- My buddy Brad Moore of @mountainsmoore3657 invited me to join him on this year's Ag Teacher Trip. We floated the 5-mile Paint Rock River with Paint Rock Canoe & Kayak in Paint Rock Alabama.
Thanks for joining us, Dan. I think that everyone really enjoyed it, even with the really low water and all of the debris brought about by all of the spring floods. It was a pretty good workshop, learning about "The Delicate Balance of Agriculture and Ecology Along the Paint Rock River Watershed" and how the farmers and foresters of Jackson County are working so hard to protect the river that flows past their homes. Glad that you tagged along with us again this year.
Always a great time and always enjoy learning and watching others learn about our waterways and the importance of protecting these resources. And again, much appreciation to our educators!!!!
Pretty typical summer levels. Good job. Thanks for sharing.
Yep, getting low around here!! Thanks, bro!!
Looks so peaceful! I've never been on Paint Rock, but it's in the list! Thanks for sharing. 🛶🛶🛶🛶🛶🛶
Thank you!! You'd love it, Dewey! There's lots of shade, so it's a great summertime float!!!
The amount of debris and trees down is unreal. I've never seen the river look so bad. Great video .
The shock of heavy rain to drought this year and last is going to produce a lot of downed trees sadly. The water levels are noticeably low too.
The condition of the Paint Rock seems pretty indicative of what we're seeing elsewhere in North Alabama.
That's what I've been saying!!! BLAHAHAHAHA! Inside joke, Dan. I'll tell ya about it next time we get together!
I agree! I know it's tough keeping it clear, but this is the most I've seen in the water since coming here.
LOL- got it! :D
Cant wait to see your WOR videos
Thank you! I'm hoping to have it ready next Saturday (20th), although I'm kicking around the idea of doing a live premier with chat. We'll see.
Looks like another great trip, Dan.
Thanks, John! It was nice, relaxing float!!
Hi Dan, nice paddling trip! Teacher David
Hey David! Thanks so much, brother!! That's awesome that you're a teacher! So is my sister!!
Hello Dan Happy 4th of July to you and your family man. I hope you enjoyed it with your family and friends man. Look like a nice float man. I saw how narrow it got man. Just wide enough for your kayak 🛶 only. ( WOW ) nice AG Teacher Group man. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this & i hope you are having a good weekend buddy. Stay safe out there on the water buddy.
Hope you and your fam had a great 4th! Yes, this is a small river, but that's part of what makes it fun...and helps keep it shaded which is nice this time of year!!
Great video, as always! Thanks, Dan!
Thanks so much, Jared! That was a great trip!!
Saw the RK live stream. Am impressed you made Nantahalia falls and most of all sect 9 FB. Frank Bells always makes me nervous. Been going up to Hot Springs to paddle since the late 70s. Saw Wades video of the Ocoee with RKs and you sitting on the bridge. What all did you paddle WORs?
Thank you- that was a really fun week. The FB was only at 1100 last week and it was over 3000 on the camping trip, so a big difference. I got to shuttle Wade and Matt Wallin on the Ocoee and Matt again on the Upper Nanty- really cool guys!! I sat out the bigger runs, but I did the lower Nanty, the Tuckasegee and FB9. They also did the middle (I think) Ocoee, the Cheoah (elf) and the upper Nanty (Matt ran the Cascades). It was all a blast!!
