GO SEE THIS if it is rereleased near you.
The Crow is one of my favorite movies. WOW 30 years!!!! That is crazy, time has flown by!!! I first saw it at the drive in. It was the perfect night for it. There was a lightning and thundet storm that night, so it added alot to the experience for sure. Now fast forward The Crow is my daughter's favorite movie and she listen's to my old CD sound track all the time. For sure we will go see it in the theater again!!! My boy's really like the movie as well!!! Rock on Snarky!!!!🤘🤘🤘
I saw this movie when I was seventeen. I just finished high school and it was the night before I left for boot camp. I just bought my tickets for the re-release. Thank you for letting us know about it and for keeping the fandom alive
The original is a amazing classic, I forgot the “reboot “ was still a thing lol
LOl same I forgot about the reboot too!
Wish I could forget
Amazing classic? Let's not get carried away, it was a decent movie at best.
@@inputfunny no one cares for your trash taste
cheers to your bad memory
only the crow can stop the crow. poetic.
I think it's awesome that they're re-releasing it in theaters. My best friend and I were there for the first showing in '94. He even named his car (a 1984 Honda Civic hatchback that was primer black)"The Crow" after we saw it.😎👍🎸🎶🎵
I was 23 when I saw The Crow in 1994 and it’s still one of the handful of movies that I’ll continue to watch multiple times.
The Crow is the single greatest love story ever told. My original copy of the graphic novel is so well-read that it has packing tape holding the spine together, and I had to buy a new copy just so I could keep reading it. I have owned several copies of the original movie, mainly because I kept wearing out the VHS tapes from watching them too much. I didn't know there was anyone on this planet who loves The Crow as much as I do, but it seems like you might be that person. Respect.
To this day, it has been the only movie out of hundreds I've watched in the theatre, where the entire audience didn't get out of their seats at the end, but kept waiting until long after the lights came back up, and then uttered a long, collective sigh in unison before leaving. Absolute amazing experience, I will never forget.
They just released a Re-Master of the original in beautiful 4K, looks amazing!
I was a kid when The Crow came out. My grandma took my sister a couple of friends and I to the movies, asked what we wanted to see, I said “The Crow!” she said “no, I’m not taking you kids to that”, and we ended up seeing The Flintstones.
The Flintstones was so bad, my grandma argued with the theater manager for a refund (even though we saw the whole movie) she did get her money back. I remember looking at my grandma and saying “told you we should’ve seen The Crow” 😂
I have a small indie theatre that runs The Crow once a year either on Halloween or Devil's Night. The best audience reactions, but I'll support this in the mainstream cinema as well just to spite the reboot.
I remember at a Toronto con where I volunteered to help the actors and Ernie Hudson was there and he and I got talk about the Crow and I told him that my film school essay was on the apartment scene with him and Brandon and I told him about it. He said it was one of Brandon’s favourite scenes. I asked why and Ernie said because it will be memorable. I bet there not one person who doesn’t tear up a bit watching that scene. It’s hands down one of the best scenes in the movie or many best scenes.
one of the greatest soundtracks ever.......this movie is still everything....RIP BBL
I was 18 when The Crow was released.....and it made an IMPACT!!
I won three costume competitions dressed as The Crow and one of them was a years supply of movie tickets.......I miss those days.
My daughter and I get to see The Crow (our all time favorite movie )on the big screen once a year at Alamo Drafthouse .We get to meet other fans every year it's like a big party .Love your channel keep up the good work
Much love to the crew that did the first movie.
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. Just got my tickets.
When I saw The Crow for the first time, I was entranced! A brutal, beautiful and hauntingly macabre story of vengeance, heartbreak and the human spirit. Brandon Lee was fantastic in it!
I love your fiery passion for this Jay, keep it going!
The reboot will NEVER get my money...soon as I saw that trailer I rolled my eyes and thought "Great...ANOTHER reboot."
The Crow is only playing in one chain of theaters. It will not be playing in my city of Bismarck, North Dakota.
I heard The Crow on 4k is amazing and much better than the Blu-ray. Unfortunately, I do not have a 4k player.
Btw, The Crow: City of Angels is pretty good. And if you like revenge films, my great-grandpa made a series of 5 films that people seem to like.
Get a PS5
@@joergzabbee3921 I am going to look for 4k players at garage sales this summer.
I haven’t upgraded to 4K either but have a region free player and got the import version which comes with a 1080p blu ray of the new restoration. Looks better than the old blu ray. Only thing is the 1080p is just the film itself, no bonus features. From my understanding however, there’s some new bonus features hosted by Alex McDowell but the rest of the bonus features are ported over from previous releases. So I’m not missing much. I still have the old blu ray.👽
I love hearing your life changing experience after seeing the original Crow.
Already have The Crow 4K UHD steelbook coming next week. Unfortunately most of these limited screenings never show in my area.
Yes !!! Jay is Happy!! And we do want to relive experiencing our favorite films in the theater, again🙏
I wouldn't spend one second of my life watching any Crow movie that doesn't have Brandon Lee in it...
I still remember my two friends and I viewing The Crow the first night if it's theatrical release. The theater vibe was so serious and somber...That is until I screamed out an excited "YES!", when the movie trailer for Highlander: The Sorcerer appeared on the screen. The entire audience of Spencer gifts (showing my age with that reference) Goths turned to look at me. Without skipping a beat I looked around theater and said " Highlander is my shit." With the cheesiest grin on my face. My two friends were so embarrassed. I told them " That's Connor Macleod up on that muthafuka". The audience laughed. The main movie began and ended. I peeped dudes and girls crying. And we left the theater en route to score ourselves the movie soundtrack and score. Damn, that was an evening to remember.
The reboot coming out on the 30 year anniversary feels kind of like Amazon's Rings of Power coming out on the anniversary of Tolkien's death.
They do it on purpose. They hate the fans of the original products because those products are "problematic" to them.
I was 15 when I went to see the Crow in the theater for the first time. The kid just in front of me got busted for being to young and he argued with the lady. She was so mad she didn’t ask me for an ID and I was lucky enough to get a ticket. It’s been my favorite movie in the world ever since. To me it’s the perfect film. Sad, romantic some humor thrown in action. It’s takes you through all your emotions. And it’s legacy belongs to BRANDON LEE!!!
I'm seeing The Crow (1994) next month in England where I'm from. Wanted to see it for many years there. Can't wait!!!
They showed the Crow at my local cinema already in the beginning of this year, and I did indeed not regret getting a ticket for that. The movie is amazing on DVD, but watching it in a movie theater is like a loved fairytale coming true.
Rather than rebooting everything; they should just remaster some of these old classics and release them in theaters.
I am in Orlando and a theater here was playing the original Alien.
I would love to rewatch so many great films in theater
The only time I've seen The Crow was at the theater in 1994. Thank you for mentioning this SJ. I will be looking forward to this appearing at the theater, so I can see it again after a long haitus.
I was 20.
There is only one Crow.
GenX is the pinnacle.
The Crow is showing at our local Odeon on 3rd June, so I'm educating my Son. He asked if I wanted to watch the remake with him. We haven't spoken in 2 weeks!
I remember seeing The Crow with my date at the drive-in, and halfway into the movie, it started raining. We weren’t worried that rain was pouring in, so that awkward metal soundbox remained on top of the window glass
I was in high school when this came out. Me with a group of friends all went to see it when it was released and totally loved it. It really catered to the alternative, goth, punk, and metal subcultures of that time, especially since the sound track comprised of bands we loved: Pantera, NIN, STP, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, etc..
Not only are they re-releasing the film, but the 4K/UHD remastered version is also came out March 29.
The Crow with Brandon Lee is the only Crow movie hands down. That film is the greatest graphic novel/comic movie adaption of all time. Brandon gave his life for this movie and it shows from start to finish. Bought my tickets for May 29th and I am super stoked for the opportunity to watch my favorite movie of all time on the big screen. RIP Brandon aka THE ONE AND ONLY ERIC DRAVEN.
Just discovered your channel today after the algorithm recommended this video. I had the good fortune of seeing the film opening night 30 years ago. My friends and I still talk about it. There is no substitute. In my top 5.
I was seven or eight years old when The Crow came out, so I never saw it in its entirety, just a few seconds total, and never saw the appeal to it.
But I saw it in the theaters during its re-release the day before yesterday and, as an adult, I get it. This is a movie that should be left alone. I'm glad I got to see it for the first time on the big screen.
My copy of The Crow is in arms reach and I almost want to watch it right now. I've had ample opportunity to buy cheap copies of all of the sequels but the original is the only one I care to own.
wow.....amazing to see such passion for a movie that came out before you was born. I remember being in awe as a kid growing up on Bruce Lee, then finding out he died before I was even born....then to know he had a son....who was about to headline his first big action movie, Rapid Fire. I thought Brandon was cool af....and then came 1993 and they said he was killed making a new movie called The Crow which was based on an indy comic book....I remember trying to find out all I could about the movie....I didn't see it in theaters in 1994 but when I was finally able to see it on vhs......damn......part of my top 10 movies....if it comes to a local theater, I'm definitely gonna see it in theaters.
I wish they would bring back Showdown in Little Tokyo to theaters.
Brandon Lees Spirit was like Hell I'm getting replaced
It’ll be hilarious if (1994) The Crow two day limited release does better than the reboot’s entire theatrical run.🐦⬛
My niece (17yrs old I'm a failure ) has yet to see it so she'll be seeing it for the first time on the big screen, so excited!
I appreciate people after my generation digging the awesome stuff that came out when I was a kid.
Saw it in the theaters while serving in Keflavik way back in '94. Unfortunately, we missed the first 10 minutes of it. At least I have the Blu Ray now and watch it every Halloween. I'd like to see it on the big screen again, but I have to work both of those days. It's also the only movie soundtrack I ever bought, and still have.
There's a lot of movies I would love to see in theaters. But didn't bc I was either not born yet, or didn't have the 💰. I have a feeling theaters are going to have to rerelease movies to make 💰. They're not making 💰 with the current crap from Hollywood. Once in a while there's a movie that makes a billion dollars. But that's not enough to keep movie theaters open.
It was a long time ago but I still remember how devastated I was when I heard that Brandon Lee died. The Crow is Iconic.
Congrats on the memorabilia solid cosplay. I saw The Crow in theaters when I was 12, and I'm hoping the theaters where I'm at are playing it to rewatch it on the silver screen in HD. Thanks for the info, Snarky. I hope you were lucky enough to pick up the 4k release of the crow.
At least you got to meet O’Barr. He was supposed to come to a con in Sydney but was stopped at customs so I never got my chance. And shit I saw the film twice in 94 in the cinema had the pirate vhs then the laser disc dvd and blu ray and graphic novel. Not to mention I have all the original trading cards, the poster of the crow in the chair the movie poster and a metallic merchandise sign gifted to me from the comic book shop I used to frequent often.
French Crow fan here, passing along that dark passion to my kids and hoping it will be re-released in theatres in France too so they can experience it on the big screen. Just bought the 4k BR, was only checking the video quality yesterday night, ended up watching it till the end for the 100th time.
I keep thinking this movie is a curse and a miracle at the same time, so romantic. It's like Brandon Lee's soul kept an eye on the production so they can finish it. It's a masterclass in rythm, mise en scene, editing, dialogs, acting, music, cinematography, everything...
Wait? James O'Barr was less than pleasant? I've seen him several times, and he is the kindest! I even sat next to him at a screening of the 94 Crow film, he was such a down to earth person.
May the fourth be with you Jay! Happy Saturday!!
There are two movies I saw every weekend during its theatrical run.
The Crow & Tombstone.
I've stated in the past on your channel, but I skipped school with a couple of my best friends to see the original Crow when it first was in the theatre. I absolutely plan on seeing the re-release once it hits theaters again, and can't wait!
I love how passionate you get about this movie.
Happy 30th anniversary to the crow
#RIP to the beautiful soul of Brandon Lee.
May 11th, 1994.
Can't wait, so glad you posted it on your stories!!! 🔥🤘🔥
For this Rant alone, Snarky Jay. I SALUTE YOU. 🙂
i was in like 4th grade i think when the crow came out. i didn't see it in the theater cause i was like 9 or whatever but one of my friends got the VHS from his older sister & we used to watch it all the time.
I was born in 85, The crow was my favorite movie growing up right next to Pulp fiction on the vhs. I was slightly excited about this remake but not surprised it's failing and sucks a hard D. I honestly like Bill Skarsgard but knew it would probably be trash. Remake a movie for idiots and change everything good about it, you get a bad movie. The times.
I am happy for you. The Crow (1994) is one of my favorite movies. I am much older than you and did not had the pleasure of watching it on cinemas but still is a favorite for me and it has a very special place in my heart. I live in Greece so no chance of watching it on cinemas, but still happy for you. Enjoy and celebrate with your eyes, heart and soul. Take care...
It's my favourite film of all time and I saw it on release back in the day...I hope this is global not just the US. I'll never set my eyes on the reboot like Johnny Depp with Amber Turd.
"Nothing is trivial" favourite line in the film.
I wish I could see it on the big screen once more. Unfortunately, I'm somewhere it won't be shown. Like you, my first time watching it when it was first released. It hit me deep inside my heart and soul.
Soooooo glad i came upon ur channel. I didnt know they were releasing The Crow!! Left this video and got my ticket. I saw it the first time it came out. I have an Eric figure that came in a walmart exclusive box that looks like a VHS tape. So excited to see it again.
There used to be a small cinema in my city, operated by a church. They usually played movies way after release date, as they were cheaper, and they handed discounted tickets (and a handful of free ones) in to most schools in the city. They only got The Crow in late 1994 (November or so, it had premiered in August here in Argentina). I watched it for the first time when I was 10 with one of their free tickets. They I watched it 2 more times throughout November-December. Then there came the holidays, and in March we went back to school (school year down here is March-December, we get the whole summer with no school). First week, we again got free tickets for it, they were still playing it. And I went to watch it in cinema again. It won't be re-released here, it took almost threats for them to re-release Back to the Future back in 2015, and it was only one showing, a Tuesday at midnight, with no promotion for it anywhere. But at least I got to watch it back in the day, and it blew my mind!
BTW, yes, I was 10, at a church-operated cinema, watching Top Dollar and his sister Myca fuck a girl to death, murder, arson, r4p3, drugs, etc.
Happy Saturday Jay!!
I was 13 when the crow came out and I remember the news story about him dying on set came out while they were filming. What a loss. His performance was so great that I think he could have gone on to be a huge movie star
Oh thank God I thought I was the only one with basically a shrine
We had a limited 30th anniversary theatre screening here in Sydney Australia in March this year at a beautiful old cinema called the Hayden Orpheum- it was fantastic to see it on the big screen after so many years, the biggest difference was the 5.1 mix. My 4k remaster blu ray just arrived on Friday too.
I have been a fan of The Crow since it was first released as a bootleg on VHS, I was 12 years old. 30 years later, Im finally watching it on the big screen. To say it’s a dream come true is an understatement. This movie literally saved my life during that time. By watching it in the movie theater is the least I can do to honor Brandon’s legacy. 🥀
James O'Barr made it clear back before the 94 version when his comic was on the rise that The Crow is not one person... There are several versions, A native american who comes back to kill confederate soldiers who pillaged his village, A mexican boxer whos family was killed for not taking a dive in a fight.. Knowing that just give the latest version a chance at least before writing it off. Its great seeing some sort of resurrection of The Crow. Skarsgard makeup is closer to the comic version and they even have the undead cowboy from what i see in the trailers as his afterlife guide which is another faithful adaption to the comic. If you truly loved The Crow, the comics and its cinematic sequels then you know damn well it cant possibly be worse than "wicked prayer".
I'll have to check and see if it's playing around here. Thanks for the heads up on that.
The 90’s was a great time to be alive. This movie was very different and had a very cool vibe to it. Way ahead of it’s time. Movies put more effort into soundtracks as the internet was in its infancy stage. It turned out to be a big part of the movie going triple platinum.
I was 14 and saw this in the theater. It changed my life too. Thanks for the heads up about this.
I remember seeing the vhs of the crow like 5 times a week back in the day!!! Also recorded the music on cassette tape so I can hear daily!!!! Love this classic🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hell yeah! Thank you, Jay for saying what should have been said a long time ago. I think most people would agree that we are so done with reboots and remasters. Not just with Hollywood but the video games industry as well.
"... you have put a smile on my face".
I LOVE the original Crow! I have it on DVD, Blue-Ray and Digital! My Uncle gave me his VHS as well! There's just no copy/ reboot that can ever replace it! I do get the whole "reboot," BS though because all the movies of the 90's (even the 80's), were stuff of legend. The storytelling, and acting back then were legendary. No one can write stories good enough to even compete against them nowadays.
I'm glad that you will finally be able to see your favorite movie on the big screen. It's a wonderful experience.
Paused this only long enough to buy my tickets. 🙂
I saw the original in theaters when I was 14 years old - looking forward to seeing it again.
Stay amazing, Jay!
As Lebowski would say, "Ill be there man..." Thx for the heads up on this. Just bought my ticket here in San Antonio for 6:30pm screening. I saw this at the theater when it came out and am grateful to see it once again on the big screen. Imo there should be a law preventing classic films like this from being remade. The Crow was meant to be a one and done w/ no sequels and no remakes. Gonna go "FIRE IT UP" on the soundtrack and grab my 18" Neca Toys Eric Draven. RIP Brandon Lee
I saw the original movie in theaters when it came out. That was such a great experience. If you can find it, grab the physical copy of the soundtrack.
I saw the original Crow the first night when I was 19. Saw it about 5 more times. This is one of my top 5 movies
At the time I never read the comic. I had seen 1 or 2 Brandon Lee movies. Also I knew at the time this was the first time this technology was being used.
Lightning in a bottle. Everything was perfect. The backdrop. The characters. The actors. The soundtrack. Perfect. I still quote this movie til today. I crack up at the line " Why don't you go sit on a toilet" lol. To me at that time and still just a perfect movie. You can't reboot or remake it. The best line in the movie which still runs true probably even more so in today's time. " Victims aren't we all"
I saw the original in theaters so many times. I've purchased every version that's come out (I've preordered the 4K!) and still have the magazines from it's release, graphic novels, signed posters from J O'barr (you're right about him :) McFarlane toys, etc.) This movie is the foundation of one of my best friendships, and I even mentioned it in my best man speech so I get where your animosity towards the reboot comes from. I truly believe this reboot could be good if only they called him by any other name because new viewers wouldn't know and old viewers wouldn't feel jilted. I'm hoping they go through and AI that shit to change every utterance of Eric and Shelly to see if the story has any legs to stand on.
Hope you have a wonderful night seeing something you're passionate about. The Crow like many other Classics should never be hijacked!!!
I'm really Chuffed for you. Have a great time and Cheer's Snarky Jay.x (Chuffed in the UK means Very Happy and Pleased for you)
Thank you so much! I just bought my tickets and so beyond excited!!! Now I have to figure out the crow makeup since I want to go all out! 😎
I totally agree with you ....these studios need to realize we want the original movies back in theaters not the crap remakes. I went to see the 89 Batman when it was in theaters and it was awesome. If Disney/ Lucasfilm wanted to make fans happy and make $$$$$$ they would put the original trilogy....untouched ....back in theaters.
