I always hear this not-so-fun fact and it makes me so sad. As a teenage girl, my friends and I all loved this movie so much and loved Amanda Byne's in it! Quoting it constantly. Her comedic timing is unbeatable.

That's so awful that she felt that! Not that it means anything, but I had such a crush on both drag & non-drag Amanda as a tween 😅
She already had an eating disorder which developed due to comments by her mother, was physically comparing herself to her contemporaries constantly, and then this movie came along and added gender dysphoria on top. She was already insecure about not looking as feminine as her peers and then had to dress up as and later watch herself playing a boy.
I truly hope she's doing better now, and I think people need to leave her alone instead of judging her appearance even more.

this movie made me a) a lesbian, b) non-binary, and c) amanda bynes' biggest fan. shakespeare stuff is fun bc literally every character that doesn't suck is bisexual/gay AND trans and anyone who disagrees is welcome to fight me! also idk if y'all have seen "whip it", but it starred elliot page and it had a similar effect on me. so many of the "not like other girls" movies made me beyond angry as a kid bc they always ended up w some dude, but i think channing tatum would have been gay for sebastian regardless. the classic lit/shakespeare teen movie renaissance was so good!! also, this was such a good combo of people. hope you're all doing well :)

So let me just say, I grew up very sheltered and in a religious home, and as a baby gay and baby trans dude, this movie along with Mulan, was my only frame of reference for who I was. I couldnt have access to knowledge about trans people, but a bootleg copy of this movie kept me going. I was obsessed, and didn't know I was trans at the time, just knew something about AFAB people dressing up as boys/men just gave me so much dopamine.

In the special features they explain that Eunice was originally going to have a much smaller role, but when she said the line "I'm going to be the best lab partner you've ever had." The director told the writers to fit her in as much as they could. Also yes, the black friend was into her the whole time, if you ever watch it again keep an eye on him and you will see him longing for her from the background all the way through the film.
Not only is Channing one of the best looking actors in Hollywood, he’s from my hometown and just a really cool and nice dude. His parents are best friends with one of my college friend’s parents and the only thing I ever hear about him is how much he does for them and truly humble he is. He should be at the top of anyone’s celebrity crush list.
