- We are often asked how we maintain our historic printing presses in our print shop exhibit. In this video, Howard demonstrates what is needed to keep our Washington hand press in operation the same way it operated 170 years ago.
Our Washington hand press was manufactured in 1852 by the Charles Foster & Brother Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.

So Relaxing to watch
Funny finding these sorts of channels. 😁👌 Simple but neat, thank you.
Loool on it running so easy now and getting *SLAMED*, haha.
Yes relaxing. Thanks California museum. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Howard and the Press have one thing in common: Well oiled!
Floor needs oiling too 🤭
Our squeaky floor definitely gives our videos some ✨ambiance✨
@@SacramentoHistoryMuseum 😍I love a good walk on an ✨ ambianceish ✨ floor
I was just thinking how nice the sound of the squeaky floor was! Can't quite put my finger on it...
I came here to say the same! But the squeaky floor fits perfectly with the theme of the videos.
This is no JOKE.
Love these videos, what actually requires maintenance is the floor!
what type of oil do u use? multi purpose? motor ? coconut? or evoo?,😂 something about the tone of Howard's voice is calm and relaxing. I like how u show us everything about the presses including mantinance ans cleaning.
Love it
And you have an old oil can!!😎🤩 even better! 👍🏻👍🏻
Now I see it
ASMR
A few people probably think "ASMR" refers to videos of people making noises or whispering into a microphone, and not the actual sensation the _viewer_ experiences. The clue is in the name, "autonomous sensory median response". It's related to your senses. And it doesn't even have to be those stupid so-called "ASMR" videos that consist of "Hey, it's free real estate" whispering, or just scratching beards or whatever. It isn't even limited to audio. Some people might experience ASMR during a massage, or while in a barbershop getting their hair cut, or even washed. Others may experience ASMR when watching relaxing videos, such as this, or simply be listening to lo-fi music.
I think you should oil the floor
Even the oil can fits into the period. 😊
@bbarber1974 The Oil Can Is MODERN Because I Bought One Like It Last Week. NO Flexible Metal Tubing Back In The 1850's...
God dsmit took oil can
Fix your damn floor
Fix your social skills
What is the need to be rude? Who the hell do you think you are to give them orders?
That Squeaky Floor Fits Right In With The 19th Century Machinery. There Were LOTS Of Old 19th Century Buildings Still Being Used When I Was A Kid In The 1950's. And Most Of Them Had The Same Squeaky Floors. It Brings Back Old Fond Memories For Me indeed...
you could have just said “fix your floors”. no need to say it in a rude way
At Age 82, Howard Is A Natural For That Print Shop. I Bet He LOVES Spending His Days Working There. I Hope When I Reach His Age, I Can Still Be As Useful As Howard. You Gotta Love The Guy...
How do you know he's 82? I've also heard he's 91.
