    Our own interest?? Seriously??
Do you even know how we tried to nurture democracy in Afghanistan after US destroyed it in the war with Taliban and Al Qaeda. After war Afghanistan’s economy collapsed, there was virtually no infrastructure left. But even then India was committed to lift them up again and to give them the right of self determination. We built a parliament in Afghanistan and you can understand the significance of it in a democracy. Creating roads, dams, schools, hospitals and providing scholarships to students to study in India, we tried almost everything.
Yeah we do had our interest in it - we want peace in the world as we believe that the world is one family.
Let me give you another example of our self interest.
Before 1947, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were used to be a single country - India. British left and divided us into India and Pakistan. We never complained. We were happy in our own world ...as always.
But then the West Pakistan started their atrocities on their own country man of East Pakistan. Millions of Bengali Muslims were murdered and raped by Pakistan’s army. India couldn’t see that happening on the people who, for many many years used to be our own, and then out of frustration we sent our own Army inside the East Pakistan and liberated them. Had we wished we could have captured the East Pakistan and would have merged them with India itself. After all that piece of land also belonged to India right?
But instead we chose to give them the right of self determination - democracy. Helped them to built themselves again. Look at them now, they are beating us in GDP growth rate. Little bastards (that’s pun ;-) ). They are almost entirely surrounded by us only, but they never felt threatened. That’s how much we are committed to other countries.
But we have learnt from our oppression now. We have been divided once, now we are not even going to give an inch of our land to anyone. It’s better Pakistan understand it well.

The biggest problem with India is not alone to blame their recent past of invasions but this irresponsible, casual attitude of the people towards their ownself.
India definitely WAS once a role model for the world, but yes you are right, not anymore. India still has that essence prevailing in their roots which can easily be revived yet again, brought to life and relived in our lifestyles.
In this recent UN meet India was the ONLY country to talk about universal peace and stressed on universal brotherhood and received appreciation globally. But within the country itself we Indians are busy in regional, religious and cultural clashes and some serious social issues.
Ancient Indian culture and lifestyle WAS incredible, it WAS an eternal bliss. Why we should not admit we have almost lost it?

    • @divyasingh6175

It's easy to assume the past as being perfect, referring to your statement about Ancient Culture. We have evolved and abolished a lot of practices that were considered "norm" in the past, and will have to continue to improve and evolve, like every other nation. That aside, the fact that our philosophy of tolerance and co-existence does resonate even today, which is the reason why we are able to, more or less, co-exist quite peacefully despite our diversity not just in regions and religions, but even in our ideologies...

Yes it's true that India doesn't try to take credit of many of its contributions and go modest by calling it simple or little. Example I recall-- Remember last year in Thailand (or was it Indonesia) when 13 children and their football coach were stuck inside a cave when it got flooded. It had made a big news for many days as the whole world was praying for their safety and many were offering help of sorts. Army there were trying to pump out water from cave but it was failing to do so. That time India had sent its high power pumps designed for coal mines and made by Indian company "Kirloskar" along with 3 engineers and hydrologists of this company by chartered flight. They reached on the cave and successfully pumped out water fast to the extant to enable army to go inside and reach to children. Rest we all know.

But the aid our region receives from the central government wasn't even the tenth of what bihar received. It was all over newspapers and media channels here. It is absolutely true that the centre picks and chooses which states it wants to be generous to. Plenty here are furious at the bjp government for
      a) trying to construct dams in highly earthquake prone region such as ours

Comparison of north east states with bihar is not fair, first of all consider the area of Bihar, secondly population, third the floods in bihar were way more worse than any other states in India and also the spreaf of diseases they had to go through. Bihar is comparatively a poor state economically. The media and news papers you are talking about, common man, no one is a kid here, everyone knows that they are influenced by communists. I do agree that in some matters we don't give north eastern states the attention and importance they deserve. Like we don't promote tourism, culture, festivals, sports, etc. You have given amazing sports players to this country especially in football and this fact is not that widespread but not the matter of aid. Rick and Korbin, i never write comments on youtube but I wanted to on this one. Kashmir is a 72 year old problem. Reading the western media reports and noise made by Pakistan is not the true picture. I would recommend you reading up on the history, information warfare of Pakistan (result of which you read in the media), and how quiet and tolerant India has been so far. Also, read the UN resolution that Pakistan talks about but seems like it hasn't read, because the first requirement in it was for Pakistan to demilitarize PoK which it never did. It's a very complicated issue with thousands dying evry decade as a result of terrorism. There are kashmiri muslims like Ibn Sina and Imtiyaz Hussain on twitter who give the real picture. Read what they say, they share videos everyday on traffic and how there's no curfew in over 90% of the state now. Even now, everyday, our armed forces are shooting down terrorists at the border that are trying to infiltrate. Its different to live with it every single day and India has been doing it forever. It's high time we took a strong stand against terrorism and that's what we did. Ladakh wanted to be a union territory forever because they wanted development. Its only the kashmir valley that has the Pak sponsored goons that threaten and instigate young impressionable minds to retaliate. The mature public understands that this will bring progress, improve women rights that they didnt have before. Pakistan has an issue because it removes the ease with which they could terrorize the state. Not one bullet has been fired in the last 2 months in the valley! There's so much more to this, but India doesn't spend money on propoganda so you don't hear the "sensationalized" news.

Americans talk shit about Trump all the time, even in the media and no one cares. Talk shit about Modi once, and then see this intolerant result. There are still many areas we need an improvement in.

Yes Mr. Segall we are not a perfect country and like any other country we have our own challenges which we indians are very much aware of and are willing to work towards it but your comments like India has "always" taken decisions on its selfish intesrests is a sweeping statement and clearly reflects that it has been made without doing proper homework or an objective research. I wish Mr. Segall would have made an attempt to understand and reflect more before coming up with these kind statements but if he wants to see India only through a bubble then his choice.

Yes it's true that kashmir has been a bigger issue for last few months. And Indian government is not ready to talk about it, but before getting into any point please have a complete knowledge about why and from where the conflict has arrived !
What ever is happening now are just because some of our great politicians had made some stupid decisions in the past and allowed our country to devide on the besis of religion, and gave some special status which lead to more complications and now what we can see?? Hindus who were once the majority in kashmir have been completely washed away by rape and murder and the government didn't took any actions against it to stop and now the muslims from the kashmir they are not ready to stay with India.
Its like you allow someone to stay in your house and give him a status and now he is throwing you out from your own house!! Its been a hight of tolerance, and now this government is trying to clean those shits which the previous governments had made. Nothing special has been done the status has been revoked which was holding back the rest of the states to invest on kashmir own property and live there.... India is filled with different cultural peoples and everyone respects others so there is no point of having such status and even when the state of kasmir is not having any boost in economy and education due to such status.

1- Someone has met you guys in person who has influenced you guys about India which is not positive.
2- Since there heavy social media propaganda and information warfare against India by two of our neighbouring countries because of their vested interest. So some are commenting negative enough comment and with lots of like to offend you guys so your attitude is changed.

Also Ashokas reign expanded from Afghanistan to Burma ... which ofcourse wasn’t happening all peacefully.. just wanted to call out the moral high grounds people may wanna take which may not be accurate .. at the end of the day we are all humans/animals which want to expand and/or preserve their areas. Yes spirituality does play a role and overall expansionist or enforcement of thoughts was never an intent.

True.. Some parts of India Are completely ignored like mine.. I live in Jammu & we don't have Cellular internet in 5 Districts since 2 months n literally no internet n No telecommunication in 4 Districts & we are not even like Kashmir... Jammu had nothing to do with the conflict but most of my people are suffering
