    You answered exactly what I came here for! To pour a new candle to test in its entirety once you’ve found your wick after wickless testing! Thanks Kevin! I really dig your videos!!!!!

    Hi Kevin
    Thank you for this video!
    Might be a silly question as it contains no fragrance but do you let the wax cure at all? Or leave it a few hours and start testing?

    What do you when the wick starts to float because it's melted down and wick has loosen due to being so low in the container

    Hi, new to candle making here! Quick question, with this type of test method, how long do you let each wick burn before extinguishing and replacing? Is it the typical 2 hour test for melt pool, or more like 15 minutes to check diameter of burn pool?

    • @ArmatageCandleCompany
      @ArmatageCandleCompany  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi! Typical for me is about 4-hours. I'll run it in 4-hour increments until I get to the end or it fails (and then swap it).

    So while doing wickless testing, is it required to add fragrance oil or it can be added after you ascertain whi h wick is the best one?

    • @ArmatageCandleCompany
      @ArmatageCandleCompany  Před 3 lety +1

      You can wickless test with and without fragrance. Typically I learn what wick works best with my wax WITHOUT a fragrance, then make some with fragrance and repeat the process.

    Should I let the candle cure for a week or two before I put a wick in?

    • @ArmatageCandleCompany
      @ArmatageCandleCompany  Před 3 lety

      You can technically put the wick in at any point after it's cooled, even if it's not cured. I like to wait until I'm about to test, but I always label the current wick installed on some painters tape placed on the side of the container when I change it out or place it.

  • @beyoutifullyunique03
    @beyoutifullyunique03 Před 3 lety +1

    Hi, how long do you wait in between while it hardens to test another wick?

    • @ArmatageCandleCompany
      @ArmatageCandleCompany  Před 3 lety +2

      For the most accurate behavior, you should wait the "cure" period again. However, since we're trying to execute a lot tests in a fairly short amount of time, I only wait 5-10 hours - same as I would during normal burn testing. If you happen upon a wick you like after doing that, make sure to create a brand new candle with the winning wick and test it all the way down too.

    • @ArmatageCandleCompany
