  • Hey, folks.
    George here. Just wanted to let you guys get to see the guy behind the stupid ideas. This is the first in a series of videos going over my stereoscopic wiggle lens for Sony Alpha mirroless cameras.
    Hope you guys enjoy the ramblings of a guy who makes stupid stuff.
    Cheers!

    This is honestly something I’ve been after for a long while now, I was researching a nice DIY method and came across nothing, yet you seem to have smashed it out of the park! I’m so frustrated I missed out on preorders, but please let us know ASAP when the STL files are available to purchase! I am very excited, to see what’s coming, great work 👌

      Hey, Michele.
      For sure! I'm almost finished with this production run, so I'll have time soon to create a library of videos and write ups for 3d printing the STL.
      Cheers,
      George

    This looks very cool, I love seeing new ideas like this in photography. Reminds me that I need to get a split field view filter someday...

    I just finished printing and assembling the kodak funsaver lens. I'm excited for you to sell these and/or the print files for these!

    This is dope. I love your passion for producing stupid ideas. I wish more people would do that, including myself. I’ve used many of the 3D 35mm film cameras that are out there and always hoped for a digital version. Thanks for bringing it into a reality! Really looking forward to seeing where this goes in the future!

      Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. A buddy told me I sound like Marie Kondo because I love how these stupid ideas spark joy.
      If you're shooting on a mirrorless camera (full-frame or APS-c), let me know which one if it's not a Sony so I can get moving on getting the 3D lens on to it.

    This is so cool man! I've actually wired some GoPros together to produce this effect as well, which comes with its own advantages/disadvantages haha. awesome to see someone else pursuing digital wigglegrams! Take my money!!!

    • @georgemoua
      @georgemoua  Před 3 lety

      I still have to try the GoPro method. With the older GoPros so cheap, I don't know why I haven't already.
      Haha, I just finished designing the lens Fuji X and Sony APS-c, and I should be wrapping up M43 this week. What camera mount are you on?

    What would it be like with a 4k or 8k sensor (for ample pixel chip/chop room to stich in various ways into a 720 or 1080 image) using different arrangements, like traingulated lenses?
    NASA Langley has a 3 lasers system used to measure doppler shift in order to land on the moon. I'm thinking thats some high precision stuff. People always talk about traigulation in space or on a map, so with your cool lenses and concept married with high rez images that allow you to chop them up and transmit the data to a viewer where the device can render them for the observer with a variable perspective option. Maybe marry that up with a VR headset and that could be super cool! Essentially the gmaps street view camera ball, but maybe 1/4 of a ball and 3d printed to fit any hand held camera.
    Also, have you considered your 3-lenses model on kickstarter but perhapse widen the outer two lenses with side "antennae" (like on an ant) which is a hollow tube (maybe square or rectangular) with angled mirrors to widen the perspective and offer maybe a partial side-to-side 3d realism? Maybe feed it as a live video feed where the viewer could change their 2d perspective of a 2.5D video feed.
    Do these qualify as stupid (hopefully Fun) idea's? 🙃

    Awesome video. Thanks for sharing this. You’ve almost convinced me to get a 3D printer. I’ve machined some shitty lenses, but a 3D printer would make experiments quicker and easier.

    Thanks for your effort. Just a short question, does the risky lens realy could harm the shutter? I mean if the lens has enough space, the shutter shouldn't collide with the lens. Or may I miss some cases, where the shutter moves more "forward"?

  • @luciasteiner4838
    @luciasteiner4838 Před 3 lety +1

    Hey! I just saw your Kodak FunSaver Disassembly video and wanted to know if there is another way to take out the film roll without taking all the pictures so I can use it with my film camera? Great video!

    • @georgemoua
      @georgemoua  Před 3 lety

      Hey, Lucia.
      You're not really taking any photos when you wind the film if you block off the lens with a lot of duct tape or gaffers tape. Just make sure to cover the lens and you should be fine winding the film back on your Kodak Funsaver.
      Cheers,
      George

  • @Goninextdoor
    @Goninextdoor Před 3 lety +1

    I just love this idea! Have used many techniques to achieve this look but buying the nishika8000 was not an option, because of the price of the camera and the process of developing. But this is the answer to all of my prayers. Is there any chance a 3 lens fuji mount‘ll be available? The effect looks so much better with 3 instead of 2 angles.

    • @georgemoua
      @georgemoua  Před 3 lety

      Hey, Agon.
      Apologies for the late reply. Unless I can source smaller lenses, two is the upper limit for me at the moment for anything APS-c. I do agree though, three does give a smoother wiggle, but I do like the charm of a two frame wiggle.
      Cheers,
      George

  • @jawaring4367
    @jawaring4367 Před 3 lety +1

    For something like an m50 with a smaller sensor you could attach this to a speed booster, yeah? I think some people have made similar adapters for Canon lenses on thingiverse, so some of that work might already be done for you if the CAD files are available

    • @georgemoua
      @georgemoua  Před 3 lety

      You wouldn't be able to speedboost an E mount lens onto Canon's M mount. Their flange focal distance is too close to be able to add an additional piece of glass inbetween. Each lens mount has to be designed to fit the interior space sitting in front of the sensor to give the best possible image.

  • @Astrac

    Hey will you be producing these again? I really want one but missed out on pre-orders :(

  • @AINEET
    @AINEET Před 3 lety

    How hard would it be to adapt a Nishika into something like this? Like tear it apart for the lenses, make the focal point coincide with the digital sensor... boom. Easy DIY digital wiggleram. Ah, it probably wouldn't fit into the sensor would it?

  • @OscarHernandez-js3pk

    I love your idea, would your lens work with an EF-E mount converter?

    • @georgemoua
      @georgemoua  Před 3 lety +1

      No, I'm not sure there's an EF-E converter (where you mount an E mount lens on an EF body.) I am working to see if I can get something working on EF bodies though. It might be full frame only.

    about the canon vr180 lens but with a twist! with a anamorphic sqweeze so it produces a sbs half frame 3d? on the same sensor! vr180 sucks 'couse the perspective is so far waway, and its
    good for vr but try filming a concert with it.Resolution on cameras its on the way up and up so such lens would be perfect for stereoscopic 3d .
