If I may comment on Justin’s disability, God used it to draw me to Him. After someone shared a Kenneth Copeland meme in 2020, Justin Peters popped up on my feed, and his videos caught my interest. As someone who dealt with being treated a certain way with faith healers, I started listening to him. A short while later, I stopped listening, only for God to bring another person, where my eyes were opened to the deception I actually believed in without realizing. This brought about an entire journey of questioning my faith and ultimately, reading the Bible, and understanding, repenting, and believing the Gospel.

@@creativeobx8367 Basically, to explain where I was before 2020, I was in a church that was borderline hyper Charismatic, and taught some of the prosperity teaching without explicitly referring to themselves as such. At that time, I barely read the Bible, or if I did, it was for topical use and/or reading into the text. I left that church just before lockdown, and attended a church that went progressive/woke, while not being as off the rails as others. By the time my eyes were opened to realizing what I believed was deception, it took some time, but ultimately, that was when I began reading the Bible for myself and understanding what the Gospel is.

Nearly 4 years ago, The LORD used this man's ministry for me to not only hear the Gospel, but lead me to the foot of the Cross where in the midst of my suffering, I was humbled and found Mercy and Grace, and salvation in Jesus Christ. I had experienced a Godly sorrow over my sins, which produced a genuine Repentance in me as I cried out to The LORD from the depths of my wicked heart in the longest fervent prayer of my life. God gave me a new heart, with new desires, to live for Christ. The old man was crucified and buried. I became a new man in Christ Jesus. I still tear up at the thought of God's goodness when bringing up my own testimony, or hearing about other brothers and sisters. And I just know we'll all get to rejoice together and glorify God forever. I'm grateful for faithful men of The Word like brother Justin. And pray The Lord Jesus Christ continues to bless his family and ministry, and use them to reach and impact as many souls as God has ordained. For His Glory. Amen.

You can find it being mentioned in several scriptures throughout the New Testament, and the Old Testament puts a strong emphasis on faith e.g. God said that Abraham was a man of faith, and even called him righteous, even though not all of Abraham's action could be considered righteous in our eyes.
(Remember when Abraham lied and said that Sarah was his sister, out of fear that they would kill him?!)

@@aijalonnanton With all due respect, I don't believe you understand the nature of the question you answered. The question is if repentance comes from God and is dispensed at His pleasure as Calvinists claim then how can a person who desires genuine repentance receive it if he or she is not "predestined" to do so? We are motivated to save ourselves from Hell and may ask for grace for purely selfish reasons but will God honor such a request? If not, then we can only ask that He bestow upon us genuine repentance and hope that we are one of the elect because even then the request in selfish in nature. Does this comment make sense? I'm not trying to be combative; I simply want to clarify what I believe the issue is for many of us. Please respond. Thank you.

@@ErikGriffith-oo7zv hi I understood the question and felt that I responded appropriately. I am also not disputing what you are saying and there will be many who will try and be saved for selfish reasons however, that wouldn't be true repentance and that is not what the question was pertaining to. True repentance comes from a regenerative heart, and that regeneration starts from accepting Christ with the desire to serve him. Those of us who are saved, have the Holy Spirit to guide us in our daily walk, as we strive to have a relationship with God.
As I previously mentioned, John 3:16 is a true statement on salvation and the start of a wonderful journey with our Lord and Saviour ❤️

      @ErikGriffith-oo7zv Před 4 měsíci

Yes, but how can you accept Christ if you are not predestined to do so? I'm embracing the Gospel but rejecting the Calvinist undertones of the original comment to which we both responded and some of the implications of the original video. I have NOTHING but God's grace. I can never earn my salvation but I can choose God's grace even for selfish reasons because He will even forgive me despite the mixed motives I may have for asking for said forgiveness. None of us are as sorry as we should be when we come to Christ but He embraces us just the same. Then, under His grace and the Spirit's guidance, we finish the race set before us. I think you and I are on the same page but are perhaps talking around each other. I blame myself for this situation especially given the difficulty in conveying nuanced ideas via short on-line comments and the fact that my initial tone was perhaps inadvertently caustic. I appreciate your response as requested and apologize for the delayed response on my end. Have a great day! @@aijalonnanton

Wow ... what a great testimony! I couldn't understand my sorrow and assurance of salvation that existed at the same time. I couldn't figure out why I was so grieved by so many things, while never doubting my salvation at the same time. Those two things didn't seem to go together, but it makes perfect sense now. I can't wait share this with others.

I also grew up Southern Baptist, made a confession of faith as a young kid and I knew something wasn't right either. At 19, God broke my heart over my sin and there was genuine repentance. For the first time, the Word of God became precious to me and I feasted on it daily. As I started reading it for myself, I saw discrepancies between what I was hearing in the pulpit and what I was reading. Eventually, I came to realize I had seen the truth of reformed doctrine in the pages of scripture. That understanding has only increased over the years. For me, what I am grieved over is the the false understanding that Jesus died for everyone's sins and yet people still go to Hell because they didn't choose Him. Whether they mean it or not, they are implying that the precious blood of Jesus was wasted on someone whom He still wasn't able to save. That grieves me so much. A song from the 90's band Third Eye Blind would seem to agree with this theological view. The song is called "! Want You". The lyrics say "The village church yard is filled with bones weeping in the grave, The silver lining of clouds shines on people Jesus couldn't save..." When I first heard this song I knew something was wrong but I didn't have the theological understanding to counter it. By God's Grace now I do.

    Adam chose,
    Noah chose,
    Abraham chose,
    Moses chose,
    Joshua said CHOOSE!
I’m glad Todd and Justin Chose,
The OT teaches choice,The NT, teaches choosing,
    John 3:16 says Whosoever WILL.
God is definitely Sovereign but also gives us the ability to choose Christ.
Gods WILL, is for ALL! to be Saved.
    The Bible teaches.
    It always puzzled me

Yep free will repenting from sin and seeking to live righteous lives is the least we can do for God paying for our way, and it also shows that the Holy Spirit is in us, giving us the desires to seek righteousness. repenting doesn't earn us salvation, but sin can get us thrown out. Its not that hard really.
You could be as good as you can, but you still could never reach salvation, thats why God purchased us with His blood.

      @serve-Christ Před 6 měsíci

@@JessCGrants when God told Moses, to make the brass serpent and put it upon a pole, the people were told to look upon it (an act of the will).
We can shake our fists at God, He doesn’t make us robots, He gives each his will to choose to serve Him.
God DOES NOT CHOOSE HELL FOR SOME.
The Bible says it is not His WILL, that any, should be lost.
But that all Should come to repentance.
The line between Gods Sovereignty, and the will He gave us, is invisible to some.
The Bible teaches God has predestined those who are conformed to the image of His Son, to be saved.
Those who choose Christ sincerely, are predestined to go to Heaven. ✝️

This sounds just like me right now. Friends, please pray for me. I do not have a desire to seek God, nor spend continual time in prayer, nor have I stopped loving things of the world, nor am I obedient to God's word, and nor has my repentance been genuine because I keep willfully indulging the same sin again and again.
I have been through believer's baptism, I do serve minor roles in the local church, and I do serve once a week in the community for the poor and needy. But I do not have blessed assurance of saving faith.
I don't want to die and go to hell, I don't want to live in disobedience to God, and I want to take joy in the powerful spiritual experiences of other believers -- experiences that I have never had but for which I wish I did.
    Please pray for me.

    Thanks Justin,
Many of us struggle with the paradoxes of faith that prevent us from feeling child-like Victory. "Live in the World but not of it"/ "Boat in the water but not the water in the boat." I gravitate to pastors who dig deep into these paradoxes ( e.g., Tim Keller). I need to hear more from you too. Blessings truly.
