You can't help but to admire John's Character. Despite being an outlaw, he show that he does care and that he's a stand up dude, especially during that time and emotional environment.

John just agrees with everyone on every remark about him: If Abigail says he's a useless fool, he agrees with it; If Uncle calls him a miserable sack of sh*t, he agrees with him.
John is no fun man at all, rather he surrounds himself with people who make fun of him (Uncle, Arthur, etc.). I can't even recall any joke or witty response of his. He just acts like dumb but serious cowboy. Whereas Arthur was intelligent enough to keep a journal and see the gangs' demise when John couldn't.

Because Micah is a master manipulator
Dutch was really unstable at the time so it was easy for micah to step into his head and make him paranoid of his closest gang members stabbing him in the back.
Well it's because Arthur was "doubting" all his bad decisions while Micah was encouraging him. Everytime Arthur tried to make Dutch see reason, Micah would step in.
That and he was to proud and egotistical to admit he was played like a fiddle......dam it ducth

I legitimately don’t understand how nobody just shot Micah when nobody else was looking. Arthur easily could’ve killed him right after the Strawberry massacre and told Dutch he got hit in the shootout.
At that point in the game, Micah doesn’t seem to have done *too* much. Arthur definitely doesn’t trust him, and only breaks him out of jail on Dutch’s behalf, but at this point Micah hasn’t started manipulating Dutch or anything else. It’s not until Chapter 6 where I think Micah really started to play his hand, and if that mission happened then, Arthur probably would’ve done that, yeah
I've been playing this game for the 1st time w/ my roommate (who's played it before) & Ever since we started Chapter 6, I've just constantly be asking her, "Can we shoot Micah? Is that an option?" I've also asked if we can shoot Dutch, lol
Micah is a Character that can only exist in a heavily scripted Video Game such as Red Dead Redemption 2. Realistically speaking, Arthur and John already suspect him of being a rat, if not just a corrosive entity inside the Gang itself. Given the amount of turmoil that follows Micah wherever he goes, anybody with deductive reasoning can identify him as the problem, and the problem with this Story? John and Arthur both do exactly that. Yet, they do nothing, because Rockstar doesn't let them. Were we discussing Human Beings interacting, rather than Video Game Characters, I do not see Micah surviving after Chapter 4, at the latest. He'd either be exiled at best (for his sake), or shot in cold blood at worst.
I mean, it's because nobody really knew anything yet. However, if I was Arthur, when fighting Micah on that cliff, I would've spit on him. Pulled a Downes on that man

Bruh if you antagonize people in camp John punches you, but when Micah straight up threatened Jack, John was just like "leave us alone"
... because everyone knows Arthur is the better man, and they hold him to that standard. Micah is just a rat, and I don't think a lot of the members see that much good in him.
Getting knocked out in camp for antagonising too much is a game mechanic and the game's way of telling you to stop being a dipshit lol.
Micah actually gets punched on quite a few occassions. Look up his interactions with Javier and Charles

Micah is a pretty decent shooter, not quite on par with prime Arthur but still good enough to be considered skilled however as far as physical prowess goes he couldn't even overpower a near dying Arthur

The camp system is really revolutionary in this game. Remember the days where NPC’s would just idly stand or walk around and only interact with dialogue when you talked to them? They really were able to make the camp feel lively in a way few of any other video games have

Jack didn’t really have much time under the spotlight, so that’s not very fair. The one thing we saw him do was avenge his father, and his future is left ambiguous.

i love how John stands up to jack shows how good of a father he is
John was such a deadbeat in the first few chapters. His character development between the final chapters and Red Dead 1 is incredible. He turned into a completely different person.
John never was a deadbeat he just had alot going on in his life
Not necessarily a deadbeat more or less he just didn't want that responsibility at the time
John was literally up to nothing in the first few chapters. It's actually amazing how he went from an actual idiot to one of the baddest Rockstar protagonists to date.

Hearin' Micah talk is more painful than havin' tuberculosis.
I just love the fact that when Micha acts tough he does it to people that he sees weaker them him. But here when he did it to Jack and John confronted him like a man Micha slowly backs up. It's the same when he finally decides to fight Arthur but only chooses to do so when he realizes he's sick. And even then he couldn't kill him in the fight.
Arthur won that fight, he made it to the gun and was about to shoot that rat, but sadly Dutch got in the way, he always was Micha's guardian angel.

All these hidden dialogues and fine details are why I love this game.
It's the best thing ever seeing John and jack playing for once
John in chapter one to three is a terrible father to Jack, a even worse husband, and above all else is an idiot, but after Jack gets kidnapped he learns of all the mistakes he made and tries his best to become better then he was before, sometimes it worked and sometimes it failed, but at least he's trying.

I think it was more that he was caught off guard and Jack calling him “Pa” kind of made him do a mental double take. He wasn’t expecting it, but I don’t think he was mad that Jack referred to John as his father. If anything I’m sure that, if this was applied in a real life scenario, it would have left John smiling afterwards.
@@Emilystarks No, he didn't believe Jack was his son because Abigail was a prostitute and slept with a lot of gang members, the only ones that were actually said were Bill, Javier and Dutch, but there's a lot of evidence pointing toward Uncle and Arthur being with her too. That's why at the beginning of RDR2 Arthur was always angry at John for ditching the gang for a year, he left because he was afraid of being a father and he didn't think he was.

@@_Atreides_ Arthur is much stronger than John buddy. John is a great shot but it doesn't mean that he is as good a bare knuckle fighter as a shooter. Micah is heavier and a mean bastard with no principles, I think he's capable of ripping almost anybody's head clean off if he has enough reasons for that. And the fact that he struggled against Arthur doesn't mean he couldn't have won the fight in case Arthur was healthy
