@Alexander thanks for your insight however I believe a turned spade draw that missed on the river would take a similar line. It was pretty crazy but not THAT crazy in my opinion

@Alexander There was nothing wrong with that call.
In fact, the other player is probably unlikely to even have A8 (or any other weak bare Ace) in their range-After they bet 900k into 1.2M.
Many players would never be making that big of a bet with a bare Ace (especially when their other card doesn’t play), except for maybe AK; Because there probably aren’t a ton of weaker hands-that are going to call.
A bare Ace is trying to get calls from a Queen and a 9 on that river. So why would they pot the river with an A8?
Here’s the other thing:
The other player definitely has Jacks in their range …
_What do you do if you get check raised, after potting the river with A8?_
The best hand you can have is AK, (maybe AJ) - whereas the other player has a lot of trip Jacks in their range …
Your opponent could raise literally 100% of their range, and still be profitable. All of their missed flush draws, all of their trip jacks, all of their slowplayed straights (and occasional full houses), AND …
They could turn their 9s and Qs - _the only hands you’re trying to get calls from_ - into bluffs.
They could even raise a bare Ace, knowing that the worst thing that could happen-is chopping with any Ace, except for AK.
Now, with all that in mind:
Is calling that river bet with a Queen …

that’s why the vid is called bad hero calls, bc the player assumed they were the best hand even tho they weren’t
None of those were bad beats. None of them thought they truly had the best hand either or they would have reraised.

I think the only bad call is the last one (and maybe the AJ one if your opponent is not aggressive enough). Having the 3d is bad cause you block some Kx3d Qx3d Jx3d Tx3d 9x3d your opponent could call Flop and Turn and bluff river. A hand like Ad8x would block more value than bluffs IMO and would be a better hand for a hero call.
What about the first one? She had nothing!
If you aren't seeing the other person's calls these are mostly not that bad of plays.

Sad rap will probably never be as good as it was in 08-09, but hey, you never know.

The title of this video is stupid. There was nothing wrong with most of those calls. A lot of them were heads up. I also wouldn't call any of those a hero call.
Terrible video, those were really the best examples of bad hero calls? Yeah right
Apart from the occasional “Amateur play” …
Every one of these calls was perfectly reasonable.
You must be a terrible poker player. If you play you should give up - it's not your thing
