    As a kid that loved HHGTTG when it was first broadcast on TV, I marvelled at the wonderfulI technology (such as the electronic guide itself) they had in the show.
    I cannot tell you how surreal it is watching these animated guide sequences on our own electronic devices (the Internet etc) these many years later. Thanks for the upload.

    • @ZTanMURReneRs
      @ZTanMURReneRs Před 6 lety +3

      Well it IS kind of a dig against some of the more absurd "absolute proofs of the existence of god" that some religious people come up with. Something like this for example:
      "The first ontological argument in the Western Christian tradition was proposed by Anselm of Canterbury in his 1078 work Proslogion. Anselm defined God as "that than which nothing greater can be thought", and argued that this being must exist in the mind, even in the mind of the person who denies the existence of God. He suggested that, if the greatest possible being exists in the mind, it must also exist in reality. If it only exists in the mind, then an even greater being must be possible-one which exists both in the mind and in reality. Therefore, this greatest possible being must exist in reality." Of course most educated religious people would recognize the absurdity of such an argument. ;)

    It's funny that if theologians are disputing this, it means some still believe in God. So all we know is God did exist at one point, and he may or may not have vanished in a puff of logic, but the conditions required for his existence are currently present, so who's to say he doesn't still exist?

      @Bramswarr Před 3 lety +3

      @@logfire4628 it isn't mocking one side, it's mocking both.
      because the argument itself is so absurd, it not only assumes that atheists will go to any lengths to prove god exists, but also that even the most absurd arguments can be used to prove god doesn't exist as the arguments in favor are all based on faith.
      and the logic holds up, because if you prove god is a liar, then you have proven god doesn't exist as he is portrayed, which really means that a different god exists, and thus the god christians worship doesn't.
      of course, all this is really nonsense with the existence of the improbability drive, since at any moment the improbable likelihood that the babel fish would just pop into existence anywhere at any time due to the drive being used becomes likely, especially given the less likely something is to happen the greater the chances it will when the drive is on.
