Great video!!! I am glad Marshall spoke about the meeting between Rex and the Colonel. Elvis clearly saw Rex as a man with great business talent and I believe Elvis wanted the Colonel to be impressed with Elvis's judgment and selection of Rex as possibly the top employee in the Elvis side of the organization. The Colonel basically told Rex he, too, could see Rex had skills and the potential to develop those skills through his own energies beyond any role Elvis could offer. At the same time, the Colonel, in what appears to be one of the very few instances currently available to Elvis fans, tells Rex what he thinks of Elvis's other employees. Lots of the guys have written or spoken about their feelings towards the Colonel and how they perceived the Colonel felt about them, but the Colonel refrained from stating return opinions in public. In this private moment with Rex, the Colonel states the others cannot succeed without Elvis or someone to guide and care for them. Who exactly is the Colonel talking about? Most likely Lamar Fike, Gene Smith, Junior Smith, and maybe Red West. At the time Colonel made this statement to Rex, he had not really met or had time to evaluate Joe Esposito or Charlie Hodge. It is also interesting to consider why did the Colonel tell Rex what he did? Was he flattering Rex in an attempt to dissuade him from joining Elvis as such a capable individual with a mind of his own might create issues between Colonel and Elvis? Colonel detractors would certainly think so. Or was the Colonel truly impressed with Rex, and by extension Elvis's judgment, and he was stating the honest truth of the situation as he saw it? Or is it possible Colonel was aware of Elisabeth and her relationship with Elvis and with Rex and he was facilitating a quick solution to a future fiasco? It does not seem possible he did, but he was the Colonel...
The Colonel was sharp so it could be any of those or all..

It's fascinating to me how so many Elvis fans cannot stand to hear truth about him unless it is positive..... Truth fears no questions no matter the subject.... Question everything....the fact that he had flaws like everyone and some are not afraid to investigate and acknowledge this defines genuine realistic integrity and true respect!
I sure wish this book was in print. Fascinating couple, Rex and Elisabeth.

Interesting discussion today, the pill issue starting in the late 50's corresponds with Anita Wood's book where she states Elvis had a safe in the boot of his car containing them. On one of her dates with Elvis, she talks about Elvis stopping at a pharmacist and putting pills in this safe. The movie of course also shows Elvis in a car in the late 50's taking some sort of pill that someone gives him and I believe Scotty Moore's book also talks about it too. I don't have that book anymore so can't look that up. Seemingly the pill issue actually started before the army, but the dependency may have gotten a little worse if Elisabeth Stefaniak brought them back for him from Germany. The inference is clearly that if Elisabeth brought them back for Elvis, Elvis knew they were illegal in unprescribed quantities. Would be curious to know what those pills were. Were they all uppers? Or were their qualuudes and what not, these were popular back then.
Loving the videos! Def looking to get the new Colonel book. I like learning about Elvis and it’s really interesting to learn about his relationship with The Colonel. A lot of people dislike The Colonel but he was human, he did good, he did bad.
Had a question unrelated to The Colonel though lol I’ve been wondering did Elvis still rehearse with his band in the mid to late 70’s?
We know he did in the early 70’s from footage but what about 75, 76, 77?

Elvis movie popped up on Netflix. Watched last night fell asleep in Germany. The Priscilla actress looked 25 wonder why? .😂 No way Lisa liked that movie NO FRICKIN WAY! Garbage and i watched not even half?
When it came to women ,Elvis was a selfish kid in a candy store. No female would or could control him. i think and my personal favorite Anita wood understood, and knew exactly who and what Elvis was. She's the only one JMO that could have had that relationship where other women were on the side. She'd used it to here advantage. All Elvis women were beautiful but Anita and Diana Goodman ar often overlooked. Priscilla wasn't even top 10 JMO.
