    I've had a few 64 Galaxies, and I put 15×8 Cragars with 295 50x15s on the rear. Tires were a bit too big for the wheel, but never had an issue with it, and I drove all over the west coast. There is alot of wheel well space on those Galaxies! 😉

    Rocking 12.5 × 28 ×15 on the Rear w/ Mickie Thompson sportsman pro tires. I'm not doing a rear tire on the road. Either calling AAA or going and getting my trailer to get it home or a shop. Good video my brother keep em on he road.

    These cars were jacked with a bumper jack which allowed the rear axle to droop farther and if you flip your shackles it will drop even farther l personally have placed L60 15 on my 63.5 galaxie which are wider and they are on 9in rims

    15x8 with 4.5 backspace. 275/60. Factory Jack or a trail Jack, lifts the car from the rear bumper which lifts the car correctly to have the space to install/remove

    I have to sneak in my 235/70/15 BFG on 8" 3.5" bs Cragar SS under my 64. Thinking about getting some shock extensions for the bottom of the air shocks and maybe that will let the shocks extend and let the rear end droop a bit further. I'm also thinking about flipping my shackles. Maybe. I like my car to sit with the bottom of the fender just above the rim. The front sits higher now, with aluminum heads, intake, headers, aluminum radiator, waterpump 3G alternator, race starter. It raised it about 1.5"-2".

    I think your issue is your jacking point. Your jacking it from the spring perch. I have issues on my 62 with stock rims where i have to lift from the frame and let the axle drop all the way down before installing. I haven’t thought about the rolling technique i might give that a try next time.

    The only way I got my 18" wheels on was to jack both sides and let the axle drop all the way down. That just means a second jack probably on the side of the road.

    Been trying to get the best tire and rim size combo for my 64 also, so found this vid at the perfect time. What did you end up with on the front of your car? You did a great job explaining how to get that tire on and off for that rear. Thank you.

      I went with a 225/60R15 in front and the 255/60R15 in the rear. So happy with the way they look, and no rubbing in the front. Thanks again. Your 64 looks awesome.

    I got a 61 Galaxie and was thinking about going 215/70 or 215/75 on the front and 235/70 or 235/75 or 255/70 for the rears. I got 15 inch Cragars with a 4.1 backspacing any thoughts?

    I put 18x8s with 225/45/19 and so many people on the galaxie pages were chirpping they won't FIT......wheel and tire sizing is some kinda Voo doo that people don't understand

    • @virginiagalaxie697
      @virginiagalaxie697  Před 4 měsíci

      Yep… people just can’t put together overall size with wheel and tire size. The wheel
      And tire calculator is so easy to use.
      Your tire size with 19s is exactly the same size as
      Mine with 15s.

    • @davidkeeton6716

      Get the lightest jack that you can get from Jegs or Summit maybe even Harbor Freight. Then drill the frame of it like they used to drill EVERYTHING on a gasser. Don't get stupid and weaken it too badly. Then you can haul it around. Put it on the right rear like a battery or in the center. Remember it's a spare. Get a light rim, front drag wheel and tire or a rare light spare from an, what was it? 80s or 90s Ford car.
