When they do I will have free 30 minute charging at their fast charger for my 1st 2 years of ownership. One thing I miss about the Tesla is the sentry mode. I hated to part with that but I guess you have to take the good with the bad on every car. I was initially going to go with the Model Y before this came out and probably would have if not for the constant price increases and terribly long wait time. Decent overall review, though rather light on detail. Would be useful to include things like bitrates... Slacker is 40kbps on Tesla though can be higher if you install the LiveOne (renamed Slacker) on cell phone. While you might like the power shifted to the right as a driver , power of audio output DOES NOT DETERMINE SPEED ... As you even mention "speed of sound" but don't mention it is a constant in air (761 MPH) so making it louder on one side doesn't make it arrive to that ear sooner or later. You might like the way it sounds better that way but in no way is your description of time of audio arrival valid.

    Which streaming audio service is preferred? Tidal? Slacker radio? Spotify?

    • @BecauseTesla

      Slacker is great if you want to hear a song, and the service is free (no subscription). Tidal and Spotify are great for listening to entire albums, but both require a monthly subscription. I’ve been listening to Spotify more often lately. So it depends on how much you want to pay. The winners would be Slacker (free) and Spotify (paid).

    As my understanding tidal doesn’t have a higher bitrate Inless you download the songs over wifi?

    • @BecauseTesla
      @BecauseTesla  Před 2 lety +1

      I haven't heard anything about downloading it over wifi. There are songs and albums that say "Hifi" next to them, and those stream at 1411kbps or 16-Bit / 44.1 kHz. If you upgrade your account to the highest tier, you can stream "Master Quality" audio which reflects the original source and can stream up to 9216 kbps or 24-Bit / 192 kHz (typically 96 kHz / 24 bit). The songs without the label stating "Hifi" or "Master" seem to be streaming in standard audio like Spotify. If I play a song in the free Slacker Streaming app in the Tesla, and then play the same song in Tidal with the "Hifi" label, I can hear an improvement in audio.

    I'm curious about your experience with USB. Do you use a large portable SSD, like 1TB? Do you use FLAC and add the cover art to your files (with a tool like MP3Tag). Is there a resolution limit in Tesla for the cover art?

    • @BecauseTesla
      @BecauseTesla  Před 2 lety +3

      I was using a high-speed USB thumb drive (256MB) for a few years but ran out of space this past year. I am currently using my SSD (Samsung T7) and it holds 500MB. It does ok but takes forever to load. I've played around with FLAC, but decided against it due to the file size. I would rather have more songs than higher quality. So with the latest software from Tesla, they now show album artwork if it is attached to the file in your USB drive. I'm in the Apple iTunes ecosystem (have been for years), so it's just easier to use Apple's codec. It's a smaller files size, but without the loss in audio quality. For example, an Apple AAC file at 256k is going to often sound better than an MP3 at 320k. If I buy from Apple, the artwork is automatically attached. If I download an MP3 from somewhere else, then I can add its artwork in iTunes if it's not already attached. I don't consider myself an "audiophile", although I do appreciate high quality, I would rather have more quantity than higher quality (in my car). In a recording studio...that's entirely different. If there is a resolution limit in the Tesla, I am not aware of what that limit is.

    • @reyalPRON
      @reyalPRON Před 2 lety +1

      Butting in here :) After a quick search i found that 1600×1600 pixels seems to be the industry standard for streaming audio artwork.
      Also, i use a 1tb sandisk usb 3 stick in the 2.0 port in my aging 2019 m3 dualmotor. I get stable playback of 16bit 192khz, have not tested 24 flac yet though.

    • @BecauseTesla
      @BecauseTesla  Před 2 lety

      No, you can not. Part of the cost savings from SR model is lack of stereo equipment. I feel that the LR AWD version is the best version and value overall...you get the longest amount of range, plus the upgraded stereo. If you want a more premium stereo in the SR model, you will have to install your own aftermarket kit like the one that Hansshow sells.

How is that racist? Race has more to do with skin tone and ethnicity, not language. By the way, my wife’s family immigrated here from México and her parents don’t speak English. They’re learning by watching TV in English. The karaoke in the Tesla is another great way to learn because it spells out the word for you while being pronounced by the singer.
