This short documentary covers a restoration of a 1964 Ford Thunderbolt. With only 100 of these cars in existence, take a look at what the team at Karl Kustoms can do!
Towards the end of his life, Dyno Don Nicholson was building 1964 Ford Fairlanes with 460 stroker Ford engines called Lightning Bolts. Only 3 were ever completed.
In a phone chat many years ago Carl told me about driving the Iowa Shaker Falcon owned by Dick Walter's Ford. On the shift from 1st to 2nd the seat broke loose and ended up in the back. Good lookin Bolt Carl!
I was now the caretaker of ; 1963-1/2 factory light weight FORD GALAXIE 500 XL : 427 In line or front to back mid riser doul holey 4 barrle carbs. And a complete nascar engine with light weight interñal engine parts. My Ford light weight came out of the Norfolk Virginia dealer ship ordered with the R code package and painted coranthium white and red interior with white headliner. And given a name and known as "Bwitched" as I was Introduced by my dad and was also now with painted color black with same red interior.
The original engine blew out when on the engine dyno. The owner decided to keep the original engine on a stand with the car so the entire factory vehicle was still there.
One of my bucket list cars

He had A Comet 427 , think it was the Cammer. dream car for me
One of the first model cars I built was a Thunderbolt. I painted it yellow. It still looks like a beast.
Beautiful car
This is a car worth the time and effort oh and money
Awesome cars!!!
Those cars were animals.

Yeah I lived were dandy Dick brannan raced and waited outside the garage were the T bolt was parked 👍😎 the old hippie
What is the VIN on that one?
That and the 63 Impala Z11 were some of my favorites
@DustinBaerwolf-kv9jx, '63 Impala Z11 cars were junk which is why Junior Johnson switched to Ford in '64. Z11 engines kept breaking.
Great video. Was any part of the original engine utilized in this build?

So it's not really a 427 Hi Riser....
Another shop building a replication calling it the real thing. The front bumper is to low. On a real thunderbolt the rock guard isn't visible.
You are wrong 127 we're built
Ford always did have the most horsepower hour
All of that and any Super Stock Dodge Dart will walk away from it.
It'll run better with a 427 ZL1
😂
Ford never used lacquer paint.
Nice build but needs old school wheels.
