I was completely blown away by the audio sound in our MYLR. Incredible, I felt like I was watching a concert live. Then I had to look up who produced the sound for the Y and found out Tesla hired engineers from Bang & Olufsen…then I said, that explains it!
It’s awesome, bass and treble is too high from factory, but it takes less than 30 seconds to change it. I have it set to 0.5 on sub, -1.5 on bass and -0.5 on treble and it’s perfect
My settings, works for modern recorded music. sub: -1.5 bass: +0.5 midbass: -2.0 mid: +2.5 midhigh: +1.5 high: -0.5 immersive: between off and standard This might be anecdotal, but reducing the sub seemed to improve that ear pressurization feeling I was experiencing at highway speeds, when I have the audio louder.
Anyone interested in a decently neutral eq, here's mine so far for the German built Model Y (I'll probably refine it more with time and update the settings): sub 1.0 (for slightly more bass at the rear seats) bass -3.0 mid bass 2.0 (controls around 200hz, clearly missing response, easily hearable with sine sweep, pink noise or comparison to any decent sound system, so I'm questioning this review and opinions which are definitely not that subjective) mids 0.5 (controls around 1khz) mid highs 0.5 (controls around 4khz) highs -2.0 (actually would need to be lower but then its simply missing the response above 10khz) Imersive sound between off and middle (off would be ideal for neutral reproduction but then the surround speakers next to sun visors are not used)
Thanks for talking about other qualities besides EV range! I as well found my ‘23 MY system a step above my ‘18 Lexus RX350. I can just tell by testing CZcams high res. demo musics!
As an audiophile, the sound systems are seriously taken into consideration. I agree with your assessment, though I have the 2022 model 3 LR. My one disappointment is the road noise at highway speed affecting the sound quality. Below highway speed, it’s better than my m5, imho. But above 70mph, the road noise can overwhelm the sound system and a serious compromise for daily driver enjoyment. Suggestions please?
Hey love your videos mate! Was just wondering- I’m currently struggling to find a nice sound in my model why. Feel like it’s too front heavy. Do you suggest maybe moving the balance back?
Thank you! Interesting, wasn't the case in the tested vehicle - do you have the AWD model or the RWD model? As for your actual question - you could go a few notches back on the slider, but that might negatively affect the impact of the system.
Great run-through! Now I don't know what kind of microphone you use but it's very mid range and now much else. (as in bass or treble) That said I'm sure the system sounds great...
I wish I had watched this video when I owned my Tesla Model 3. I like the way you recommend the audio settings that in your opinion bring out the most optimal sound. I loved the sound system but found the treble & bass a little overwhelming at higher volumes and sometimes suffered ear fatigue. I now own a Volvo C40 Recharge and was able to find recommended sound settings online. It has really made a difference. If you have any recommendations for the sound settings in the Harman Kardon system in the C40, please do share. The way I have it set up now in my C40 is with treble at +5 (out of 10), bass at -4 and the surround sound at no more than 30% to help preserve the mid range clarity.
Glad you like the review format, although surprising you found the treble and bass overpowering, especially the latter frequency range in comparison to the Volvo! @@TotallyEV Good point. The bass in the Volvo was very strong and I had to turn it down. One thing that made the Tesla much better was when a recent software upgrade brought in the ‘Auto’ setting for the subwoofer. It started automatically adjusting the low frequencies based on what was playing and it made a significant difference. Overall going from the Tesla to the Volvo (from a sound system perspective) initially felt like a mistake. I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) the subwoofer in the C40 is in the front and I felt the mids and highs were being drowned out. Once I adjusted the settings, I started seeing the benefits of the Hartman Kardon system in the Volvo. What I love most is the clarity in the instrument separation. That said, if I had a Model 3/Y now I would definitely turn the treble down a few clicks and keep the subwoofer on ‘Auto’. About the immersive sound in the Tesla, I always had it on. What benefits did you see when turning it off?

Imersive sound between off and middle (off would be ideal for neutral reproduction but then the surround speakers next to sun visors are not used)
