    The career:
    Samsonov is also known as Mr. ECL (European Champions League) for participating in the tournament for at least 15 years straight and because he currently holds nine ECL winner titles - three with Borussia, five with Charleroi, and two with Fakel Orenburg. He began his European club career when he joined Borussia Düsseldorf in 1994, then seven years later moved to Royal Charleroi in Belgium. In 2008 he moved to Spain to play for Cajagranada, but two years later he moved to the Russian superleague club Fakel Orenburg.
    Samsonov is famous for being a top-10 player longer than anyone else in official ranking history save for the legend of table tennis Jan Ove Waldner. He first joined the top-10 in 1996, then climbed to the top position in 1998. He stayed in the top-10 for 15 years until November 2011. He is ranked #8 as of November 2016.

    Samsonov has such a unique palystyle. I will miss him, when he leaves the competetive envoirement.

    Пожалуй, самый недооцененный спортсмен Беларуси: до сих пор играет, число титулов неимоверное. Но раз для Лукашенко не выиграл медальку - можно его и не чествовать. Как игрок в настольный теннис (пусть и любитель) я неимоверно горд, что я белорус, а Владиатор - мой кумир навеки

    To overpower Samsonov is very difficult, to outsmart him, impossible.

    In many ways a european Wang Liquin. Or maybe the other way around? They are both very skilled in anticipating the opponent's intentions.

    Samsonov has never been a super fast player. He is a strategist. The super fast attacking style started to dominate at some point thanks to the players like zhang jike and ma long. Time Boll has somewhat adapted to it, but Samsonov has not, probably because of the age.

      @liyanma5573 Před 5 lety +3

      I would say it is more because of his height. He‘s like 6"3 tall, while Timo Boll is like 5"6 or so.

      @lucienfantke Před 2 lety +1

      @@liyanma5573 Timo is 5’11 (180cm). Height of a one factor. Age another one. More competitive table tennis these years as well.

    Sadly Samsonov has never become World or Olympic Champion in the singles.

  • @warriorson7979

    He wins like 80% of his points by just going into a forehand to backhand rally and then hitting down the line to the open court...🤔😒
    You'd think someone would've tried to counter that strategy by now.🤣🤣
