    Loved Ford styling back in the 60s, especially 64 and 67 Galaxies. And I miss window vents for fresh air.

    I remember my Dad having a 1964 Ford Galaxy. It was a light blue color , I was only a couple years old at the time but I remember my Dad punching the throttle one day and I was in the back seat smiling, while my mom was in the front screaming at my Dad to slow down. I'll never forget the smile on his face.

      That is why I had one when I was a young guy with very little care about much. Mine had a 406 in it that was hot-rodded with cam and extras. I remember leaving Dairy Queen Drive In and was doing about 20 mph when I shifted to second and thought I'd let them hear the new big ass blue thrush mufflers I had just installed. When I shifted I push the go pedal about 2/3 throttle, right when the secondaries start to open up on the two Holley Four Barrels I was running on that medium rise intake. Well the homeade slicks I had on started picking up the ass end of that Ford when the tires started spinning and boiling blue smoke and screaming rubber on the road. That's right about the time a city cop comes by me and turns his lights on before he starts turning around. I am completely on the west side of town and the town is about 4-5 miles from one welcome sign to the other. I picked up my right foot and got traction and then I started picking up speed. I look to see that the cop is actually stuck and he has not turned yet. I hammer down and red lights be damned I am not giving them my money again. When I passed the welcome sign going in the direction of my house I had the needle stuck at the bottom of the ruler type speedometer in the old girl. About 20 minutes after I had parked my car there were seceral State boys passing in front of my house. I never saw anything written up about it but that was not the first time I have made it home long before they knew who it was. Too late boys.

    I was 17 in 1970,my dad bought a one owner '64 Galaxie 500XL for my first car. White over red & red interior. 390 4 barrel, cruise o matic,bucket seats, console w/floor shifter. AM/FM & under dash knob to adjust volume between front & rear speakers. I have a lot of great memories of that car almost 53 years later!

    • @TBullCajunbreadmaker
      @TBullCajunbreadmaker Před rokem +2

      Well, when I was 17 my mother gave me a 64 Galaxie with a 352 high performance package. It made the same horsepower as a 390 4barrel engine of 305 hp. Amyway the C-6 tranny was slipping. Everything else on the car was in really good shape though. After getting screwed by a transmission shop it ran great and I kept it for about a year. I went from that one and at 18 y/o I found a factory black with red interior on a 64 Galaxie 500 XL. This car had a rare 406 with dual 4 barrel and factory headers. I put in a 3/4 Isky race cam and solid lifters to go with the cam. Another odd item was that it cae with a three speed with O/D on the floor. You put it in O/drive with a push/pull button on the side of the shift knob. It also came with a 3.500 locking hub differential. So it had a posi-trac rear end. That was really rare. I sure wish I had that car again. The Galaxie in this video looks a lot like my 406 car except for the color, I think that 406 would have given that 427 a run for it's money. I think that there was very little difference in horsepower but the 427 had more torque by a very small margin

      @Mike583 Před rokem +1

      @@TBullCajunbreadmaker A friend had a '63 Galaxie,can't remember if it had a 352 or 390. It had the 3 speed on the column with od. It had a t handle under the dash,push the clutch in,pull the handle out & the overdrive would engage.

    • @TBullCajunbreadmaker
      @TBullCajunbreadmaker Před rokem +1

      @@Mike583 Yes, my Grandpa bought a brand new one just like it. I remember my Aunt saying that they must have sold him the cheapest price for a new car she had seen. And it was true because he bought a true standard featured car that had one option on the car and it was an AM radio. Evidently you could still bbuy a standard Ford car of any line that Ford offered. You might have to order it and pay for it but you could still get them. What color do you think Ford's standard color was?

      @@TBullCajunbreadmaker I'm guessing it starts with a b&ends with a k! Just a guess! By the way,I knew a guy that had a black '64 that had 289 high performance badges on the front fenders. I never thought anything about it back then. It had a 4 speed,but I thought the hi po came out in '65.

    • @TBullCajunbreadmaker
      @TBullCajunbreadmaker Před rokem +1

      @@Mike583 I don't think it was a that much of an oddity. I have seen some really strange drivetrain combinations in my day. I would say that my fascination with cars really got going when I was about 10 y.o. My Mom always drove a Galaxie when we were growing up. My Dad always had a car that hardly ever got over 2 years old before he went and picked out a new company car. Usually a Ford but he went through a lot of different car maes. I remember he picked out a new Chevy Caprice 1972 year. It had a 400 cu engine with a 4 speed automatic. a huge Carter 4 bbl and factory headers with factory dual exhaust. I would take the air cleaner top and turn it upside down and then screwed it down so that the filter element was always exposed to the airpressure and the noises that the carb and the exhaust had together was really throaty and loud. The only Chevy he ever had. My first job I had as a driver was as a dealership interchange driver. I would be given the keys of a car and an address with a time and contact name. When I delivered the car my contact would sign for the car and I would either initial or sign his paperwork, etc. The same process would start with this dealership and so on until I would get back anywhere close to home. I would call and check out. When I was ready to resume I would call a number and tell the guy I was now checking back in. Here we go again. I might end up in NewYork but eventually I would work my way back south. By the time I was almost 19 I had 5 steady dealerships I worked for. I did a good job and kept my mouth shut about anything I might have seen. If you can shut up and follow orders you will be just fine and will eventually be trusted. I never asked any questions about what might have been in the trunks of these cars. I will tell you that the kinds of cars that I drove just happen to be some of the largest frame size and were built for the heaviest of payloads. Quite a few of these cars were equipped with a hydraulic or pneumatic leveling systems. You could put as much as you wanted to put in most of the trunks. Most new cars in 1971 and 72 had pretty much reached the horsepower heights they would achieve before the Arab oil embargo. From 1973 onward gas guzzlers were a thing of the past and diminishing horsepower was the game then. Today we have twice the horsepower and half of the fuel useage of cars of the 60s and very early 70s. I am running on so I'll stop for now.

    Excellent and wonderful work
    to maintain these cars
    Even a six-cylinder Ford engine has the ability to give those cars the required efficiency. I grew up in the sixties and seventies, and I remember well, those cars did not use eight-cylinder engines, only luxury cars had eight cylinders, such as Lincoln, and the distinctive design was , It had One connected front seat, not two, and the gearshift lever suspended behind the steering wheel, it is desirable if the original shape is preserved when renewing,

It runs, but I think he wants to sell it because he asked me to find some comparable models, but I can't find a single one like it except in 1 CZcams video. It still needs all new door paneling and the convertible material, some minor body work (just rust and painting, no damage), and it starts up just fine. It's used car salesman language. Blah blah .... words .... yada yada .... I hope you buy it because I don't know squat about cars, just repeating what I think I heard somebody say. Like his "top oiler 427" the traction lock transmission and the radio he doesn't know the name of but, has several of them in his own cars. Doesn't seem to know you could get A/C in that car either. He knew everything under the hood was "correct" though. He got to practice that word many times.
