    These are the best Spider-man films, and Toby is the best Spider-man, although i really enjoy the new MCU ones with Tom Holland, i prefer the Drama/Romance approach these movies take over the modern Action/Comedy of the newer ones.

    • @JackMellor498
      @JackMellor498 Před 2 lety +20

      Also the craftsmanship behind them too, the filmmaking has an indie sensibility to it with Raimi’s background in the Evil Dead franchise.
      And I completely agree that Tobey is the best in the role, because he’s playing PETER PARKER as one character, yeah I know a lot of the media around the character depicts them as different personalities and such, but it’s still the same human being in that suit.
      That’s another point too, compared to Tom Holland and Garfield, Tobey’s Peter has a raw young adult humanity to him, him dealing with the pressures of young adult life and being internally frustrated by it and balancing that with the fact he’s an accidental hero who’s the only thing the city has left to protect it from Goblin. THAT’S Peter Parker, he isn’t just some kid running around saying “Oh my god your awesome/so cool”. I like Holland a lot as a younger Parker but I feel like that has just defined his whole portrayal of the character.
      But there’s something about Tobey’s portrayal that makes him like ten billion times more relatable, probably because I myself am getting closer to the age he was when he began these movies, and I appreciate more mature themes because I’m more adult, and my overall appreciation of these first two films has only increased the older I get. And it was bursting at the seams to begin with.

    Uncle Ben was played by one of my favorite actors, Cliff Robertson. He played a CIA agent in "Three Days of the Condor" and he played one of the most tragic characters, a victim of inhuman torture, Philip Nolan, in "The Man Without a Country".
    His most iconic or famous role was probably as Charley Gordon, in "Charley", the movie made based upon the book, "Flowers for Algernon" about a mentally challenged man who undergoes an operation and becomes a genius... and discovers that it changes nothing. A very tragic story, I recommend the movie (but the book is better).

    The thing about the Raimi trilogy (unlike the MCU and those awful ASM movies) is that even though no Spidey film sticks to canon 100% Raimi still managed to capture the essence of Peter perfectly. The comics Peter was exactly like these films. Peter was always tormented from trying to hook up with MJ yet still protect her, trying to balance school, work and Spider-Man while maintaining his secret identity, and caring for (elderly) Aunt May because of his guilt over Uncle Ben.
    The MCU made Spidey into Iron Man's sidekick. They made May some kind of "MILF" and she knows Peter is Spidey by the second film.
    But they also completely ignored all comic canon - Tony Stark wasn't adopted and has no siblings, Ultron was created by Stark and Banner instead of Hank Pym, Wanda and Pietro are "test tube mutants" created by Red Skull instead of the children of Magneto, etc. The MCU is wildly entertaining but a huge letdown when it comes to how and when iconic events take place. Funny how MCU Mysterio called our reality "Earth-616" but the MCU is so obviously not set on our "Earth".

    One thing you should know girls is that this Spiderman was created in 2002 and back then Marvel projects were made separately with stand alone storylines and not made like a universe like what Disney does. So Expect that these movies would have Spiderman alone and with Spiderman exclusive villains. Another thing that you should know as well, the focus in these early movies was more on Drama and hard hitting action scenes, it's also much darker in mood than Disney's light tone with comedic and fast action sequences.

    It’s actually rather ironic getting bit by the spider makes his vision better when most spiders actually can’t see too well at all.
    Take tarantulas, who’s eyes are clustered in a bunch on the head.
    You imagine if you had eight eyes all in one bunch on your face and you’d be confused, the vision would be terrible because the perspective of everything around you would be unbalanced and strange.
    Same for spiders. Because their eyes are on top of their head looking mostly up, they have 360 vision, but can only see like the immediate area around their body AT MOST.
    Peter would have to be bit by a jumping spider whose eyes are quite large.
    Also, I’ve been watching the channel as a non subscriber for some time, but saying you’re not disgusted by the spider has just earned you a subscriber :)

    the whole MJ thing...throughout all these movies.....90s/early 2000s tropes, sure.....but, these people are in high school, remember that. The depiction of this relationship is how it goes a lot of the time. In this case, it's the girl that comes to realize, but it happens oppositely, too. In these movies, MJ has an unstable home life, and, sure she's with Flash and then goes out with Harry, but,...it's hardly enjoyable. Both dudes don't get her, and are unstable themselves....and she dumps them! So, why are we all pissy at her? This happens to everyone ALL the time. It's....wait for it.....relatable. When you were in high school....did you date or go after the best people? Were you a bit superficial at times? If not, congratulations: you're lying, possibly to yourself. People often come to realize people of value over time, and teenage years are not characterized by wisdom. And also....people are not clones - just because Peter realizes it and is constantly wise, doesn't mean everyone can. MJ seeking out strong, successful dudes when her own Dad is such a fucked up deadbeat....is pretty common and makes a lot of sense. These movies are about the struggles of this kind of relationship....getting started, communicating, and enduring the hardships. It might not depict it perfectly, but, I would call it an exaggeration of a very common scenario. In some movies, MJ instantly falls for Peter, and adores him throughout. These movies just depict things a bit rockier.
