Very cool! I would recommend a bar over a blade or disc, with the amount of vertical spinners out there, an uppercut is very likely as you have a fairly slow drive. With a quicker drive you could steer out of trouble as 90% of winning is control.
This 2 part series came up when I searched for "how to build a battlebot" great content and delivery. I can see this channel grow way past 15K subs
Thank you so much! i'm glad you liked it! :D
This was really helpful. I started designing my own after I saw this vid.😀
Really cool bot, i am probably going to make a similar one myself😀buuut this thing is like the cheapest design i could find and its still like 150-200.- this is quite the pricey hobby😅
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks
Once you get the smaller nut, I would run it upside down so it is more like a undercutter and is harder for wedges to wedge you. You will also be able to undercut wheels way better.
very true! That how i'm hoping to drive it!
@@MechNinji How did you set up the servos as a drive train in your 150 gram version? Mine won't turn continuously to drive.
I'm using a Fs t6 transmitter
First time tuning in in a while! And you grew a beard wow. Glad to be back!
oh wow! Well welcome back! Im glad to have you! :D
3 years? Don't matter, this is still sick nonetheless 🤙
Amazing! Thank you!✋😊
Amazing job, man! Really great bot! :D
Thank you so much! Im glad you like it! :D
Hey, you should make a video on how to setup the remote and transmitter you had purchased for your bot. We had purchased the same one and can’t quite get the correct setup.
Can you go into more detail of how you sautered the escs to the motor and connecting the battery inputs?
cool this could be my start to building the RED DEVIL
He can you show/tell how you connected everything, i never did the wiring for a battlebot before and it would help if i knew where the battery is connected to
I know this is like a year later, but I'm also having the same issue... Did you ever figure it out? if so can you please please please share your knowledge?
Hey man! What type of control did you use? Also, where can I find it? I plan on building this bot, but not for fighting sense it’s my first one I’m actually building from scratch. Thanks in advance!
Great video man
Thank you! :D
can a 7.4V lipo battery supply a 3 dc motor w/ esc. that has total weight of 3kg(including chassis and other stuff in my battlebot) ? thanks for the reply
Hello! I know im kinda late since this video was uploaded in 2018 but I want to make my first battlebot this summer. I was just wondering how much it would cost to make the bot you made in this video?
where do you plug in your esc´s
How I connect the gear motor to the brushed esc??
How did u conected 2 ESCs into a batery ?
This is so cool!!!
Thank you!
This is lots of fun! Your mini killer-bot looks great - I was wondering about the durability of the paint finish, though. As you've used transparent lexan for the bodywork, would spraying the inside surfaces have given better protection? You'd have got a custom car 'deep lacquer effect' for free. ;-) Of course you'll have had good reasons for finishing it the way you have, I'd just hate to see that lovely purple-orange [purange? orrple?] scratched. It deserves to survive - purange is way too cool for combat!
Those batteries and radio transmitters are expensive. Are there any cheap substitutes I can use?
what are the dimensions of the motor housings???
How u conected the weapon esc into the batery ?
Hey what did you use for the recievers?
How exactly did you wire the esc's i have the same esc and confused on how/what wires to solder onto motor and to connect to battery.
I actually have a video about that! :D czcams.com/video/cGtsXMkWMSo/video.html
Want to make a 15kg version of it. Will need huge upgrades. From steel armour to bigger blade and powerful motors. Any 3D model available that might help us?
what do you use for a receiver
Hey which receiver did you use I saw that it was a spektrum but couldn’t make out the model
The one I used in this video was a spektrum dxe, However I don't recommend it. The Skyfly Fs I6 is a LOT cheaper and can do a LOT more in terms of robots. :)
Mechanical Ninjineer ah ok thank you so much
If you have a smaller blade, it rotates faster.
Also this is designed kind of like tombstone, I like it!!!
And finally, can you make other bots?
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! And yes, iv actually uploaded several different video about different battlebots! :)
Where did you buy the weapon motor?
how do you do to plug the 2 esc
plz im cant now
also. what did you use to attach the wheels to thr motor housings
A great thing you can use for that are hubs. There are alot of different versions however 3mm universal mounting hubs should work just fine for n20 motors ( the drive motors i used in this video) :)
keep this vid up also last one
can i use 3s 11.1v battery on 2 brushed drive esc 4-8v?
I made a bot with a DC Motor, a huge clip, and a battery for the base of it. I used the DC Motor with a wedge shape piece to hit against the clip and shake. It shakes in a circle so it wouldnt stay in one place. The bot has a blade on the end of it to jam wheels, or cut or scratch if driven into. It’s basically a minibot that auto-pilots.
Im not 100% sure what you mean, but it sounds really cool!
Mechanical Ninjineer lol thanks!
How are you controlling it
?
Hey a built a bot just like this thanks, I'm having an issue with the bolt staying on the motor for the spinner. Do you have thoughts?
Hey man, I’m building this bot too. Is it the little cap piece that slides onto the brushless motor that’s sliding off?
Hey I’m very late to this video but what did you use to bolt the blade down
any chance updated link for Drive Motor ESC :3
what type of receiver is it?
Good Bro !!
Thanks! :D
How many Volt have the receiver?
Hey what pcb did u use for this ? Did you get it from an rc car of something like that ? If so can you give me the link please i have al the parts but no circuit board and since i dont know much about rc stuff i could realy use your advice . Anyway Thnx in advance
I just use the "sky fly Fs I6" transmitter. It only cost about $50 AND that includes the receiver! I love mine! :D
im making this bot as a project, is their anyway to hace the blae in a different postion? Low instead of high?
You're asking if there's a way to mount the blade lower? No, not really. However you could mount the motor upside-down which in turn would make the blade alot lower. That is probably your best bet OR you could make a vertical spinner. :)
How did you fit the battery in there, it looked so crammed even without it
It was snug but it actually wasn't too tight once I put the smaller esc's in the corner. :)
Thank you man thinking of getting my son in to it
You're welcome! I am so happy to hear that! :D
Dad is that you
I wanna build a robot, but I'm always wondering about the remote that controls the robot. How do you get one of these?
this is the one I use and it works great! :D this is an affiliate link amzn.to/2qc32V3
is it possible to switch saw to a spinner similair to the one tombstone had
Of course! You'll just need a bar! :)
Maybe with that extra weight, try using a 3530 motor as it has a 5mm shaft and won't explode first hit like that 2826.
Sweet
How did u attach the battery
Where to buy all the stuff
Good bot
I love this tutorial it’s one of the better one’s on youtube, but i had two questions
How does the robot go left and right because it has no servo’s and what channels on your receiver do you use for the blade and the motors?
No, i don't use any servos in this bot however i do have two geared dc drive motors (N20s) That I use. They work great you just of course have to run them through ESCs. Servos typically aren't used for drive motors in anything larger then 150 gram bots because they aren't really built too well for it.
As for channels, it will depend on your setup, but i use 1 and 2 (mixed) for drive and 3 for weapon. :)
Ty i am going to build this one myself. Kust need a cheap rc tranmitter and reciever and rhen i'm all set
I know i'm late to this but i hope you can reply. I'm trying to build a bot of my own and i wanted to get those esc's and use the same battery as yours but i couldnt help but notice the battery is a 3s lipo and the drive esc is rated at 2s lipo. Is it still ok to run this or did it fry your esc's?
Great question! Since the voltage difference is within like 1.5ish volts it was totally fine. ESCs are almost always rated slightly lower for safety reasons. So if you do go against their recommendations you do so at your own risk.
With the being said though i didn't test this bot much outside of this video so idk how it reforms long term. BUT i did use the same exact setup in a lifter bot, same bat, same ESCs, same drive motors (actually plus 2 more) the only thing that changed was the brushless motor, i replaced it with a large servo. I fought with that robot and had zero problems.
So short answer, if you can find 3s ESCs you like, GO FOR IT! that would be best! But if not, to the best of my knowledge these will work just fine. Just make sure not to leave the battery plugged in untended, but that goes for any and every robot. :)
@@MechNinji Thanks this helps alot :)
I Like It! :)
Thanks! I'm glad to hear it!
Gonna try to make this and then strap an fpv cam to this bad boi
can you make a vid of the same bot in a larger scale plz
Cool man
Thanks!
It seems like the drive motor ESC link is broken. Could you recommend another one?
www.ebay.com/itm/RC-ESC-20A-Brush-Motor-Speed-Controller-w-Brake-for-RC-Car-Boat-Tank/332357822669?hash=item4d6211e8cd:g:6PEAAOSwSypY9yNN i found it on ebay and it was the exact same name as the old one, just a different listing
I got all the components but I need help Right now, please, I have a competence.
I don't know how to connect the ESC brushless (red ones) to the battery and the motor.
And all the components to the battery.
Please help.
I actually just put out a video about ESCs :) czcams.com/video/38LL_vHCpn8/video.html
Hi,
Can i use a different battery because it doesnt ship to where i live
Also one more thing, can i use a different motor to make the weapon spin??
ik it been like 4 years but is there any way you could send new links some of the old ones do not work
thank you
you're welcome! :D
What is the speed of A2212 brushless motor, 1000KV or 2200KV?
The link to eBay doesn’t work can someone tell me how to get it
how how to control it via rc?
I have a question will it work if I use four motors and a weapon and in use four speed controllers instead of 2 with a five channel receiver and use the fifth slot for the weapon motor. Thanks for any help
Yes, that is possible! However you can actually get away with 3 ESCs and a 3 channel receiver. Two ESCs, for the 4 drive motors, and 1 ESC for the weapon motor (assuming you're not using a servo, because a serve doesn't need an ESC). Give me a sec and i'll drop a link to 2 of my videos that should help! :)

Your bot battled peanut butter and actually took some damage😆
Go lil dude
haha!
Can you give the link to the transmitter/receiver you used
This is an affiliate link but here it is! :D Transmitter : amzn.to/2qc32V3
Where exactly to do u connect the gear motors to the esc wires
Where do u solder it to
Im so sorry, im not sure if I understand the question... But the brushed motor will have two leads that you'll solder to the two output leads of your brushed ESC. Does that help?
Mechanical Ninjineer thanks that helps
Is it remote controled robot?
May we use any flysky transmitter
Yeah, that's what I use now. LOVE it! :D
Did you use 12 volt or 6 volt for the drive motors?
I believe i used 12v motors for this bot. However i currently use larger 6v motors for my other 1lb.
What type of receiver did you use
This is the one I use, its not very expensive but I LOVE it! This is an affiliate link by the way Transmitter : amzn.to/2qc32V3
what charger do you need for battery?
I cant find the link but its just a cheap multivolt charger I bought on ebay! :)
You have ready robot? In running condition.
Yes, I actually have a few bots in finished condition! :)
Could you please put the link on how to make the controller? Cause i really want to make this bot
I just use the "sky fly Fs I6" transmitter. It only cost about $50 AND that includes the receiver! I love mine! :D
AND! How many different main batteries will I need? How long does just one battery last?
The Robot will only need one battery in it at a time, however you will want spares. As for how long it lasts that depends on what kind and size of motors you're using and what size battery. For me, the battery i used lasted about 4 or 5mins on a single charge in my bot. :)
that is the reason why airplanes have round windows, that corner is built in weakness that is the reason why it brok there
Where did u get the metal spinner from ???
Like i said in the video, Loews. But just about any hardware store should have grinder blades. :)
1:08 nice plugging battery animation.
haha! :D
It's one of those things that is just too randomly well done to comprehend :D
what controller are you using???
I'm using a spectrum DXE however if I were to do it over I would buy a programmable trans. :)
where can i get a receiver that responds to a remote control? do i tear apart any ol' useless rc car and get a receiver there?
You're trying to get a toy grade transmitter to talk to a toy grade receiver? Well they will have to be the same frequancy. Or you could just buy a hobby grade trans and reciever for $45. Heres a link for the one that i use. This is an affilate link Transmitter : amzn.to/2qc32V3
how do you control the bot when you are finished?????????????
You control it through the Transmitter. The transmitter then translates your desired movement to the receiver which in turn tells the robot. :)
amazon has the battery unavailable what battery would you suggest now???
Any battery that is the same voltage and has the same mah will be fine. If that particular seller is out, you can usually scroll to the bottom of the page and see similar results.
Can I put a 6,5 Volt receiver in the bot?
Most receivers can run with 4.8v to about 6v provided to it. But if you do have a 6.5v receiver that's fine, you'll just need a 6.5v BEC.
Your definitely improving a lot with your designs. Just a few things, you give glue too much credit, most likely your chassis will shatter when hit with another spinner, also while the glue isn’t holding the blade it’s holding it centered and it could shift and cause the blade to become unbalanced. Also your motor is fine, the smaller you go the smaller the shaft your motor has which is important. And last thing, you have 50g to spare so protect your wheels because they micro gear motors are pretty brittle. But besides that great job!
Team Tanto Robotics Haha! Nah, the whole bot, glue and all is incredibly strong. Iv done quite exstisive strenght testing on it. And as for the blade as I explained in the video the glue only holds it until you bolt it down. Once properly bolted the blade won't move, not even if the glue wasn't there. And you can actually buy smaller outrunner motors with the same shaft thickness as this one has. However you are correct the motors shaft thickness does matter a lot, because the blade is only as strong as the motor it is bolted to is. :)
All the glue is for is holding the washers in place until the clamping force of the prop adapter can hole everything together with friction.
Hey Mechanical Ninjineer! I am 14 years old and I'm building my first ever bot based off of your design (with a few tweaks), but instead of cutting out the pieces of lexan and gluing them together like you did in your video, I cut the all the shapes as one flat piece and used a heat gun to bend the parts into place. Unfortunately this caused the bottom piece to warp, and I was wondering if you knew of any ways to keep this from happening. Thanks for any advice!
Yes, I have actually done that! Here is a video I made about it! I hope it helps! :D
dang it... I forgot to add the link... hahaha! czcams.com/video/c6k6MsTE6JI/video.html
I actually went back to welding the frame together with lexan solvent after that video because I found it easier. Here's a video about how the welded frame held up. skip to the end to see it get hit by saws. czcams.com/video/4IZX0aw94IM/video.html
Thanks!
:)
great vidio, but you didn't show the links
They should all be in the description
are those big hits coming from the gaps between the saw? also, have you ever tried using foamboard?
Yes, they are from the teeth on the blade. Using foam board for the body? I don't think it would stand up very well.
Mechanical Ninjineer I'm trying to make one out of foamboard right now. mainly because it's light. and I have plenty of it.
That would be interesting. Are you build a drone battlebot?
Mechanical Ninjineer no. a dustpan based on a design. on a smaller scale. and changed in some areas
Spoiler alert. It never went well. Went 0:2. However i am trying to remake it. Yay
I need a Wire diagram please!!
RIP Chuck Wagon
hahaha!
willem - Heck yeah! ♬"No wheels on mah wagon, ♪An' I'm not rollin' along..."
could i get away with using a cheaper transmitter? could i take one out of an old RC car?
First comment this is great!
You should drill out the blade except for the edges to save weight. You could also add more weight to the edges so that it hit's with more power. The blade weight is more efficiently used if it is on the dgees.
That sound like a good idea! Im just a little hesitant to drill into it because it is so easy to throw off the balance and weight of the blade.
That is true.
