- The city of Moscow has been targeted, a large warehouse has burned to the ground. Explosions have rocked Belgorod and Kursk again for a second night, as Ukrainian artillery now focuses on Russia's soft underbelly. Russian forces have continued their ofeensvie into Kharkiv, although taking high losses, and not making any real gains. Russian forces have been almsot completely stopped again in Avdiivka and Bakhmut, with Ukrainian forces holding the line.

If Ukraine takes Belgorod, it would give leverage for any peace negotiations. "We'll give you back your city if you GTFO our land."
Stuff like that maybe becomes interesting after most of Ukraine territory is freed.
In the current situation it is way too much hassle to conquer and control a foreign city that has no other strategic value than being a bit of leverage for negotiations.
Also, everybody knows that Putin doesn't care much about most smaller russian cities. He mainly cares about Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Pushing airplane: they didn't have the special toe-bar required to fit the plane.
I should add there have been SOF advisors and volunteers from all over the world have been to Ukraine to help train, advise, and some even join units.
Here is my analysis of the possibility of a third world War should the west take any direct action in Ukraine.
1) should Ukraine fall a third world War is inevitable within 3 to 5 years. Russian ambitions make a direct attack by Russia on NATO territory will result in a third world War.
2) A nuclear exchange would be highly unlikely in response to direct efforts to insure Ukraine victory so long as there is no direct invasion of Russia. To be clear in not saying it won't happen. I'm only saying it is a very unlikely reaction.
3) The safest way to insure Ukrainian victory and avoid a third world war is to stop this incremental supply of weapons to Ukraine and supply everything Ukraine needs to win decisively without any further delays. We should have supplied weapons such as ATCMS and F16s from the very beginning. We could have provided a no fly zone prior to the invasion and Russia would have backed off off its invasion plans and a lot of people on both sides would be alive today. Now we are looking at the very real possibility that intervention will be necessary to prevent the fall of Ukraine. A lack of a conjured response from the very beginning has forced the world into the position that a third world war is inevitable within the decade.
Bottom line. Either step in now and risk the feared outcome or face the same probabilities in the near future.
That's my opinion. Nothing more.
That's about right, a flood of weapons and assistance is needed this is the strength putin understands, putin will throw everything conventional at it but by the end of 2024 his military power will have peaked, they will smash everything and everyone they can as they leave unless they can be routed

Gettysburg was not intended to be a battleground. The 2 armies accidentally ran into each other. Lees march into the north was not a campaign to take ground as much as it was to hurt the north &force Union forces out of the South. The US Civil war was the start of modern warfare. As to tactics the Europeans were still using the same tactics in WW1.
