1:24: "To create a universe, you must taste the forbidden fruit..." Björk's voice is simply stunning here!
Everything you need to know about vocal technique right there. I've often thought that.
@Michael D I couldn’t agree more and I’ve always thought that too! I just love the emphasis she puts on each syllable of the word “universe”. She’s such a gifted vocalist!
@Talorc MacAllan Thank you for your reply, Talorc. Good to know there are people out there who appreciate great music, and you are passing it on to younger generations. I'm 59, and was (still am) one of Björk's biggest fans. I had all her CD's, video's, books, etc. My girlfriend at the time wasn't happy how obsessed I was with this Icelandic girl, lol. Music nowadays can't compare to the 70's, 80's and 90's, but here and there one finds a good artist. All the best!
@@thetedster7812 "verything you need to know about vocal technique right there" LOL technique on how to be annoying
Years ago, my Mam saw them when they played in Ireland, and according to her, everyone left afterwards chanting "Deus, Deus!"
Björk is one of the most adorable ladies to walk this earth^.^
I concur {spelling?}
Kitty Taylor I agree. She's cuter than a litter of puppies:)
agreed,.... second to Harriet Wheeler though.
No, she is THE most adorable woman to ever walk this Earth!
@@AaronHahnStudios Harriet was very cute with a similar look to Björk, but I don't think it's possible to be more adorable and cute than Björk. Have a look at this video of her talking about her TV set: czcams.com/video/75WFTHpOw8Y/video.html Hard to believe she is 23 years old here!
I love this song so much! It's so catchy and playful and weirdly wholesome and not offensive. The "he just had sideburns" always make me giggle. I love Einars speaking parts, I don't understand the haters.
Sometimes Einar is too much, sometimes Einar is just right. This is a wonderful song. One of the reasons why I still love The Sugarcubes
Listen to "Hit" by Sugarcubes, that song catches all of my Einar hate.
Love him too.
his spoken lines are clean, really clean
@@rickacton7540 Squeaky clean even
These vocals give me the chills…Bjork is otherworldly
the insane magic Bjork can do with her voice : Her style is immensely pleasurable ! Bjork's power.
Björk is so cute.
Absolutely,
And a creative force to be reckoned with!
She is deus👉 deus👉
Bjork is a genius
Bjork is life!

It's a shame that Sugarcubes doesn't exist anymore.
Yes, but they still left their mark on the music scene of those years and then it was right for Bjoerk to take off.
Go Bjoerk 👏
Amazing how such a tiny country can produce such amazing music. Something special in the ice and mineral water up there!
+Andrew Tatusko I have a theory that Icelanders, Finns and Brasilians have this secret club of inner knowledge. Like they are IN on something. They KNOW something. just a hunch.
+Vinayak Dan Victory Rose is incredible. HEIMA is the best concert film ever.
hmmm i think you've never heard of sertanejo universitario to think this good about brazil music.
Maybe the long winters help to foster a national appreciation for creative pursuits that warm the heart and bring the people together. Maybe being isolated also gives a view that if you don't participate it won't get done, so people feel more inclined to go for it.
Now we have Of Monsters and Men too!
Those “Woo-ooh”s before Einar’s vocal are just spine-tingling. ✌🏻❤️🇬🇧
Peace. Love. Britin
@@repa9132 ❤️✌🏻
It looks like Einar is joining in on that, in harmony, at 1:06.
One of my all time obscure favorites. Still connect with it after 29 years.
Oh, please. I'm so interested! Can I have some recommendation from your obscure favorites's list? please!
''Obscure''
Calling sugarcubes obscure knowing björk just feels wrong
Deus might very well not exist but it's a comfort to know that Bjork and her beautiful voice really does exist ....
What a Great voice ! From a low growl to a clean Angelic voice .Absolutely Beautiful! Love it!
Unforgettable
I've been hearing this song since 1989 until today and it always makes me happy!! Bjork is Unic !!
Finalmente, eu encontrei essa música! Procurei por décadas! Amo
@@lucianojesus9177 sabe algo do filme?
NEYMAR JR !! STOP KILLING ME IN FORTNITE PLEASE !! JONESY !!
I love this song!
I love Sugarcubes with Björk!
The Einar parts are hilarious! Squeaky clean!
what a Band They were! ! ! and I see so little recognition for Them...
One of the most gorgeous songs in history. Beautiful! Im glad I grew up listening to the Sugarcubes!!!
In the 90s and when I was still a kid it didn't occur to me she was singing about god not existing. Thought it was a silly song about an imaginary friend. Now the lyrics, "he put me in the bathtub, made me squeaky clean, really clean", sounds like a baptism to me.
Shona477 That lyric reminds me of my sister when she was TWO describing to me what her life was like living in Heaven with God, before He made her “small” & put her inside our mother’s belly. She then went on to describe being born, how there was warmth & darkness, & then she came into the light, being born. It was like she was channeling an older version of herself. The hairs on my neck stood on end, & then just as suddenly, she went back to acting like a normal 2 year old, & never spoke of it again. -That was many decades ago now, but it will stay with me for all of my days.
@@dafttool thanks for sharing this story
The weird thing is she is in a cloud at the end. Ironic?
honestly …there’s not a single song from the sugarcubes I don’t like … I love every single one
Some people feel the need to spread negativity to good music that is undeserving of a thumbs down just to spite those that are fans. But goodness is always greater than the negative. Love and Light to all.
just mistake, it happens. or vibrational frecuency. Its ok.
It only has 96 dislikes. And if anyone dislike this song it wasn't out of spite.
This song is even more badass soooo many years later.
Good times...
My uncle put me up on this when it first came out! Shouts out to you Conrad. He is super smart! Full scholarship to U of Chicago. I was 15 years old in 1988 on the northside of Chicago. Perfect area for this type of music. It's a melting pot of cultures. I love Bjork! Thank God for your hearing. Some people can't.
Bjork is the cuteness that exist beyond the cuteness.
The Sugarcubes were fantastic.
Única em seu timbre de voz!
Wonderful Sugarcubes......wonderful Bjork
Really, really unique tune here... dig it!
This song gives me certain magical feelings.
I can't believe this is 30 years old. It sounds like something you'd hear today
because music of now sounds like the 80's
It is something I heard today
Bjork's vocals can transcend generations but her bands and members change from necessity.
This is way better than what one hears today.
Comparing the quality originality and cleverness that went into music from this era to music currently being made is absurd. There is no music being made today. That sounds like it. Maybe a few years ago with the yeah yeah yeahs or St. Vincent but not now nothing. This generation tries like hell to mimic 80s spontaneity, and creativity, but they get nowhere near it.
To create a universe
You must taste
The forbidden fruit.
I understood it 100%. Nice post. Thank you.

One of the best records ever made.
I'M IN LOVE WITH BJORK SINCE LONG TIME AGO SHE'S THE QUEEN OF MUSIC FOR ETERNITY!!!!
Perfect.song and a singular, espetacular voice and performance by Bjork in her sweet young age but she has already demonstrating her talent...
Am I the only one who likes Einárs Sequences?!
I find them interesting. I love Björk and her extreme voice. Einårs details stand as a stark contrast and add an edge. I'd love to have seen how they creatively assemble their music. The collaboration always intrigues me.
Yes
I like em too! Their voices work together so well.
He wasn't that annoying on the 1st album, 2nd he practically single handled ruined the album
I agree, it makes the song complete
he just had sideburns! he just had sideburns, and a quiff!
So funny I was listening and reading comments and the side burns line came up at the same time I was reading your comment Lol 😁 BTW I used to have sideburns in the 90s.. So cool
There are a few places I’d like to visit before I shuffle off this mortal coil - and a few I’d like to visit after - but for now
Iceland is one of those destinations. With a population well under half a million and a number 1 rating on the Global Peace Index , Iceland seems an ideal destination.
I once saw Björk perform at a festival in Spain. She has an otherworldly quality like that of a benevolent imp
Icelanders seem to be a forward -thinking collective of homo sapiens , and so it seems reasonable that I would like to visit
I would also like to visit Swansea, Wales, the far reaches of South America, New Zealand and Australia and places in-between
What are your earthly destinations
Sugar cubes band (musicians) were seriously under appreciated
I love thatt half growl in her voice. Amazing
.
I will allways adore bjork music since 1989.
Simplemente dulce y diferente!!
My first time listening to this i was since i was an teen and man do i feel old ...
It's only 30ish years since they recorded this song so you're only in your mid-forties (o;þ
This song is as sinister as it gets. Euphoric bridge.

A música é linda.
Deus does not exist
But if he does, he lives above me
In the fattest largest cloud up there
He's whiter than white and cleaner than clean
He wants to reach me
[Verse 2: Björk]
Deus does not exist
But if he does I always notice him
Getting ready in his airy room
He is picking his gloves so gently off
He wants to touch me
[Post-Verse 2: Björk]
I'm walking humbly down a tiny street
Pulling my collar it gets bigger, woo!
[Spoken Word 1: Einar]
I once met him
It really surprised me
He put me in a bath tub
Made me squeaky clean
Really clean
[Bridge: Björk]
To create a universe
You must taste
The forbidden fruit
[Spoken Word 2: Einar]
He said "hi"
I said "hi"
I was still clean
[Verse 3: Björk]
Deus does not exist
But if he does he'd want to get down from that cloud
First marzipan fingers then marble hands
More silent than silence and slower than slow
Diving towards me
[Post-Verse 3: Björk]
My collar is huge room for two hands
They start at the chest and move slowly down
[Spoken Word 3: Einar]
I thought I had seen everything
He wasn't white and fluffy
He just had side burns
He just had side burns
And a quiff
He said "hi"
I said "hi"
I was still clean
I was squeaky clean
I was surprised
Just as you would be
[Outro: Einar & Björk]
Deus, Deus
Deus, Deus
(He does not exist)
What were they smoking to come up with this?
The most unique voice in rock??
***** Nope nope nope and nope u are wroooooong
***** Personal friends with the artists maybe?
Its comical that you're putting them up against Bj in any category. lol

Guys. How do ya define "Rock" first ?
Sorry about that thing calling you a name. He doesn't represent the south. Guitars and a beat right?
***** poo poo on you
Long life for BJÖRK. From Brasil
Looks like she kinda likes Brazil too, sugarcubes have the “Regina” song apparently for Elis Regina, and Björk just sing a Brazilian song, Travessia
I'm so glad this hasn't been taken down...Been jamming to it since 07'....I love you guy's...
Sugarcubes ... just love them & the diamond on vocals ... Åhhh du skisme så fantastisk Bjørk !!
Oh in the '80s in East Tennessee or anywhere else I so loved this voice and sound and song. Yes baby he exists; you wouldn't be singing about him otherwise, But I appreciate the song so much. Especially on a frightening windy night like this. Any song that contains words that I have to question myself to sing is art.
💓
Adorable! Love it!
I was planning to go to the church today, but happily Björk made me see that I was wasting my time.
+Leandro Macedo Better read non religion authors, they may help you to think more for yourself than most of the religions does. Start with Carl Sagan!! There's a very interesting documentary to see that's named Zeitgeist. Your'e gonna like It!
+Lucas Riegert I saw Cosmos and read some of his books. I also like Bertrand Russell, David Hume, Nietzsche, Steven Pinker, Sean Carroll, Isaac Asimov, Douglas Adams and many others.
I dunno, I'd want to go see God's sweet quiff and sideburns.
You take the word of a tiny rude singer for religious advice? She "made" you see? Me thinks you might be as shallow as Bjork is.
