I remember this list, in fact, back when it was made public, I wrote a poem about it, using every word on thd list. English is not my first language, so excuse all the errors, but I'm still pretty proud of what I wrote while feeling pretty pissed about Trump bekng elected. Some queer folks living in states that are shitty towards us (like me, living in Texas) like pride merch specific to our state because it’s like reclaiming the state - we live here too, this is our state too, we have queer Texan (or Floridian, etc.) pride. It’s nice to see other Texans who not only support us but believe in a queer friendly future for the state, and are actively trying to create safe communities here now.

It’s also worth noting that the Republican Texas government has been incredibly effective in suppressing voting rights (through gerrymandering, voter ID laws, closing polling locations, decreasing access to mail in voting, etc), so while I always vote and encourage everyone to do the same, it isn’t always as simple as “just vote” - that has been purposely made difficult for many people, particularly poor people and POC. But regardless, us advocates in Texas are voting, we are doing the work, and proudly displaying our support for our fellow LGBTQ+ Texans is part of that. I’m not sure why these two actions would contradict each other. We who live under cruel governments deserve community and support, just like everyone else.

They highlight the few out lgbt/queer people in nascar (there were (maybe still are) a couple of gay guys in the pits, not much else as of last year). I personally wouldn't go to a race without my dad with me to protect me, but. They do genuinely try.

They removed the pink because it was in low supply, and then later removed the turquoise to make it an even number of stripes. Now that the pink is more available, there's a little bit of a revival of people using the original flag. The original flag's colors were also associated with different meanings: Hot pink - Sex Red - Life Orange - Healing Yellow - Sunlight Green - Nature Turquoise - Magic Indigo - Serenity Violet - Spirit There's a little bit of on-the-nose symbolism that the "correct", commercialized flag has the Sex and Magic taken out of it.

Hi Shaaba! Cool fact: the rainbow on the coaster isn't wrong, it's from the ORIGINAL pride flag designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978! Two of the stripes were later removed to make the flag easier to mass produce and keep the number of stripes even, but it remains my favorite version.
So apparently the Spride can was real. They were limited edition cans given out for free at the 2018 Mexico City Pride Parade. Sprite definitely needs to bring these back.

I don't know if it would be possible for more "liberal" biblical scholars to put together similar presentations that reframe the interpretations of the verses that were used to encourage the passage of the law to change enough hearts to make a difference. Certainly if such an effort were begun I'd be happy to also promote it.

Hi Shaaba! Cool fact: the rainbow on the coaster isn't wrong, it's from the ORIGINAL pride flag designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978! Two of the stripes were later removed to make the flag easier to mass produce and keep the number of stripes even, but it remains my favorite version.

The Ah, men shirt reminds me of a funny moment in choir a couple months ago. We were learning Mozart's Coronation Mass in C (in case any of y'all know it, it's lowkey a bop), and at the end we sing like 50 'Amen's. We kept saying them like a-MEN, instead of A-men, and my choir teacher told us to accent the 'ah' and barely even say men. He said something like 'Who needs men, get them out of here!' which was so hilarious because he's a gay man with a husband, and most of our class is lesbians.
