      We don't offer any colors other than our standard black, but if you want to go that route we typically recommend ordering the bumper bare metal and powder coating it when you get it.

    Which of these aluminum bumpers offers the best protection against animal strikes? Low hoop, pre runner or full/3 hoop?

    • @heftyfabworks
      @heftyfabworks  Před 3 lety +3

      We designed the bumper to be compatible with factory airbags, crumple zones and safety features. Because of that, in a frontal impact the bumper will move back from the top in harder impacts. Most low speed impacts will have no effect on the bumper, higher speed impacts we will see that movement from the top. In those cases the 3 hoop will actually cause more body damage than the prerunner or low hoop. We have seen multiple animal strikes with these bumpers and most contact is at the bumper level and not on the hoops. We have seen an 80mph deer hit that resulted in no damage to the bumper and only shifted it slightly causing minor damage to the plastic trim below the headlights. We even had a customer hit a full grown Buffalo at 60mph, killing the Buffalo. There was some body damage and the bumper was mangled as it should be but the results were that there were no injuries and no frame damage to the vehicle. We replaced the bumper 3 weeks later after it was out of the body shop for the fender damage. Low hoops are likely to cause the least damage to your vehicle in an accident.

      Follow up question, in terms of protection, does the 4runner front bumper aluminum w/pre runner hoop protect better than the 4runner front hybrid tube winch bumper w/pre runner hoop? I like them both and price/weight are not an issue. Thanks!

    How do these do with animal impacts?

    • @heftyfabworks
      @heftyfabworks  Před 3 lety

      Extremely well, we've had quite a few customers have animal impacts. We do build our bumpers to absorb hard impacts which is why we build our frame mounts separately and out of steel so that energy is deflected. In most of the cases, the customer just needed to loosen up the frame mount bolts to shift the bumper back up into place.

    How does this specific setup affect suspension sag? I will be ordering this from you guys real soon. I have King Suspension with the standard 550 springs as of right now.

    • @heftyfabworks
      @heftyfabworks  Před 3 lety +4

      Craig Wexler great question! The aluminum bumpers weight right at 60 lbs and have very little effect on the suspension. They can be run in a stock suspension and most aftermarket suspensions come with higher rates front coils anyway. We recommend a 650 lb spring rate, 700lb max with winch, lights etc.
