    I been on pumps for 15 years and always used tube pumps. Main disadvantage of Omnipod is you cannot change insulin without changing the whole pod. With tube pumps you can run out of insulin anytime and change the resivior. :)

      I also like that if the insertion site is uncomforable, I can just move it (I have a steel cannula). The pump itself can always be moved to a different place if the pump itself is in the way.

    Omnipod 5 is my first pump. It definitely has done me wonders!!. I absolutely love it.The issue I have is the price😢. If I don't meet my deductible, like in the beginning of the year, it's like close to 600 a month. Blows my mind!! But I definitely would recommend this pump to anyone!!

    Hi! I live in Argentina and we do not have the Omnipod yet. However, I’m a user of Accu Chek Solo which is also a tubeless insulin pump with the exception that you change the reservoire every three or four days. The base of the pump lasts 60 days which I think it is environmentally conscious.

    I am towards the end of my 90 day trial, the pump started out great but my insulin absorption has become so poor, I used all 200 units in 36 hours for a total of 70 carbs eaten…I have a carb ratio of 1 unit per 10 grams, the insulin just doesn’t absorb, just keeps getting worse no matter where I put it. Even brand new sites its a problem.

    Do you or anyone know the difference between Omnipod Dash and Ombipod 5? Being on the Omnipod 5 has gotten my A1c down to 6 which I have never gotten that low the bad thing is that there's no Android app for newer Android phones, so I have to carry the other controller I have left at restaurants and planes. It might be easier if I carried some sort of man bag but I don't.

    • @drunkvegangal8089
      @drunkvegangal8089 Před 5 měsíci

      I've used both medtronic and omni. One difference is that you can refill your medtronic reservoir. Both waste a ton of insulin; priming a length of tube or tossing the omni when the reservoir still has insulin. Not sure if medtronic has an app for your phone but back in the dark ages I had to fish out my pump and program a bolus that way. The omni controller is way more discreet. The omni attaches very quickly and you can wear it in the shower/tub/get it wet

      @@drunkvegangal8089 I'm not rich and have to settle for what my insurance will pay for 100%. I'm on disability and United Healthcare manages my Medicaid benefits. The tech came into my life later in my life with diabetes. My diagnosis in 1998 was type 2 but my current Endocrinologist changed my diagnosis to type 1 several years ago. He started me on the Freestyle Libre and then I switched over to the Medtronic system. I just hit the 4 year point and I was told normally that's when you might be able to make changes. When I mentioned possibly switching to Omnipod with Dexcom he said service from Omnipod is lousy. He's from Pakistan, I don't know if he had a bad experience trying to work with one of their reps and decided he prefers Medtronic. In the beginning I wasn't even aware that there were so many different options available now. Also, I have concerns about having to deal with 2 different companies compared to my current arrangement where everything comes to my door from UPS. Add to that I came across some people saying that the newest Dexcom wasn't even compatible with Omnipod yet etc. Some said they got the doctor's cooperation and approval from insurance and then couldn't even find a place that had the items in stock and on and on. I'm 59 and definitely don't like being expected to figure out complicated tech stuff on my own. So this time around I'm trying to do my homework before I commit if I would be stuck for 4 years. Any specific valuable advice would be appreciated by anyone with experience with these challenges.
