    You have a knack, Mike, of demystifying things, of sorting out what folks (like me, anyway) need to know without drowning the viewer in details. I was thinking about getting a PR4 and JMRI software, now, thanks to this video....I'm going to proceed. Thanks

    Thx for the Video for Programming Track with PR3/4. I have a PR4. Like your setup and will take it under advisement. Appreciate you taking us thru the various pages of JMRI. I have used JMRI at the Club to add my Locos to the Roster and change the Address to my Club Designated prefixes. But that was over a year ago now, so I am setting up my own Program Track and add all my 35 Locos to the Roster at home. Keep up the good work. Appreciate your humour and advice to leave well enough alone.....

    Thanks for the informative video Mike. I too have played around with JRMI and find it way more involved than I need. This is a great program for speed matching and other more advanced functions. I use the Broadway limited handheld programmer to do basic loco road number changes and simple CV programming. As they say “keep it simple”. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work. Bob

    Mike you make it look easy, JMRI can do a lot more but should mention programming with it us a lot easier than programming CV's through it your throttles and it is worthwhile learning how to do it if you want to have your engines to run good together. I looked and there are a lot of CZcams videos you can watch even on JMRI web site, I lI'mke the set up you show & thanks for sharing....Jack you take a lot of the mystery out of it!

    Hi Mike, Perfect timing on this video as I've been thinking about getting a PR3 and JMRI to program locomotives on my Digitrax system. The most important part is the CAT mouse pad, that is very funny but I have to disagree. The most important mouse pad to have is the "Cass Scenic Railroad" mouse pad with the picture of Shay #5 :-) One thing to add, those of us, myself included who have programmed for years using the Digitrax DT100 throttle, have most of the CV numbers memorized. So the section at timestamp 35:47 is not scary for me and quite honestly when I get my PR4 with the JMRI software, that maybe the tab I use most often. Thanks again Mike for this video, it did answer a lot of questions I had concerning the PR4 and JMRI software. Cheers, Rich S.

    Hi Mike - I admire your creativity; you must have come up with over a dozen ways to say "I dunno" or "Beginners may safely ignore this tab." ;-) Other than that nit, good job of providing a starting place for folks who need a bit of basic introduction.

    • @inohky716
      @inohky716 Před 6 lety

      Point is JMRI has a Throttle option in the same software but you do not want to use it to test the decoder function on the test track if the Pr4 is not hooked to a loco net as a interface for the computer using it as a stand alone programmer without being hooked to the loco net and a power sorce it will burn it up if you try to test the decoder functions so only test them on the layout after you have set them

    • @southernnewmexiconscalersn4708
      @southernnewmexiconscalersn4708 Před 6 lety

      I got the point but have never heard of that. We have never been able to use the JMRI throttle to test stand alone.

    Hi Mike, having issues with JMRI. I have a Digitrax DCS210 Command Station, PR4 Seems there is something missing as I get "Failed to get response from Command Station. My program track is wired to my command station, is powered and standalone. My PR4 is connected via USB, and I have a standard phone cable between my PR4 and the DCS210. What am I missing??
